I loved this author’s previous book, and I jumped at the chance to read and review this one.

It starts with an arresting prologue, and catapults us straight into the story. I was pretty sure that I knew what had happened to Alice, but the super-twisty plot has a lot of surprises in store.

Maddy and Richard have a strong marriage, but it seems that he’s been keeping secrets from her. With Richard missing, it doesn’t look good, and like most small villages, rumours and talk abound.

This atmospheric and gripping thriller had me totally riveted. It’s the sort of book that will just keep you turning the pages, as the plot deepens.

The pace is fast, and the plot is tense and twisty. I absolutely did not see the ending coming at all.

Be warned, you will not be able to put this book down as the ending approaches! Totally gripping and suspenseful.

When young girl named Alice is found left for dead in a lake on the edge of a small village called Leavensfield; it sends huge shockwaves around their small and incredibly close knit community.

But even more shocking is that Maddy’s husband is missing and she soon discovers that Alice was last seen getting into his car. Where is her husband and her why would he hurt Alice? When his car is found abandoned in a ditch Maddy starts to question just how well she knows her husband; raising questions about their relationship and his past.

I really enjoyed this book. Kerry uses great character descriptions, so I really felt like I got to know some of the main characters including Harriet - the local stepford wife style village local who has to be the centre of everything, and Kylie, Maddy’s blunt and challenging teenage daughter.

The book flicks between the present day and Maddy’s childhood with her memories of a traumatic time she experienced with her father whilst growing up.

The pace is steady but detailed; with great scene setting and some really funny use of metaphors. I found myself willed to keep on reading, with lots of tension and suspense building up to the climax of each chapter. There were various twists and reveals which left you gradually building a picture of the events with Alice.

I didn’t predict the conclusion where we learn the truth about what happened on that fateful night and I felt it bought the story to a great end, however I did find the very last page a bit abrupt and felt that I already knew this particular element was coming. That said, it didn’t distract from my enjoyment of the book.

Overall - a really gripping and enjoyable thriller! This being my first book from Kerry, I would happily read another.

I haven't read anything else by Kerry Wilkinson and i was pleasantly surprised by the consent of the book.
The plot was both interesting and realistic i would say, the haracters wasn't my favourite but i fund them reliable.
The only negative I would say this book have is that the story was very slow at the beginning and became more interesting from the middle of the book. But the good thing is that it has a lot of twist that kind of keep you in suspense.

What My Husband Did explores the nuances of a small community when a tragedy hits. As a city girl, it was interesting to read about the different roles each member of a community are assigned: from top dog to outsider, and everything inbetween. The plot was both interesting and realistic, and the characters were relatable, although I think there could have been more depth in that area. Overall, a fabulous read! I look forward to reading more of Kerry Wilkinson

the story had a bit of a slow start, but towards the middle it picked up and I was enjoying the suspense.
The ending was a bit too abrupt though and I have questions.

This book is hard to rate. I would give it a 2.5 stars. It's not what I expected. I thought it would be a bit more of a thriller. It's very slow moving. It's hard trying to figure out what happened to Alice because the book is pretty much all about Maddy trying to cope with a missing husband and all the rumors flying around town. Didn't love any of the characters and never felt like i really got to know them. I couldn't tell you much about Maddie and Richard. The way Maddy talked about her husband, I got the feeling they weren't much of a couple. I didn't care for the alternate story about Maddie and her father. It distracted me from the Alice storyline. I didn't hate the book, it just wasn't one of my favorites. The best part of the book was when the truth was finally revealed about what happened to Alice.

Give the book a try, especially if you are a fan of the author. I had a hard time getting into the story. I absolutely LOVE the Andrew Hunter Series and look forward to reading more books by the author.

Because Maddie's husband has not come home. Did Richard have something to do with what happened to Alice -- villagers say that they saw Alice getting into Richard's car that day. NO SPOILERS.

I had a hard time getting into this one -- it was very slow moving and the mystery was not that gripping so I kept putting it down. Told in a past/present narrative from Maddie's point of view, the bulk of the story has to do with small town drama and past indiscretions. Secrets and lies are eventually revealed explaining everything. I found it a bit of a disappointment having read many of this author's previous books.

I love a juicy "whodunnit" thriller, and this one was excellent. I did not see a lot of the twists coming, and I love that in a book- especially as a big fan of this genre, that can be hard to do!! Nothing about this absolutely blew my mind, but I would definitely recommend to a fan of thrillers and mysteries. Great for fans of Gillian Flynn or Riley Seger, but tamer than both those authors.

I loved the suspense of this book. I though that flashbacks were easily intertwined. I was able to solve the mystery as that book went on

This was a gripping read from page one. Maddy’s husband, Richard is seen giving Alice, a child from the village, a lift. Alive is then found seriously injured and Richard disappears. Suddenly everyone seems to be blaming Maddy and Richard for Alice’s injuries.
The story is told from Maddy’s POV but also goes back into her past as her past is influencing her reactions to her husbands disappearance. I loved the story and joining Maddy’s rollercoaster ride to see if her husband is guilty.
I know this author will always provide a great story.

A child is found in a stream with life threatening injuries, Maddie's husband Richard goes missing on the same night, there is evidence that the injured child was last seen getting into Richards car. The small tight knit village is full of gossip and innuendo and Maddie is associated with the assault on the child. This is a real mystery with many twists and turns .Did Richard do it read the book and find out 5 stars

I loved this exciting thriller of a read. I was forever changing my mind about what had happened and was blown away by the ending. I will defiantly be looking for more books by this author.

I was very impressed with Maddy's character. She handled Richard's disappearance better than I would have. She stayed strong through it all. This book was such a great read! You never knew what was going to happen next, and there were so many plot twists. The ending was i one I never saw coming and I like being surprised like that. I am so glad I got this book to read.

Maddy gets home from a meeting and her husband Richard isn't at home. She is worried that he hasn't called or left her a note. Her best friend's husband shows up telling her to come to a stream on the hill where he has found a girl. The police show up and find that the girl isn't dead but close to it.
The town gossip and know it all Harriet says that Richard was seen giving the girl a ride in his car. And Richard still hasn't shown up. The town all think Richard is guilty.
This book was so good with lots of twists.

I enjoyed this book. It was a fast paced thriller and it kept me on my toes as I, like the main character, tried to figure out what the truth was - who can she trust? I did feel like the lead-up to the last few pages did not pay off as intended. The ending fell a little flat. Overall, a quick, fast-paced read that I would recommend to others who like domestic thrillers.

This book centers on Maddy, who lives with her husband Richard in a small and gossipy town. One day, 12-year-old Alice, a neighbor, is found in grave condition in the stream near Maddy's house. Richard doesn't come home that night and word gets out that Alice was last seen getting into his car, which makes Maddy a social pariah while trying to figure out what is going on.

I found the pace of the book a little slow up to the point where the secrets start getting unveiled- at that juncture, there were a ton of surprises, leading up to a climax that I didn't see coming. I didn't really take to Maddy- I thought her relationship with Richard felt a little two-dimensional and I didn't know why she didn't ask more questions when so many people were coming at her with questions and news on Richard and she didn't know why.

Overall, I do think this book is worth the read, if not for the ending alone, though I think readers that form more of a connection with Maddy will enjoy it even more. I have liked all of Wilkinson's books and this one didn't disappoint, even though it wasn't my favorite. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This story by Kerry Wilkinson took me into it slowly and hooked me on till the end.

This is my first time read by the author and am glad I read it.

The story is set in a village Leavensfeld, which is small in size with two pubs and it's almost like everybody there knows each other. Madeleine is married to Richard and both live here with their daughter Kelly. When life is on as usual....the unconscious body of 12 year old Alice Pritchard is found on a trail by Maddy and her friend Atal. At the same time she has been under tension as her husband has not returned home. When someone tells the police that Richard was the last person seen with Alice, the whole town goes into a frenzy of speculation and rumours. How does Maddie deal with these? Is Richard the culprit? Why is he missing

The plot is very interesting. The story in the present is narrated in the first person POV of Maddie and alternated with her past. The way both the stories are narrated with no confusion is very interesting. You get to see the life in a village through this story. The author weaves a story about perceptions, trust, marriage and secrets very beautifully. The turn the story takes is unexpected.I would have loved a more elaborate involvement of a few other characters in the story. I felt a few questions remained unanswered but does not affect the storyline.

I would recommend this story to all those who love to read mystery thrillers set in picturesque surroundings with many different characters and different shades of human nature.

I was hooked with the first few pages. Book did slow down for me in the middle but quickly picked back up. Told in two timelines, and down really well. Enjoyed the twists and turns.
