I love a cookbook that is separated into seasons! Makes meal planning enjoyable to be able to flip to the current season and browse the recipes. Within the seasons the recipes are split between Savory and Sweet to further aid in browsing. Easy to read design of the recipe pages along with classification and lots of photos, the one drawback would be that many of the recipes seem a bit time consuming for everyday weeknight use.

Thanks to Melissa Petitto, Chartwell Books and NetGalley for this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is awesome! It has lots of great plant-based recipes and I can't wait to make some. I like that it was categorized by season, which isn't typically for a cookbook.

This is one of the best plant-based cookbooks ever. Inside the cookbook you will find Seasonal fruits and Veggies listed before the recipes for that season, (spring, summer, winter, fall). The healthy recipes are then listed in a Savory Section and Sweet Section. I have made the coconut bread, peach crumble and baked apple cider donuts. They were very easy to make and delicious.

Here's what I like about his book. First, the recipes are separated by season which manages to feel like both a stylistic and practical choice. The recipes recommend with type of dairy substitute to use. Coconut milk and almond milk taste very different. A recipe may work with either but will probably taste best with one over the other. The photos are gorgeous and make me want to eat (and cook). There are allergy notes at the top of each recipe like 'gluten-free' or 'soy-free.' This is helpful for me as I have allergies. And finally, there are recipes for two of the holly grail vegan foods, mac and cheese and crème brulee. I don't know if either of them works but I will definitely be giving them a try.
The one criticism I have for this book is the use of alternative sweeteners. This is probably just me but I'm not eating plant based as a choice, I have to eat this way. Again this is due to my allergies. Substituting the one thing I can actually eat, sugar, for something that will not taste as good is disappointing. It adds another layer of compromise to my already compromised life.

... I am bi-country at the moment

When life for the entire universe and planet turns on its end and like everyone else you "have nothing to do" while your place of work is once again closed and you are continuing to be in #COVID19 #socialisolation as the #secondwave is upon us, superspeed readers like me can read 300+ pages/hour, so yes, I have read the book … and many more today.

I requested and received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley, the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review.

From the publisher, as I do not repeat the contents or story of books in reviews, I let them do it as they do it better than I do 😸.

Full of delicious ways to cook vegetables that you might otherwise have overlooked, The Plant-Based Cookbook is a culinary road map to a healthier you and a healthier planet.

Separated into seasonal recipes, this book gives you all the tools you need to eat healthy all year round. The Plant-Based Cookbook is a guide to delicious recipes for the growing movement of people that are consuming less and less meat in favour of consuming food that comes straight from the earth. Each season has a section of savoury recipes and a section of sweet recipes, all explained with easy-to-understand instructions. Food Facts are included throughout to explain all of the wonderful vitamins and nutrients in the fruits, vegetables, and seeds used to make these plant-based recipes.

Every recipe is classified with a slew of dietary parameters for those who are looking to be gluten-free, raw, sugar-free, unprocessed, soy-free, or grain-free in addition to being vegan.

Some recipes included are:
**Italian Stuffed Artichokes
**Lemon Poppy Seed Doughnuts
**Jackfruit Jerk Carnitas with Pineapple-Mango Salsa
**Dark Chocolate Covered Watermelon Bites with Sea Salt
**Lentil and Mushroom Loaf with Glaze
**Peanut Butter Caramel Apples
**Cashew Cheesecake with Date Walnut Crust
**Crispy Baked Vegan Mac and Cheese (because even vegans need comfort food)

By removing meat and most processed foods, a plant-based diet focuses on whole foods that are packed with nutrients and low in trans fats. This type of diet is ideal for body-builders or endurance athletes who need the carbohydrates in vegetables for energy more than the protein and trans fat of meat that builds muscle but can also slow them down. Plant-based diets treat food like preventative medicine. By eating plant-based meals consistently, studies have shown that people employing a plant-based diet showed increases in energy, stronger memory as they aged, lower levels of obesity, lower rates of systemic inflammation in healthy participants, and lower rates of type-2 diabetes patients. Additionally, rates of heart disease were 22% lower in vegetarians. When you focus on only putting good food into your body, the clean-food detox is an excellent way to lose weight healthily and keep it off in a sustainable way.

Join the growing movement of healthy, plant-based living and see for yourself what all the fuss is about. Treat your body with the kindness it craves and adopt a plant-based diet!

We cannot keep our plant-based diet/cookbooks on our shelves - people love them. What I love about this book is that the recipes are adaptable to people in your life who want animal products added to things (most of the main courses can have meat added for your picky eaters, ditto cheese as I will only eat cheese that comes from an animal. Tapioca cheese? UDDER NONSENSE!!) The science and ideology are well explained about how plant-based foods can change your life and it is understandable by people of all reading levels - ie. it is not too technical. Melissa Petitto is a great author of books like these, and once again, she has created a stellar book.

The recipes are well written and understandable by cooks of all levels and the photos make the food very appealing to myself and other lovers of food out there.

What I love about the book is that it mostly uses whole ingredients instead of pre-prepared and packaged foods. I do draw the line at making my own cheese, and canning tomatoes but the more "ingredients" you use the better. My one nephew says that I never have any food in my house, only ingredients --- that is why I cook so much. I also refuse to eat or cook with "chick'n" and its 88 ingredients vs. 🐔chicken🐔 having one!)

A great book - it comes out right before Christmas so it would be a great book for anyone who is making 2021 their year of health. (If you have to, do an "IOU THIS BOOK" gift certificate lest you have to go to the mall to a bookstore on the 22nd - add in a baked donut pan and your person will be ecstatic!)

As always, I try to find a reason to not rate with stars as I simply adore emojis (outside of their incessant use by "🙏-ed Social Influencer Millennials/#BachelorNation survivors/Tik-Tok and YouTube Millionaires/snowflakes etc. " on Instagram and Twitter... Get a real job, people!) so let's give it 🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩 as I am making those lemon-poppyseed donuts this afternoon!!!!

Wonderful recipes! I've been a vegetarian for over two years not and am learning to branch out from my tried and true recipes. These were tasty dishes with easy to acquire ingredients, even in my small town market. I look forward to purchasing this for my library and enjoying new meals!

A vegan cookbook where the recipes are divided seasonally. Most of the ingredients are easy to source and all of the recipes have accompanying photographs, which in my opinion, is a must for a cookbook.

I am particularly looking forward to trying the Crispy Cauliflower BBQ Tacos, the Strawberry Shortcake and the Blueberry Coffee Cake.

Thank you #NetGalley and Quarto Publishing for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really great cookbook with lots of fresh new takes on recipes! I really like the seasonal sections and find that it is such a handy resources especially when following a plant based diet!

Such a lovely book! I like the idea that is not used that much, the separation of recipes according to four seasons. Gives us a nice way of being focused on seasonal ingredients. The photos in the book are very appealing, and to me a cookbook should always have a picture of every dish, but lately I’ve read lots of books without pictures.

My favourite thing about this book, besides the recipes, is the food fact part. It’s nice to read what you are actually eating when you use ginger, raspberry etc. I found several recipes I will try, and I’m sure some of them will make it on my list of foods I make regularly. I’m happy that this book has used a lot of the same ingredients I normally use, but in different ways. This might not be all healthy recipes, and I try to make healthy, fresh food, but it has plenty of those recipes as well. 4,5 stars.

Plant Based Cookbook is a vibrant and exciting collection of recipes based on the seasons. The single best most appealing thing was the abundance of bright colourful photographs to accompany the recipes. For me this is they key to a good cookbook and encourages the reader to have a go at new things with confidence. The recipe selection was good and there are a few dishes I am itching to have a go at, some not so much. I liked the way the book is not laden with unnecessary waffle and it really is all about the food. Great recipe book.

A plant-based cookbook for all seasons, Melissa Petitto’s plant-based cookbook delivers just what it sets out to do. Showcasing seasonal fruits and vegetables, Petitto’s recipes will excite anyone already living a plant-based lifestyle and entice the plant-based curious. Some of my favorites include black rice ramen with kombu dashi-miso broth and spring vegetables, strawberry shortcake with whipped coconut cream, the carmelized golden tomato tarte tatin and the roasted brussels sprouts with dried figs, furikake and slivered almonds. There’s not much in the way of narrative, just a few brief sentences that accompany each recipe, which feels appropriate and lets the food shine through. Thank you to Chartwell Books and NetGalley for the advanced review copy of this book.

Plant-Based Cookbook by Melissa Petitto, R.D. is gorgeously designed and perfectly organized for the home-cook. The meals are both separated by season and then again in the categories of savory or sweet. What I loved most is that this book focuses not only on plant-based meals but seasonal meals! It's often hard to make plant-based recipes from books due to the seasonal availability of fresh produce, but this book solves that problem for you. Each recipe is very easy to follow along with and paired with a beautiful picture of the finished product. I really enjoyed the additional food facts about the nutritional value of the ingredients in the meals. Definitely a recommendation for anyone looking to add more seasonal produce to your meals!

5/5 Stars!

Plant-Based Cookbook is a well written and beautifully designed cookbook! Vibrantly colored food photographs accompany the recipes to provide inspiration. The book is divided into the four seasons and at the beginning of each chapter there is a list of the produce that is in season, guaranteeing the most flavorful outcomes for the recipes. Four of the seasonal recipes that stood out to me the most are collard green wraps, jackfruit jerk "carnitas", hasselback butternut squash with currants and hazelnuts, and pumpkin cashew cheesecake. These fresh and flavorful recipes would please even the pickiest of eaters and would be an excellent addition to a plant-based diet.

A beautiful cookbook with a photo to show each recipe (which I find really helpful - even if my meals never look as pretty!) I am always looking for new meat free recipes to try and there are plenty here to choose from. I particularly like the Fall section as there were some surprising ideas there.

I would definitely recommend this cookbook.

Many thanks to NetGalley and publishers for letting me read and review it!

Just starting to convert to vegetarianism so this was a good starting book for me. Eye catching cover & beautifully illustrated pages with some gorgeous recipes (albeit not grain free as stated) Little nutritional bites of information peppered throughout. All in all a fantastic book to help you begin that journey to a healthier you

I just finished reading this lovely cookbook from Melissa Petitto, and it's very well done. I really enjoyed that there are photos with each of the recipes-helps those of us that are very visual. Some more pluses were the Food Facts scattered throughout with nutrition info, the seasonality of the recipes, and the generous portion sizes (I hate vegan cookbooks that have small portions--don't they understand we need to eat more?).
One thing that concerned me, and I hope it's corrected before publication, is the mislabeling on recipes. Most of the sweet recipes are labelled "grain free", but they contain all purpose flour, cornstarch, and oats, all of which are grains. I wouldn't want someone getting ill due to the labels.
Overall this is a great cookbook, and I'm off to make the Quick Pickles now...

Thank you to NetGalley, Quarto Publishing Group, and the author for this advanced reader copy. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

What a great book!

Plant-Based Cookbook is filled with beautiful sounding recipes but what makes this book slightly different is that all the recipes are separated in to the four seasons, I love this idea! It has a good mix of meals & desserts under each season, each recipe is well written and easy to follow. I especially like the fact that the measurements are given in cups and grams.

The layout and design of the book are great, and the photos for each recipe are stunning.
My only issue is going to be deciding which meal to try first.

All in all a great cookbook to have in your collection, whether you’re on a strictly plant-based diet or if you’re a meat eater wanting to try something new.

I would recommend!

Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
