This is the tenth book in the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan.

When a model student and champion swimmer is found dead, Detective Josie Quinn is on the case. This book was so easy to get into it is hard to believe it is the tenth book in the series. It easily stands up as a stand alone novel. So don’t be afraid you are missing things. They are related to you during the course of the book.

The mystery here was fascinating and I was glued to the pages wondering how it would all play out. Characters are all well thought out and make you want to come back for more. This is definitely a series I need to read from book one. So fascinating. This is tv show gold. Not sure why some company hasn’t tried to produce this yet.

If you like mysteries and police procedurals, check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Breathe Your Last by Lisa Regan
Detective Josie Quinn #10

Murder mystery, police procedural, serial killer, and more. This book is not my favorite in the series, and I am not sure why…perhaps I it seemed a bit more unbelievable than previous books. Still and all, it was enjoyable and allowed me to see what Josie, Noah and the gang were up to.

What I liked:
* Josie: focused, intelligent, loving, caring, intense, good sister, good with her team, in love with Noah – eager to see what happens next
* Noah: didn’t see a lot of him but know he loves Josie and seems to be good at his job
* The police procedural aspects of the story
* Hearing the thoughts of the murderous whack-job killing people for reasons I found implausible…but then whack jobs are hard to fathom
* Seeing the team members
* That the killer was eventually determined and dealt with
* Some of the red herrings
* The way the book ended
* Wondering what will happen next

What I didn’t like;
* The murderer
* knowing that there is indeed a drug like the one used in this book – rather scary to think about
* That innocent people were so easily done away with

Did I enjoy this book? Yes, It was okay
Would I read more in this series? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Detective Josie Quinn is back in another compelling and well written crime thriller. Although this is book number 10 in the series it can be read as a standalone novel, although I do recommend reading the others, not just for the back story but because they are just so good.

If you are looking for a completely engrossing read that will grab you from the first page and won't let go until you read THE END, then look no further. Lisa Regan has another winner on her hands and I am already looking forward to book number 11.

Boy Lisa Regan can sure push out the books. But the series remains strong. Some bizarre murders that look like something else lead to a very very strange case. Typical Jose Quinn book with her risking her life though she does show some more vulnerability than we have seen in the past.

Fun ride

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Lisa has done it again! Another suspenseful mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next! This story was so interesting due to what was causing people to do inexplicable things - something I have never heard of - I love the research she does into these storylines to go outside the normal boundaries for a thriller!

Breathe Your Last – Lisa Regan

Josie Quinn is back in her newest adventure, and honestly, I think this is one of the best yet!
Detective Josie Quinn is headed to see her brother on campus at Denton University, wearing a bright pink uniform shirt (formerly white!), courtesy of a new red t-shirt her brother left in her washing machine. She’s also taking young Harris and his mother Misty to drop Harris off for his first day of preschool, and to assess the safety of the environment herself. After a quick meet and greet, Josie heads off to the campus gymnasium where Patrick is working.

As she jokingly berates Patrick for pink shirt fiasco, she suddenly spots a young female floating face down in the pool water. As they bring the body poolside and attempt CPR, Josie is already in cop mode, and soon her colleagues and campus police arrive on scene. The building security identifies the deceased as Nysa, the star of the collegiate swim team. But how does a star swimmer drown?
As Josie and her team begin to interview Nysa’s teammates and friends, they also begin to trace her steps, and learn from her roommate that Nysa hadn’t come home the night before. Josie, by chance, finds her backpack tossed in the woods, which yields few clues. The medical examiner confirms death by drowning in an otherwise healthy individual, and the only finding was chocolate in Nysa’s stomach. That finding, along with a bag tucked into Nysa’s backpack that contained crumbs, has Josie wondering...

The next day, Josie chances upon a fully involved house fire and stops to assist, narrowly escaping injury as she rescues a young child. The homeowner is a local celebrity and newly retired firefighter. As Josei interviews the young child, she gets a chill when the child tells her that her grandfather started the fire intentionally while chanting, ‘I am the match’.

As the investigation goes into high gear, a couple of other puzzling events occur, one involving a fellow officer. Josie also learns of a college prank that happened in the past, where a student claimed to be able to control his victims by command, with video’s being emailed to persons on campus. Sensing a connection, Josie and her team dig deep, not realizing just how close to a loved one the killer may be…

I have to say, Lisa Regan and her Josie Quinn character were Netgalley.com finds for me, and I have LOVED every book that I’ve read! Josie and her group are spirited, strong characters, with background stories that evolve as the series goes on. While each can be read as a standalone, the storylines all come together nicely when read as a series. Great mysteries, fast paced, action packed – I can’t wait to get discover the protagonist, but yet I hate when the last page is turned!!

I received this book as an Advance Reader Copy from Netgalley, in exchange for an objective review. Do you love to read?? Visit netgalley.com and start reviewing books today!!

What could these words have in common, "Time to be a match" - "Time to be a mermaid."
I don't know about you but I'm curious as to the nature of the fact that one girl is dead -presumed suicide- while a detective is on the immediate case searching for clues.
You might ask why it's so important and the M.O. (modus operandi) contains facts that Nysa was a champion swimmer so how did she die?
All the action takes place in Denton Pennsylvania which is roughly 4 hrs to the West of Scranton Pa. You know the saying "Ain't no party like a Scranton Party cuz a Scranton Party don't stop" thanks to The Office https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_iBK...
So perhaps college is all fun and games but what is up with this fire at a retired fire fighters house and it sucks that he now lost his voice after this incident and can't talk but his granddaughters have something to say.
What's known if you've follow Lisa's 9 other books in the Josie Quinn series is that she's rough and tough and refuses to settle till Detective Josie uncovers facts not fallacies.
She's upending everything and bringing in her own brother Joseph to find clues.
It's not a secret that her love interest is Noah but will they ever tie the knot?
Dan and Clay are also part of this mastermind work with some interesting things 'cooking up' nearby.
Now I mentioned grandad but he can't be the only guilty party because it seems he's being accused of setting the fire.
There's got to be a way to uncover facts such as camera footage, spyware, computer modems, or even notes/letters/the written word.
Hudson is part of a mixture here that may just be volatile and toxic but surely he can't get off completely or can he?
If only we had some video footage, some ability to test those who claim to represent the truth, some fact finding measure to behold....or perhaps someone in the family can help like Mary can help out before all holy hell hits the fan.
Well, folks I gave out some tid bits but I must be on my way as I can't tell to much.
This is a fab read with breaking twist and turns from every angle and literally it kept me on my toes.
The atmosphere was toxic yet inviting and was dangerous in the end.
All around a must read thriller.

Lisa Regan has the magic to create a book that is easy to read and full of twist and turns that keeps you guessing.
Expect to lose some sleep over this one.
How does a champion swimmer manage to drown?
Why has a decorated retired firemen set his house on fire with his grandchildren in the house?
We have multiple suspects but why and how. As the body count goes up Josie is struggling with a feeling of helplessness in the job and concerns about her relationship with Noah.
The conclusion comes as a big surprise even if there are some hints along the way to get you thinking in that direction.

Breathe Your Last by Lisa Regan is the 10th instalment in the series of Detective Josie Quinn. I have previously reas some of this series but not from book 1 or in order. This is a book you can read as a standalone too, very easily. In this book, Josie discovers a deady body in the swimming pool when she visits her brother at work on the campus of the local college. The discovery of the body may be a shock but to discover it is a championship swimmer is even worse! Some people are prepared to put it down to a bizarre accident, but not Josie. The struggle comes when she needs concrete evidence to prove her theory. We again, see her team behind her every step of the way no matter what. Josie as a detective always follows her instincts and she is hardly ever wrong as she toils to get the result she needs, her determination and grit is open for all to see. This woman is one hell of a detective! A brilliant one at that!
A perfectly-paced book that was very hard to leave for any amount of time. Another excellent Josie Quinn book to add to the pile, as exhilerating as the others I have read as well.
Thank you to Lisa Regan, Bookouture and NetGalley for the copy of the book to give you my thoughts today.

The 10th book in the Josie Quinn series and, as anticipated, this did not disappoint.

This tale had plenty of twists to keep your interest however the aspect I enjoyed the most was the ongoing storyline of Josie and her team.

This was a rollercoaster of a book and already I'm looking forward to the next instalment.

This is a great addition to the series. Really suspenseful and filled with tension. Great characters and an intriguing plot.

Arriving at the swim centre of the Denton University campus, Detective Josie Quinn didn’t expect to come across the best swimmer in the team, face down in the pool. Her efforts to resuscitate her futile. Josie had arrived on her way to work to see Patrick, her brother before he began work at the campus. Before long the swim centre was surrounded by police and all the teams necessary to work out what had happened.

The young woman’s death was the beginning of a horrific spate of murders which seemingly had no origin; there was nothing showing in bloods, in autopsies – the frustration of Josie, Noah, Gretchen, Mett and the team caused their bodies to run on adrenalin with little sleep and not many answers. But it was to get worse. Who was doing these dreadful things? And the biggest question – how were they doing it? Could Josie find the answers before it was too late?

Breathe Your Last is the 10th in the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan and oh my goodness! I will have to say, in my opinion, this is her best yet! What a heart stopping read it was. I flew through the pages in a matter of hours, unable to put the book down. Twists and turns, incredible imagery, exasperation, thrills and chills – this book had it all. Josie is a tough, resilient character and her determination not to give up was sorely tested in Breathe Your Last. Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

I am delighted to be catching up with the latest happenings in this great series featuring Detective Josie Quinn, written by Lisa Regan.

In this tenth instalment, Josie is on her way to see her brother at Denton Uni, Pennsylvania when she spots a female student floating lifelessly, face down in the campus swimming pool. Her brother Patrick is an assistant at the pool and the girl is champion swimming starlet, Nysa Summers. Josie and her team start to chew over the clues and to sift through the hours leading up to Nysa’s death, beginning with finding her missing backpack. The next day, a terrible housefire envelops the nearby home of a retired fireman, nearly killing his two granddaughters. As the body count continues to rise, Josie is convinced that the contents of the backpack provide the much-needed links they are searching for...

Although I dived into this series at book nine, there was enough backstory to really enjoy this novel, Breathe Your Last. It was a captivating, briskly-paced police procedural with more than enough action taking place to retain my interest. Once hooked, I was glued to the pages and it was a rollercoaster ride of surprises. With its stylish and tense plot, the story was told mostly from Josie’s perspective, though there were sporadic chapters from the unidentified killer’s point of view. The story effortlessly flowed and there was never a dull moment as the plot beelined for the heart-pounding finale. Josie made a tough, determined and admirable protagonist and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her. Breathe Your Last contains drama, suspense and tension by the shedload and I highly recommend this immersive novel. I am eagerly anticipating what Lisa Regan has in store for Josie Quinn next!

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Bookouture via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

These characters are so well developed they feel like family, each book is like catching up with beloved family members. This book was suspenseful and eerie and kept me guessing till the very end. Filled with twists and turns that take you through a rollercoaster of emotions. My heart was pounding and didn’t stop till I turned the last page.
Easily 5 star quality. This is a must read

Breathe Your Last by Lisa Regan is the tenth in the Josie Quinn series which is a crime thriller series featuring Detective Josie Quinn. Josie is a police detective who has been damaged by life and by her job. She lost her husband, but not before he fathered a child with another woman. A child Josie is now helping to raise. She lives with another police detective, Noah Fraley, and at this point had a pretty good life. She had stopped drinking although she refused counseling. Her brother Patrick had come over and done some laundry at her house and accidentally left his work t-shirt there. She was meeting him to deliver it at the pool where he worked when she saw a body in the pool. She jumped in to drag it out, did CPR on the young woman until the EMTs arrived and pronounced her dead. It was odd. She was a championship swimmer yet she drowned on a pool while fully clothed. This simple act sent the Denton PD off on a chase like they had never seen before.

Josie is a good character. She is far from perfect, but she has people who love her and take care of her, when she lets them. The most important of those is Noah, of course, although he has been behaving oddly lately. This is a frightening novel, mostly because of the potential if even part of it is true. People die; others almost die. Josie's life will never be the same. It was truly a gripping novel and all too real. The interactions between people are well-written and compelling. The height of mental illness and the havoc it can wreak is beyond words. All contained in this book. I recommend it.

Breathe Your Last by Lisa Regan is the 10th book in the Detective Josie Quinn mystery series, and another great addition. Wow this book grabbed me from the very first page, and kept me going. This book has more twists and turns, that kept me reading page after page. Just when I thought I was on the right track, I realize I wasn't. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author. If you love mysteries like I do, than I strongly recommend this book/ series. I have read every book in this series, Ms. Regan has me hooked.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is the tenth in the Detective Josie Quinn series; it is the third one I have read. I enjoy Josie; despite all the travails she has met with in her life, she remains a strong, intelligent, though vulnerable, character.

I also enjoy Lisa Regan’s writing. Fast paced, engrossing and If the plot is indeed plausible (I didn’t check!), it is very, very scary.

Having read some of the prior novels in this series, I enjoyed revisiting with the repeating characters. Yet, this would work well as a stand alone. However, since so many of us have time on our hands these days, why not go back and start the series from the beginning?

If you like police procedurals/thrillers, and are not familiar with Lisa Regan, I would recommend her.

Lisa Regan are you trying to kill me! OMG I have just been on the biggest rollercoaster reading this book. I'm not even sure where to start with this review.

Josie is as ever kick ass! Josie is gutsy, she follows her instincts and she's very rarely wrong. Josie knew that there was a case when Nysa drowned herself but no one else thought so. Being the typical Josie she pushed and dug until she proved her point. The problem was the evidence. This case really got under my skin. It was something new and you know most other detectives wouldn't have even thought there was a case there.

Josie's team as ever were there for her backing her up all the way. Each character has developed so much over the 10 books in this series. You do not need to have read them all to enjoy this book but if you have then you will have much stronger feels on what Lisa makes her characters go through in this book.

The book was very fast-paced and difficult to put down. Lisa had me on the edge for the whole book. From the first chapter to the very last I was engaged and enthralled by the story. I can't wait for more!

As always thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book and for letting me take part in this tour

I know I am a broken record but this is by far the best one in the series. It was a chilling, so chilling and intense ride, and a story where tears leaked.

For me, the backstory of the person doing the heinous crime didn’t interest me. This was because the way these awful acts were carried out, was so inventive but so chilling, it was the forefront of the whole book. I was fascinated with how the events unfurled. I was gazumped with how these people were dying and behaving the way they were.

This is definitely going to be a book that goes in my top books for the year. I was so worried about Josie and the team, the family, no one was safe. Breath Your Last packed such a punch, I need a break from reading. My emotions are all over the place, Lisa has created a unit you care about and bloody worry about and here it’s no different. My jaw was dropping and I was completely fearful for the everyone involved. It is hard to explain why without spoiling it. But what I will say, if someone can harm you, without anyone suspecting anything, at any time, how can it not be terrifying.

The title of this book has way too many meaning that I really don’t want to explore. On reflection, its chilling but its perfect and its a sign of things to come.

With one of Lisa’s books, you just can’t get enough of her storytelling nor Denton and the world she is building there. Each book we discover a new area, we meet new well-crafted characters, she adds new layers of fear and man these killers are not ones you want to cross paths with. Do we dare delve in Lisa’s dark dark mind?

Things are never as they seem, initial thoughts are never quite right and always expected the unexpected. I am never disappointed when I read a Josie Quinn book, there is always action, thrills and death-defying rescues, but maybe nothing too elaborate next time? Just a thought.
