I have loved every Dan Riley book in the series so far. This one was just as crazy a story but a little more predictable than the last few. I kept waiting for the surprise but it just never came. No real twist that wasn't obvious from about a third into the book. The story itself was still compelling, but with nothing to figure out, I was left with just following a path I already knew until I got to the end. I was reading passively waiting to see when and how the author would reveal what was glaringly obvious. Even the sudden epiphany that one of the cops had was so blatant that I could not believe no one had made the link before. Then it was leaked to the press because no one else had noticed either. How? This felt rushed and less well thought out than the previous books. I don't feel like I got any more insight into the characters either. None of the new characters was particularly interesting or likable. I literally kept reading just to see if I was right.

I will read more in the series as they come out because of the strength of interest I had in the first three books, but I can't really get behind this one.

When I requested this book I didn't know it was the 4th in a series, however, I had no problem whatsoever reading it as a stand alone.

In this book we face The Rose Petal Ripper, a serial killer who goes for victims named after flowers, leaving a rose on their bodies after he kills them. This story is narrated by Daisey, the third victim, and Dan Riley, the detective. We also get to read about the past of the serial killer, so we have an idea from the start of who he might be and his presumable motivations.

Our main character, Daisey, leaves the party early and heads home. That very night, she is attacked by someone she apparently recognizes but unfortunately couldn't remember a thing afterwards. She barely survives the attack and is found right in time.

I must confess I wasn't much into this book right at the start. I didn't like Daisey right away, but I kept reading and I'm glad I did so. She is a troubled character, with some past trauma she hasn't dealt yet when it comes to her past toxic relationship, even though she can't see it right away.

After the attack we get to see the notorious change ir her behaviour and how it affected her at so many levels. Then I think we finally get to see the real Daisey and at this point she became a very interesting character since she let her guard down, way more real and someone you can actually sympathize.

Even though the ending was a bit predictable, there was some details I didn't get quite right. I had the correct idea, I just didn't know how to assemble it all together. By that means, I think the path the author took was so clever and interesting! Besides that, it also addresses important themes we should be talking more in our reality, and I loved that in particular.

In the end, when I thought I would be DNF'ing this book, turns out it was worth 4 stars!

Another great read in the Detective Dan Riley series.
Daisey is brutally attacked in her home and is barely alive when the Police are called out.
She’s the latest victim of a killer who seems to be targeting women with names linked to flowers.
We have some flashback chapters of the killer’s childhood and things are not quite what they seem.
Daisey agrees to having a lodger when she returns home but takes a while to get used to her being there.
Her ex is also causing her problems so Daisey is relieved when told she needs to move in with a friend as the killer has struck again.
The identity of the killer was a surprise and I loved the nail biting conclusion where it was literally a life or death situation.
A great read.

What a read and so much more then the blurb leads you to believe. Your thrown straight into the storyline and the pace never lulls throughout the story. Really well written the way the storyline evolves going from past to present but yet not seeing how they connect to each other and keeps you thinking until it all comes together. I had my suspicions on what was happening and how it was going to play out but it was still a really interesting well thought out storyline. Loved the different characters especially Daisey and Dan Riley the detective. Loved it and couldn’t put it down and it just flowed well. Definitely recommend...

A complicated case for Detective Dan Riley and a lot of time pressure since they are sure that Daisey is not the last. But then, things seem to fall into place, all evidence hints at Daisey’s ex Luke who behaves highly suspiciously, too. Dan remains sceptical, he is sure that there is much more behind the coward murders, however, who might have a reason to direct police’s attention towards Luke? Can the forensic psychologist whom Dan is forced to consult shed new light on what the investigators have found?

I totally adored Anna-Lou Weatherley’s novel “The Stranger’s Wife” and her latest thriller did not disappoint me, either. It is not just the classic play of who is quicker and cleverer - the police or the murderer – it is the psychological profile of the wanted person which is extremely interesting and cleverly drafted to make it a really exceptional thriller.

Daisey is hit twice, first, her fiancé leaves her for a younger woman, then, she is attacked and seriously injured. Additionally, she cannot pay the expensive flat alone, this is why a new colleague moves in with her. She isn’t alone anymore, but her mental state is unstable. She seems to hear voices or people moving around in the flat, mixes up what her new flatmate tells her and she has some flashbacks which bring back fragments of the evening in question. She is really not doing fine and quite palpably, the horror isn’t over for her even though many friends and the police take care of her.

The narration is interrupted time and again by a second line of the plot which is set about two decades in the past and tells the story of twins who are quite close but also mysteriously witness some serious misadventures. It is obvious from the start that this part gives insight in the murderer’s childhood and provides the reason for his strange behaviour. However, you cannot link this narration to any of the characters of the present.

A mysterious plot which remains blurry for a long time but does not lose its suspense. A superb read which I enjoyed from the first to the last page.

Loved it, loved it, loved it! You are straight into the storyline, Daisey is assaulted and left for dead. When she wakes up she can't remember what happened. I loved Daisey as a character, and was totally gripped by the story.
This is the 4th book in the Detective Dan Riley series, but reads brilliantly as a standalone. I really enjoyed reading the story from his perspective too, and I already know I was to read more in this series.
There is a third narrative running alongside Daisey and Dan's, and this was where it got really interesting, and this was what kept me up reading late at night, and again at 5am when I couldn't sleep.
It was when the three narratives started to weave together that this book really excelled. I love a book that makes me over think and form multiple theories as I read, and with this I changed my mind a lot!!
This is one of those books that I wished I was buddy reading with someone, because I really wanted to talk to someone about it!!
This is one of the best books I have read in ages, I loved it.

I found this book quite confusing at first and didn’t think I was going to enjoy it. However I persevered and I’m so glad I didn’t. Once I had got my head around the characters and it flipping from the past to the present I really enjoyed it.

This book had me excited and on the edge of my seat wanting to know the answers. It was right there in front of me but who knew?
This booked opened my eyes to problems which i would of never thought about previously and also made me have empathy towards Gareth even though I feel as though I should of.

I would certainly recommend this book if you are after a book to keep you hooked. It’s a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.

Daisy is left for dead by a serial killer, with no memory of what happened to her and we follow her journey of trying to uncover the who and they whys of this story. Daisy is a character who is easy to support but I found the rest of the line up largely unlikeable, apart perhaps from Riley the detective. Gripping at times this book is let down by its somewhat unbelievable ending, and the twist that you expect but that never materialises. Overall not one id rave about, but perfectly readable.

Daisey was left for dead as the Rose Petal Ripper's third victim, but managed to pull through albeit with a lost memory of the events surrounding the accident. Detective Dan Riley is on the case to work with Daisey and the information from the other two cases to find the killer.

I wish I would have known this was part of a series of books before I requested the book for review. It can be read as a standalone, but I would much rather read an entire series, especially in order. I did enjoy the lost memory conflict to Daisey's accident and thought it made a really interesting plot decision. It was just really predictable and the characters were just average.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I can say it will not be my last. I was addicted from page one and if it wasn’t for homeschooling my kids I wouldn’t have put it down. Although I figured out the plot twist it didn’t take away from the story. I had to find out what happened to Daisy and if she’d regain her memory. Great book and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys thriller books.

I seem to read a lot of books that include a main character who loses their memory after some horrific ordeal, where you're given a bit of insight into what might have happened as you try to work out the answer along with the victim. In this case, and because of the title, I was able to work out who the killer was, but not the why.

The book revolves around Daisey, who survives a brutal attack, her ex-fiancé, her new roommate, and the officers who are involved in her case. Weatherley gives us someone to hate in the form of the boyfriend, who is hot and cold, and very manipulative of Daisey even as she recuperates in a hospital room. Then there is a co-worker who hits on her at a work event. And a roommate who is kind of thrust on her because of her financial need to maintain the rent on her apartment. I had a hard time with the voice of "Dan" the police officer on her case - for some reason I kept getting confused and thought his character was female, maybe because they called him Riley, but most likely because of the character development.

There was an interesting back story, and a red herring that was fairly easy to spot. There are scenes that will make you hear the creepy slasher music in your head. But Daisey's fairly quick recovery and an unbelievable ending made this fall just short of expectations.

The Woman Inside by Anna-Lou Weatherley was a book with a very modern story about Daisey who was attacked after a works party by a serial killer. I did not really enjoy this story as I worked the plot out as soon as Daisey came round after the attack. There were no surprises for me, I kept waiting for a twist but there wasn't one.
I liked the character of Dan, the policeman, and I believe the author has written more books with this character in so I would be interested to read more of those.

This is a good read that kept my attention throughout. However, I did figure it out very early on. In spite of this it was still a story that has great relatable characters and lots going on. I definitely recommend any book written by this author. She never disappoints.

This book was ok,just ok,didn,t find it unputdownable at all though and didn’t like the pill popping main character very much,have preferred the authors previous books.

When it comes to books I like to dive in with no expectations and an open mind. Sadly I didn’t entirely enjoy this book. But everyone is different so don’t let my review shy you away from trying it.

This is the fourth book in the Dan Riley series and so far I have enjoyed them all. A good thriller with plenty of twists. I look forward to the next one.

This is the 4th book in the Dan Riley series, though can be read as a standalone. It centers on Daisey, who is attacked and left for dead in a similar way to 2 other recent murders, making it appear that there is a serial killer on the loose. Daisey cannot remember the attack, and Dan is racing against the clock to figure out what happened before another murder occurs. There are also some flashback chapters, but we don't know the identity of the family they feature.

I find Dan Riley extremely likeable and real. Usually I am annoyed when time is spent on the backstory of detectives solving a case in books like this, but I enjoy reading about Dan, both in his professional endeavors as well as his personal life.

The reveal of the villain and the ending of the book is a little far-fetched, but I still enjoyed it. I thought I had figured out the twist early on (which was actually less convoluted than what ended up happening) but I was wrong.

Overall, I like this series and this book is no exception. I would recommend it to those who like police procedurals and mysteries. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I e enjoyed this authors previous novels and this is no exception - with one caveat about the killer. The first three quarters of the book is tense and you really doubt the protagonists choices but realize they are realistic and authentic for her. Although we guess early on how the big twist at the end will be revealed I somehow enjoyed knowing how it would resolve itself and I was enjoying it until I realized how it was going to reinforce an ugly stereotype. That made it difficult to give five stars so it’s four for me.

Daisy wakes up in hospital and she can’t remember a thing about the night before. Someone attacked her in her home. The ones she used to share with her cheating boyfriend Luke.

She should be dead but the murderer didn’t finish the job. There were two other women murdered in the same way with a rose placed in the centre of their chest. Since Luke left Daisy needs help with mortgage as she can pay for it alone so Iris a friend from work moves in too keep her company.

Daisy thinks someone’s watching her. Her memory’s are slowing coming back. She lied to the police to protect Luke his other relationship. But like lied to her and she needs to find the truth.

This story fell together brilliantly and the ending was perfect! Sometimes you never know someone’s true motives until it’s too late.

Told in two timelines it centres on a twin boy and girl, the mother thinks the boy is evil from birth and distances herself from him throughout his childhood. Then we have a serial killer killing women and leaving roses by their bodies. One of his victims survives his attack and it's a race against time for her and our favourite Detective Dan to solve the case before the killer strikes again. Unfortunately the surviving victim has amnesia which prevents her from remembering much about her own attack or the attacker. Even though I started piecing it together towards the end there were still twists and turns I didn't expect.
