Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy of this book. Overall, it was a good read. It took me awhile to get into it, but once I did, I was hooked.

My Review:

Wow, wow, wow!!!!! This author never ceases to amaze me. I’ve read many books by this author and I’ve loved them all. It’s the endings of his books that I love the most. There are so many surprises and revelations as I turned each page. I raced right through this one.

The book was about a woman who’s husband goes missing at the same time a little girl is found beaten hanging on for dear life. Did her husband do this to this poor girl? Or was it just a coincidence? Was there a connection between her husband and this girl? Where was her husband? You find this out and so much more by the end of the book.

I want to start off by saying how much I loved this book. I loved the way the author had one person narrating the whole book. I felt everything the narrator felt. I felt her pain, loss, and most of all her confusion. All she wanted was to know where her husband was and if he did what they were saying he did. She didn’t want to believe she was living with a monster for all these years. I also loved the plot of this book. I’m a sucker for anything that has to do with children. I think it has to do with that children are so innocent so I can’t believe why anyone would want to hurt them. Now let’s talk about that ending. Endings are always my favorite part of the book. I couldn’t believe that ending. I definitely got all my questions answered by the end. There were so many twists and turns and I loved it. I didn’t know which way was up or down by the time I finished the book. That ending will stick with me for a long time.

Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Haven’t read anything before by this author.
The book started off as quite a gritty read and the ending was the same. The middle of the book for me was a bit slow. The twist and turns were there but I’m just not sure what was missing ...... this is only my view on the book and realise we all like different things. Would I give the author another read of one of her books - absolutely!

Story synopsis -

Description
A little girl has been left for dead. And now my husband is missing.

‘I can give you a lift home,’ the man says. Little Alice tightens the zip of her big red coat. She’s unsure, but the walk will be cold and dark. ‘I’m not supposed to get in a stranger’s car.’ He forces a smile. ‘I’m not a proper stranger, am I?’

I return home to our beautiful house on a chilly winter evening expecting to find my handsome husband Richard waiting for me by the fire. We’re still so in love, and he always takes care of me: buying us this home in the little village where he grew up, making sure I settled in and made friends, and treating my teenage daughter like his own. There’s a bit of gossip about our age gap, but the death of his first wife years ago was so tragic that he still gets sympathetic looks. Everyone loves Richard.

He usually comes straight back from work. But tonight, our antique clock ticks on through the dark evening, with no sign of him. Then a knock at the door shatters my perfect life.

While this book is written well it just lacked the same intensity or character that I am used to from this author.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

This is my first read by Kerry Wilkinson and did not disappoint! What My Husband Did is full of twists and turns that will keep you wanting more.

In the small English town of Leavensfield rumors are flying as 12-year-old Alice was found left for dead, and Maddy’s husband Richard is missing. Alice was last seen getting into Richard’s car. Small town life comes with all of the challenges of everyone knowing everyone, talking about everyone, and being in everyone’s business— which is the last thing that Maddy wants.

There are so many questions here— why did Alice get into Richard’s car? Did they know each other? Was Richard the one who left Alice for dead? Or is it a mere coincidence?

Kerry Wilkinson did a good job with character development and the overall plot of the book. I knew from reading the description of this book that it would be right up my alley. Wilkinson provides a twisted psychological thriller with an ‘I didn’t see that coming’ ending.

A very big thank you to #Netgalley and #Bookouture for the eARC of #WhatMyHusbandDid by Kerry Wilkinson. Be on the lookout for this book when it comes out on November 17, 2020! 👀

A knock on the door heralds the start of a nightmare for Maddy as her friend's husband Atal announces that he has found a young girl unconscious in the stream at the back of her house. Then Maddy's husband Richard fails to return from meeting a friend and work colleague which fuels rumours that he may be involved in young Alice's accident.
The story follows events as Maddy becomes the target for the village's frustration in finding the chief suspect - surely she knows more than she's telling the detective on the case? The finger of suspicion loses Maddy both her income and the respect of locals who she would have previously called her friends. The villagers close rank under the seeming direction of the village's popular yummy mummy Harriet, who is quick to take Alice's mum Gemma under her wing.
The book may be a little predictable in reflecting how society tends to behave in the wake of an event where there is harm to a child but author Kerry Wilkinson cleverly leads the enquiries into Alice's attack in several different directions to provide some strong smoke screens and decoy characters along the way to the truth.
Will you work out who is responsible for what happened to Alice? I wasn't too far away from solving the case but the path which led to the attack was certainly not what I was expecting. As in so many novels of this genre, secrets hidden in history have a habit of eking their way into the present and innocent people are often those who get caught up in the repercussions.
Although the initial event which triggers the storyline does not make for comfortable reading, I enjoyed trying to work out who was involved in the aftermath. Definitely a book I would recommend to friends and family

I like Kerry Wilkinson a lot, but this was not my favorite. However, looking at Goodreads reviews, Almost everyone else, loved it. So...there you go.

from description: "A little girl has been left for dead. And now my husband is missing."

Things aren't looking good for Maddy's husband Richard, and in a village that knows everything that happens and closes ranks, things aren't looking good for Maddy either.

I realize the cutting back and forth to Maddy's childhood serves a purpose, but I found it distracting. Much simpler to give a brief background concerning Maddy's father having been convicted of a crime he didn't commit.

Maddy, as she tries to puzzle out the situation of her husband's absence, also has to face some of the elements of their marriage.

Having read books by Kerry Wilkinson before I was excited to get an ARC. Unfortunately, I didn't love this as much as some of the other books. I enjoyed it but I didn't really find this to be a psychological thriller. It had some suspenseful moments but I didn't find full of suspense. Still, it was well written and an easy read and won't stop me from wanting to read more books by this author!

Darn good book! A fun and twisty read. Parts of this book were rather convoluted, but it was a great story and a good look at the secrets hidden in small towns. I will say that I was thoroughly confused by how calm Maddie remained while her husband was missing. This felt very incongruous with her character and with the situation. The inclusion of a second timeline dealing with her father only muddied the present timeline. I think it could have been included in one part and left there to provide background but otherwise it felt like filler. While I am being picky about the book, it is only because Mr. Wilkinson always provides a high quality story and my expectations are high. So maybe disregard my little picky points and read yourself a wonderful story!

Thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author - for allowing me to read this copy for free. I enjoyed this story from beginning to end. I thought the mystery was engaging. All the twists, words, characters and stories felt right, like they belonged and helped the main story develop. This was an incredibly entertaining book. I look forward to read more from this super talented author.

Twelve year old Alice accepts a ride home from Richard' Richard, an adult, is an acquaintance of Alice's family. In the evening, Maddie (Richard's wife) returns home from a meeting. Yet no Richard. His car is not there nor is he. And yes - he is expected home.

Shortly after, Maddie has a visit from a neighbor. (Her best friend's husband). "There's a body in the stream". And it is Alice...

As always, Kerry Wilkinson has written a superb story. Riveting and exciting - this is one book you won't want to put down!

Many Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a wonderful read.

A good story with interesting characters and a lot of suspense. I did feel as though I was reading two stories, and I’m still not sure how the story of Maddys dad affected the main story other than shape who she became. It was still well worth the read, and I found it was hard to put down. I would recommend it to others who enjoy a good mystery.

This is my 2nd book by Kerry Wilkinson (gave her last one “Ten Birthdays” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️). This grabbed me from page 1 and lots of twists and turns towards the end that I was not expecting. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review.

Twelve year old Alice is found unconscious in a stream and CCTV footage shows her getting into a car driven by Maddies husband Richard. All fingers then point at him as he has not been seen since.and Maddie gets the brunt of anger and suspicion in his absence.

This is the second book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. I like his writing style, the characters are well drawn and the plot engaging. It is a psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the end.

Thanks to Kerry Wilkinson, Bookouture and Netgalley for this ARC in return for an honest review.

Wow, I could not put this book down. I was captivated from page one.

A young girl is found unconscious in a field in a small town. A woman’s husband, Richard, is missing. The girl was last seen getting into Richard’s car. Rumors are flying and assumptions are being made. Is her husband guilty and where is he? Can she save him without revealing uncomfortable parts of their pasts? Kerry Wilkinson does an incredible job of flashing back between decades to tell the story and solve the mystery.

I enjoyed reading this book until the last page. I found that it didn’t add to the story, and was kind of irrelevant. If you are a fan of suspenseful stories, I would definitely read this!

Thank you to #netgalley for my digital arc.

This is dark and twisty. I enjoyed it and the story was good but there could have been a bit more depth to it. Most parts were excellent and very well written but some felt rushed and a little flimsy. Would still definitely recommend though

This was a great psychological thriller! It's fast paced, and kept me on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed it.

Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a copy of this E-book to review via Netgalley.

A good psychological thriller, tense, chilling and with surprising revelations! Fear mistrust allegations and assumptions abound when a 12 year old girl is found injured in a stream, who is to blame?? Richard who gave her a lift and is now missing or the dog walker who found her or someone else?? Behind the scenes a web of intrigue and deceit has led to this point and with the small mindlessness of a close knit village community rumours are rife! A cleverly thought out plot with interesting characters make this a fast paced thriller!
Thank you netgalley for this early read.
