A messy, messy book that failed to capture the magic of this author's previous novels. Why were there so many characters - were they all so important we needed to follow their narratives? I love gossipy rich people escapism as much as the next person, but I'm starting to realise I need it to be relatively well written to stick with it.

Secrets Behind Closed Doors.....
Gossipy tale of people, places and dysfunctional families set in a Brooklyn neighborhood- Cobble Hill. What secrets lie behind closed doors? It’s a fun, fresh read with a colourful cast of characters. Entertaining and providing some enjoyable escapism.

I really wanted to love this book. I wanted to love it so bad but it took me like a week to read when normally I’d blast through something this size in a day or two. Some of the characters are just so irritating and I have no care for reading about them. Some of the characters you care about but there’s no real story there? Honestly I found this book just a whole load of nothing. Not much really happened and then bang at the end something happens and it’s over as fast as it started. There’s was little parts of this book that I loved but I was just always looking for something more and repeatedly being disappointed.
I loved that all the characters had their secrets and their little lives all crossed each other and the overlapping was achieved really well and felt smooth but I just wanted to be obsessed with these characters and this book but I’m sorry to say I just wasn’t.
3/5 from me.

This was a light fun read, that I loved in places. If you like stories about couples and families hiding secrets but everything being alright in the end this is the book for you.
