Really great book. If ever you could say you were glued to a book this one is definitely one. Great characters in Madison and Nate both who had major trust issues and a lot of baggage, but really learned to gel as the book progressed. Gripping storyline. Oh anni can't leave out Brody.

This is a brilliant start to a new series and it has so much potential due to Madison and Nate’s past experiences.
Both of them were wrongly convicted of crimes they did not commit and now, both out of prison their paths cross and Madison asks Nate for his help.
Nate has set up a private investigation business and Madison persuades him to let her work for him as she’s an ex cop.
Their first case is that of a missing girl from summer camp. Her grandmother asks them to help find her as the Police are getting nowhere.
When they meet the girl’s parents they have a feeling something is not right, but it takes a while to get to the bottom of it.
I loved Brody, the camp dog who is left to his own devices, until he takes a shine to Nate.
This is a great crime thriller and I loved the way the story came together at the end.
I’ll definitely be reading more books in this series.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

What an interesting start to a new series. I do not believe I have read this author before but I really enjoyed the way she wrote.

In the first book we are introduced to Madison, once a police officer herself and who has spent the last few years in jail for a crime she did not commit. Now that she is out she wants to find out who framed her. She teams up with Nate, who spent almost 2 decades serving time in prison for a crime he did not commit. But something gets in their way as they go about the search for the person that set Madison up.

Jenny went missing and Madison and Nate Madison “knows” there is more to the story than Jenny’s parents are telling. And there is more to Jenny than everyone knows.

I found this really interesting. The backstory on Madison is well written and while it is not the main part of the story, which is about Jenny’s disappearance. I look forward to learning more about Madison and Nate and their next case.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

New series and different publisher, but familiar writing style and still many twists and turns (also, a dog again ☺). I'm glad I requested ARCs for both this book and the next (Cry For Help, to be published just one month later) as it means I'll be able to start the second one today. So, yes, I really enjoyed this first part of the Madison Harper series as much as the author's previous three novels, no matter how much I had wished for a fourth Dean Matheson one.
This time, the plot is centered on a family with a missing child (and the summer camp from where she disappeared), but first we meet two detectives with unresolved pasts that will obviously be addressed again as the series progresses (of course, now I want to know all about them). The story is told in multiple points of view alternating in very short chapters, which makes it easy to decide to read "one more" again and again. Not that the book needs that to be "unputdownable". When I had to stop reading for a while, the characters and events stayed in my mind and I was very distracted. You've been warned! 😉

Thank you Bookouture & Netgalley for this ARC.

This is the first book in a new series. I really loved this book. This is one of my favorite genres. The story is about ex Detective Madison Harper and ex con Nate Monroe. Nate is working as a PI, and Madison finds him to help her uncover the truth about her past and a crime she didn’t commit. Nate is hired by Esme, to find her grand-daughter Jenny, who has gone missing from summer camp.
There were so many twists and turns that I needed to find out what happened, and never wanted to put this book down. The author did an amazing job of drawing the reader into the story and keeping them intrigued. I can’t wait to dive into the second book and continue reading about Nate and Madison’s story!

Shadow Falls is the first book in a new series. I really enjoyed this book. I was intrigued by the characters and loved the twists and turns throughout. I look forward to reading more books in this series and I will also be looking out for more books by Wendy Dranfield.

This is my first book by Wendy Dranfield. The title, the book cover and synopsis sounded really good. The story was suspenseful. I chuckled when she said San Jose, CA is humid… uh I’ve never in my life experienced a humid day in San Jose and I’ve lived here for 48 years. Other than that the story was believable and very intriguing. I liked how the POV changed from person to person. It carried the story. I loved the addition of the dog and the dynamics it added. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I do want closure on the loose strings left to be revealed in future books. I actually like it when authors close out one book but leave you hanging enough to make sure you want to read the next one. Thankfully it’s not a long wait!

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

SUPER crime thriller debut for a new series, dealing with an investigation into the disappearance of a 12 year old girl (Jenny) missing from summer camp. The 2 investigators are ex cons( framed & wrongly convicted) hoping to to clear both names for their future benefits.. Well written with high suspense leading up to a stunning conclusion. Less 1 star due to not liking Nate being a cocaine snorter. Enjoyed the unusual plot & RECOMMEND. Will definitely look for #2 in this series. Thanks to NetGalley & Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Find My Child by Wendy Dranfield is the first of what I hope will be many more books in a new series. The series features a former police officer, Madison, who was framed for a crime she did not commit and is now out of prison on parole. Nate is a former priest student who was convicted of a crime he did not commit and was exonerated within a year of his death date.
Nate has become a private investigator of sorts and Madison contacts him asking for his help clearing her name and finding the son she left when she was sent to prison. Nate does not like or trust police officers and all Madison can think about is clearing her name and finding her son.
When Nate is contacted about a girl gone missing from summer camp he only takes the case because he begins to feel for the girls Grandmother who won't take no for an answer when she wants to hire him. Nate and Madison agree to check into things before heading to investigate Madison's case. The twists and turns will keep you reading long past your bedtime and I am really looking forward to another book about this pair.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this for a fair review.

This is the first book in the Detective Madison Harper Series. Enjoyed it once it got going. Very easy read that the pages just kept turning which is strange considering the pace was bit slow for my liking. Considering the nature of the storyline it needed the faster pace and with a little more going on. It lacked the rollercoaster/suspense factor. Loved Madison and Nate as characters and also love them as a duo. There is a lot of reference to there own personal stories which I thought there would have been more about but it does make me excited for the next instalment in the series. The last 1/4 of the book was where it really got going and I didn’t see a lot of it coming and it was really enjoyable but just a pity the first 3/4’s were dragged out a bit to much and took so long to get there. I would recommend this one and will definitely be waiting patiently for the next one.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this ARC thats due to be published on the 25th of Jan.

It's been a long time since I read a book set in the US, but the blurb of this book and the beautiful cover enticed me enough to give it a go. I'm now glad I did so as I really enjoyed this book.

Madison Harper is an ex-detective just released from prison. She had been framed by someone for a murder she didn't commit. Now that she's out with no place to live and no money she wants to find out who did this to her and she wants to clear her name. Someone stole six years of her life and has taken her son away from her. In order to do this she approaches a private investigator, Nate Monroe, to help her in her quest. Like Madison, Nate is a damaged soul, an ex-convict who has spent seventeen years on death-row for the murder of his fiancee. But Nate is innocent, he was framed too for this murder but was eventually released after new evidence proved his innocence. He knows who's behind this and is determined to find the person responsible for destroying his once-happy life. So both Madison and Nate are on a mission.

At first Nate is reluctant to help Madison. He doesn't like bent-cops. But then hearing and believing her story, he agrees to take her on as his employee. She will help him with his investigations and at the same time he would look into her case.

Their first case together is that of a missing nine-year-old girl who has disappeared while on Summer camp in a remote area of Northern California. There are a couple of suspicious individuals at the camp, but with no evidence and no body it will be very difficult for Nate and Madison to find any clues. The local police does not appreciate their interference and is reluctant to help. It's as though they too have something to hide. One thing is sure, something fishy is going on at the mysterious camp. What happened to Jenny? Is she lost? Did she drown in the lake? Or has she been kidnapped? Is she still alive or buried in the surrounding woods? Will Nate and Madison find the truth?

Well this book brought together two very interesting characters, each dragging a heavy baggage behind. Both Nate and Madison have suffered enormously at the hands of unscrupulous individuals who have ruined their lives. I loved these characters and their determination to seek the truth. In this book we don't have just one main character as we usually have in crime stories but two. Even though Madison is mentioned on the cover, Nate carries equal weight in the plot.

It felt as though this was not just one book, but three in one. We have the main missing person story, and then both Nate's and Madison's back stories. The author sometimes switches from the main plot to either Nate's past in prison or Madison's earlier life. We also have some chapters from the pov of a psychologist. I couldn't understand this character's significance, but then towards the end everything made sense.

The plot is well-written, entertaining, fast-paced and at times tense. We have a number of unexpected twists and turns and red herrings that keep the reader on their toes. I found myself desperately wanting to find out what happened to Jenny. The author leaves us clueless till the unexpected ending. The book ends with a massive cliffhanger, making the reader want to go straight to book 2 - Cry for Help, which is exactly what I've done.

I enjoyed reading this book and have no qualms in recommending it. With thanks to Bookouture for an ARC copy of 'Find My Child' through Netgalley.

An interesting and unusual mystery. Both main characters are ex cons wrongly accused who hope to help each other while trying to solve the mystery of a girl who went missing from summer camp. Lots of suspects, twists and surprises.

Book one in a new series. I loved the characters in this book. The two main characters are flawed in so many ways. Both Madison and Nate are ex cons and are looking for the people who framed them. Meanwhile there is a missing child at a camp. They team up together to find out what happened to Jenny. The camp workers, the cop on the case and the family of the missing girl are all a bit sketchy. Will Nate ever find the man who framed him for killing his fiance? Will Madison ever find out what happened to her son after she was sent to prison? I cannot wait to read the next book in the series to find out. I loved this book and want to read more by this author.

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the wonderful read.

4.5 This is a very very good mystery. RIght away I got involved with the story, multiple mysteries going on, some solved by the end of the book, some left to solve. Main characters both who had been framed for crimes and were wanting justice and resolution. Looking forward to reading more of her books, a new author for me

I rather enjoyed this book, and I really look forward to the next one in the series. The author held back just enough to keep me turning the pages and that ending was quite the surprise!

Thank You Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC! This review is based on my honest opinion.

This book is the first series of Detective Madison Harper's series. The story begins with Nate Monroe, who was released from the death row after proving his innocence for the murder of his fiancée, Stacey is working as a PI. He then pairs up with Madison Harper, who was a former detective and who was also released from the prison for serving up a crime she didn't commit and sets off to find a twelve year old girl named Jenny, who had been missing from the summer camp. They were hired by the girl's grandmother, Esme although both parents seemed to be reluctant for Nate and Madison to investigate the case due to some reasons...

This was really good!!! Quiet unputdownable, fast paced thriller with so much twists and turns that you wouldn't expect! I couldn't even put this book down and I was reading it till the end! The writing was really good and the author did a good job drawing the reader into the story. As a reader, you would feel sorry for Madison and Nate for the injustices they have faced and their determination to clear their names. I really enjoyed reading this book and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the second part of the series!!!!

Completely unputdownable, fast paced thriller that will keep you awake at all night reading and wanting more--worth five stars!

This book started promising but soon left me cold when I realised it was going to turn into a Jack Reacher type series. Wronged people drifting around American cities solving crimes whilst not managing to solve their own
The characters are hard to engage with, a drug taking ex trainee priest, and a lesbian cop who likes men and has a missing child.
The story of the crime in this book, a missing child who was last seen at a summer camp, is predictable and easy to see the plot twist before they arrive.

This is the first book I have read by this author. I'm not real sure how I feel about the book as parts of it drew me in but other parts I really struggled with. Also I didn't care for the fact that I have to read to the next book in the series to learn what happens to some of the characters. It sort of leaves you hanging.

Nate has just gotten out of prison (death row) for a murder he didn't commit. Madison also has just gotten out of prison with a reduced sentence. Nate is doing private detective work trying to help solve crimes and free innocent people much like himself. Madison hears about his work and locates him in person. She basically begs him for a job helping to solve crimes as a private investigator with him. Before Madison went to prison for manslaughter, she was a detective.

Jenny is a young girl who disappeared from a summer camp. Her grandmother contacts Nate to locate her. At the time, she contacts Nate, Jenny has been missing for two weeks. Nate & Madison visit Jenny's parents to learn more about them along with learning about her grandmother. They also visit the camp to learn more about Jenny's actions and movements before she disappeared. As they get to know the surroundings and people associated with Jenny, it is apparent things are not as they first appear.

Thanks to the publisher, Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.
