This is the second book I read in this series and I liked this one much more than the first one.
It's a compelling and entertaining story that kept me hooked.
Good world building and character development, humor and a tightly knitted plot.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

I wanted to like Starbreaker more than I did. I adored Bouchet's Kingmaker Chronicles, Promise of Fire was one of the best fantasies I read that year so the Endeavour series had a lot to live up to. Unfortunately, it didn't. Maybe because I had such high expectations, it Starbreaker just was never going to live up to them. I didn't warm up to Shade as a character in Nightchaser and his and Tess' relationship was a bit meh to me. Starbreaker was an improvement for me and I did warm up to Shade but I felt that a lot of the secondary characters needed more development and it was a bit slow in places. I'm curious about book 3 but I don't think it's going to be a book that I count down the days until it releases and binge in one sitting.

I loved this so much, a great follow up to the first book in the series, Nightchaser. Amanda has again brought excitement, an edge of the seat nail-biting read to us. I love her characters so much, so relatable, the great relationships between the characters makes this story even better than it already is. Fast paced reading, addictive and I just really need to know what’s going to happen, but sadly I have to wait ! If you’ve read the first book then pick this up as you won’t be disappointed, haven’t read Nightchaser, why not, go read it and come straight back and read this, you will not regret your decision (well you may wonder why you didn’t sooner)

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

I was thrilled with this book ! Amanda Bouchet has written a fun, exciting, nail biting, epic, space odyssey that will blow you away.
This is not the first book in the series and reading the previous book , Nightchaser , would be of benefit

Struggling with their new relationship dynamics after the initial betrayal then turns around in the previous book Tess and Shad struggle to find their balance . Shade must win back Tess's trust whilst the battle the treachery of the Overseer and his Dark Watch
They are hired to execute the jailbreak of a rebel scientist, the one person who might be able to fix the results of an environmental disaster on her home planet ...... meanwhile they are drawn into other plots and sub plots ....
can their spikey relationship survive ?
There was a lot I liked about book -The snarky dialogue , the reluctant rebels fighting an oppressive government , the beginnings of secondary romance plots between familiar and new characters and most especially the twist that Tess is not only the adopted daughter of the chief oppressor, but also one of the rare individuals both sides are anxious to investigate because of their potentially game-changing biology .

A thoroughly entertaining book in an interesting setting with great characters who draw you in .

I was given an arc of this book by the Publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

This seems like it would be right up my alley but I haven’t read book 1! Going to track it down and get back to this.

The world of the Endeavor is one that I’m fully on board with. I really enjoyed being back with Tess, Shade, Jax and Merrick in particular. This crew are a family, found family and I have all the needy vibes now for book three.

As with book one, this was a fast-paced read, for all nearly 500 pages of it. Sometimes, I felt like I had to hold on tight with the drama and I let it sweep me along; that’s not a negative, just a sense of the tension this read brings.

I knew in book one that there was something fishy about Uncle Nate, so his storyline in Starbreaker didn’t surprise me and I liked where it was going but I’m gonna need that conclusion from book three. Shade and Tess gave me life and I enjoyed the development of something deeper from them. As with book one, I didn’t always gel with the on-page steam.

Close? It was all I could do not not flinch. I didn’t want close. I wanted fucking combined.

Bonk, the ship’s cat was just a delight, I’m such a sucker for animal companions. When he was in the story, I was at 100% attention. I could have done with a bit more of him.

Bonk followed her out like Tess was the comet and he was the tail that trailed behind her.

This is definitely sci-fi that’s heavy on the romance but I’ve found a world and family that I’m invested in and eager for the conclusion.

Thank you to Piatkus for the finished review copy.
