Thanks so much to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for my copy of Calvin the Christmas Tree by Stephen G. Bowling. It published December 9, 2019.
This was a sweet Christmas story about an anthropomorphized tree named Calvin who is little and wants to be a Christmas tree. This beautifully illustrated book, (seriously, I would frame the pictures from this book and hang them up!), encourages young readers to hope and dream and to believe in themselves!
Perfect for Christmastime, and would make a great Christmas gift for any young readers who enjoy picture books!

Thank you to NetGalley, Stephen G, Brown and BooksGoSocial for the ARC of Calving the Christmas Tree.
This is my personal review.

Calvin was a little tree and he had one wish and that was to be a Christmas tree. He knew one day if he wished hard enough someone would want him for their tree.
This was a perfect heartwarming story that every Mom and Dad and Grandparent will read to their children and grandchildren year after year.
The illustrations were beautiful. This is one that children will remember for years!
I will give this to family and friend as a gift this holiday.

Calvin the Christmas Tree by Stephen G. Bowling. I loved the story of the little boy who rescued Calvin the Christmas tree from being a lonely tree on Christmas Eve and took him home to be planted in his yard. Read it to your children I think they will love it.

What a lovely little story for Christmas time. Thank you for letting me read this.
The story tells of Calvin, the smallest Christmas tree, and how he is encouraged and discouraged from trying to reach his dream of being a Christmas tree with a family. It's a wonderful tale and a good message for children who are perhaps a little different or who haven't developed as quickly as their friends. What is meant to be will be and we all grow to meet our potential if we just try as hard as we can.

Oh, I just loved this heartwarming Christmas story. The illustrations have a vintage feel and reminded me of my childhood. I love the message of hope weaved into this story. Calvin the Christmas Tree packs lots of themes in a short and sweet story. Calvin had the support of his peers. They cheered him on and helped him have hope and helped him drown out the negativity. Calvin's hope and patience all paid off in the end. I highly recommend this book! Thank you Netgalley for this gem. I will be posting a review on Instagram soon.

Cute Christmas tree story. It ould make a nice stocking stuffer for some small child.I especially liked that the tree is planted and grows into a great tree in time. I hate Christmas tree stories that have trees looking forward to be being xmas trees, thinking it's the greatest goal of life, only to find it's life has been sacrificed for a couple short days or weeks of glory, than off to a landfill or lake, or mulch. Too depressing (The Fir Tree by Andersen comes to mind.) Overall, pleasing tale! Loved the illustrations; it will likely look lovely in color!

I loved this book. Calvin was the smallest tree who was never picked. Until a young boy came across him. And turned him into a well loved Christmas tree. This book would be great to read all year round, not just at Christmas. I would definitely buy this for my brother to read to my niece.

A very uplifting and sweet Christmas story to read to your kids. I can see a family making a tradition of reading this every year! I loved the artwork! Kids will love the pictures because they are bright and colorful!

Christmas books are a favorite at my house. My children gravitate to them all year round. This book has a heartwarming story about a little tree who didn't give up on his big dreams to be a Christmas tree. the underlying message is one all kids need to hear. You never know where you can get if you don't reach for the stars!!

I loved the story but I felt the illustrations lacked luster. The pictures seemed very old and outdated. I wish they would have felt more modern like the story.

Thanks netgalley for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.

What a delightful read! I read this aloud to my niece and the writing was just right for a read-aloud book. She and I were caught up in Calvin’s story. Beautiful illustrations...it would be a great gift for any child, perhaps as a present that could be opened on Christmas Eve.

A story about a small Christmas tree on a farm with the most charming illustrations. This was a pleasing read, it’s bound to appeal to children in the lead up to Christmas.

This was a very sweet story about a Christmas tree that was the underdog of the Christmas tree farm. The only thing that bothered me was that so many sentences were dependent clauses and started with conjunctions like "But" or "And." The pictures were very nicely done and the story was heartwarming. I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

This story gets you lost in the spirit of Christmas and I can imagine families curled up with their children reading this on the lead up to Christmas, and for everyone to get excited.
Lovely book, with a lovely meaning behind it. Perfectly illustrated too.
Perfect book for a Christmas Eve book.

A sweet, sweet story that could easily become a Christmas classic. Young and old alike will love this beautiful tale of the littlest tree at a tree farm that grew to be the perfect tree for a boy and his family. Encourage your Nana to read it on Christmas Eve and you’ll have a new and special tradition. Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the advanced copy.

My 4 year old son and I loved Calvin the Christmas Tree. It is a beautifully written story about a small Christmas tree who has only one wish. The book is a little longer than I would normally read to my son due to his short attention span but this story kept his attention throughout and after we had finished it he fell asleep whispering Calvin.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for my copy.
