The Missing Woman starts off really well. It's the 4th of July, and the entire neighborhood has gathered at the community pool to celebrate and watch the fireworks. On one side, you have the 'haves' - Sabine, Monica, and Carole - and on the other side are the 'have-nots' - Erica and Tish. Sabine and Erica have a history, one they've both chosen to keep secret. When Sabine goes missing that night, fingers soon start pointing.

While I liked the plot, I felt the story lost its way in the middle. After that, it was more telling than showing, which doesn't work for me.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

The missing woman by Georgina Cross is a psychological thriller that had me from the very start. A standalone story with a prologue that explodes of the page and sets the scene for the ensueing story. We then go to a beautiful summers day in Hunstville, Alabama on the 4th July. All the privileged and beautiful people are relaxing along with the people from the other side of town, around the community pool. One woman, Sabine is seen leaving the pool area and that is the last time anyone see her. Erica, is the narrator of the story and worries that she may have seen something wrong when Sabine left the pool.
From here on in the suspense and tension to the story keeps up a pace that has you turning the pages as fast as they can be read. The chapters are kept short and this just aids the flow of the story. I had no idea what had haopened to Sabine and just raced through this story, dying to discover the secrets the pages held. I won't give any spoilers but let's just say, things that happen in the past do have a habit of coming back to haunt you! And haunt it does!
If you like your stories with plenty of mystery amd suspense that is almost able to raise the blood pressure, The Missing Woman is worth a read!
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the copy if the book for my review

The Missing Woman is a great thriller that's so hard to put down! I really liked Erica and Sabine and found it easy to put myself in their shoes. This book is full of twists and turns and secrets, which is a combination I'm always interested in. I couldn't wait to find out what happened to Sabine, and the ending is really satisfying. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read The Missing Woman...I'm excited to read more by this author. : )

This was a slow burn mystery/thriller book.

The story was well paced out and it kept me guessing until the end.

Everyone is a suspect to the police after Saline goes missing.

Its a book full of betrayal, mystery and suspense.

Highly recommend reading this.

Welcome to Green Cove,a community that is situated at the base of the Appalachian Mountains and where the rich and beautiful with their lavish houses are separated from the not so wealthy by a golf course and a nature reserve. Our main character and narrator of this gripping thriller Erica had at one time wanted to be able to mingle amongst the likes of Sabine Miller and her beautiful friends Monica and Carol but those desires swiftly change when Sabine mysteriously disappears. After Erica and her best friend Tish find themselves caught up in the investigation, it gradually becomes apparent that life isn't always greener on the other side. Their apparently safe and secure neighbourhood is a hot bed of secrets, lies and deceit but what is the truth behind Sabine's disappearance? As is common in this age of social media, certain members of the community have their own opinions and are not shy about sharing them on the community Facebook Group Post where they had the opportunity to pass judgement without fear of recriminations. Almost every character in this story was harbouring some sort of secret including Erica herself and I can't honestly say that I thought any of the characters were very likeable although I did feel a bit of sympathy for Sabine once the truth about her situation was revealed. I also felt some empathy for younger Erica during the chapters that were set twenty five years in the past.

After opening with a intense prologue the story is then quite a slow burner until you reach the last quarter of the book where it becomes a full blown, intense psychological thriller. The plot held my attention throughout the story which contains some unexpected twists and turns and some clever reader manipulation by the author. Georgina Cross is a very talented author and I look forward to reading many more of her books in the future.

I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. This was another awesome book by an amazing author. Sabine is hanging out with her friends at the pool on the 4th of July. She stares across the pool and gives Erica a look which completely takes her by surprise as Sabine leaves the pool. Needless to say, Sabine's home is broken into, blood is found and Sabine is missing. The first suspect is her husband, Mark, who happens to be a well loved man who is a politician. As the search continues for Sabine, so many twists and turns until the very end. This book had me hooked and I so enjoyed it.

Ooooh, trust author Georgina Cross to run a great scam and fool me in her latest thriller.

Sabine went missing from the poolside after sending an indecipherable look at Erica. What did that mean? Her bracelet too was found at the edge of the area nearing the woods. A broken door and blood streaks at the doorway of her home were later found by her husband Mark. What happened to Sabine?

The book was from Erica’s POV as she along with her best friend Tish tried to make sense of the incident. Secrets were revealed and masks were thrown away as the claws came out. Each of them around Sabine had something to hide. The story in the present was conducted within the four walls of Erica’s home which I found to be quite intriguing; the world outside came alive via messages and apps.

I loved how the author made use of social media namely Facebook where a page devoted to Sabine was quickly created, a group was made, followed by discussion and inference of what could have happened to Sabine. It was fun to see how the world really revolved when someone went missing. The wicked ones soon came out of the woodwork.

The book changed its tangential course at 60% and moved at a warped speed at 70%. Nothing could have pulled me away from my kindle. There were a few things I suspected, though the author gave away nothing. But nobody would be a main character unless they had a bigger part to play. The twists hit me hard when the truth was finally revealed. Hoorah for girl power.

A note of humor – only a man would think that wearing only a mustache was a great disguise wherein nobody would recognize him.

Set in a heatwave, Erica and her best friend Tish are off to spend the day at their community pool with their kids and stay to watch the 4th of July fireworks. When they arrive the wealthy women are there with their sun loungers and monogrammed towels while they are struggling to even find a seat.

While enviously watching Sabine, Monica and Carol a look is exchanged between Erica and Sabine right before she leaves that doesn’t sit right with Erica. So when her husband Mark arrives at the pool looking for her and then goes home to discover blood and Sabine missing things do not look good. Mark is the county commissioner and is running for a second term.

Erica being the last to see her alive and choosing to conceal her bracelet that was dropped at the pool we also learn of a previous falling out and history between the pair.

The setting of a community split in two, with a golf course purposefully placed to separate the haves from the have nots, and the use of social media worked incredibly well to show people for what they really were.

After enjoying the author’s previous book The stepdaughter I was really looking forward to this. Georgina really has a way of analysing her characters and putting them in awkward situations. I loved how she wasn’t shy about using the stereotypes of envy and the grass is greener but twisting them to bring about a different narrative.

With some well placed twists this is another terrific character driven story centred around dynamic relationships.

I may be a little biased as the author of this book but I loved it. I loved writing it and placing these characters in an exaggerated version of the neighborhood where I used to live. It was also fun to explore friendships and far people's loyalty to one another will go when faced with secrets and danger. I hope you will also enjoy THE MISSING WOMAN!

“Their street is called Honors Row. Not my street, theirs. We live in the same neighborhood but orbit in entirely different circles. Those other women, as we call them.”

Sabine, the wife of local politician Mark Miller, currently running for re-election, goes missing on the Fourth of July amid the town fireworks. There is a blood trail, but no Sabine. Mark is distraught. Everyone is a suspect. Friends turn on friends and no one is who they seem. Erica, one of the other women who does not reside on Honors Row, has a sordid past with Sabine that has been kept hidden. As the drama in a designated *Find Sabine* Facebook chat group ramps up, you wonder...will she will ever be found?

The Missing Woman did not wow me. I have read some great domestic thrillers recently and this one just did not hold up to that standard. The plot is fairly unrealistic and it was a slowww, slow burn. I definitely prefer a faster paced thriller. Much of the book was fairly predictable and there were no great, unexpected twists that I have come to expect in a 5 star thriller. But, it did peak my interest in the last 25% of the book and I found myself furiously turning the pages to get to the conclusion. I would recommend The Missing Woman, though, if you enjoy slow burn who-done-its.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the arc of #TheMissingWoman in exchange for an honest review. Book published on January 6, 2021.

The missing woman is centred around the disappearance of Sabine who is a local politicians wife . It's July 4th and the whole town is out watching the fireworks. Earlier in in the day Erica is at the pool with her best friends and kids, she sees Sabine leave who drops a bracelet and gives her a strange stare. Nothing is as it seems though and everyone is hiding something.

I enjoyed this book, would I call it a psychological thriller no but it doesn't fit into any other category for me the thriller aspect was quite minimal coming quite near the end but I didn't enjoy it any less because of that fact. I liked Erica she was a good main character she has a great group of friends and I liked the mystery surrounding her. Why had Sabine looked at her there doesn't seem to be an obvious answer so going along that journey with her was great.

The layout of the story is fascinating we go from present time to a few weeks before sabines disappears but in blocks rather than jumping back and forth I really enjoyed that because it isn't overly confusing. We get little nuggets of information throughout which set up a narrative but there is something about it that doesn't make sense and the time jump does to some point.

This review is hard to write without littering it with spoilers it's really hard to discuss what I loved without telling you everything. What I will say is it's a great book and I enjoyed it so much, I will be reading more by Georgina Cross. Her written style is clever I found myself asking but what happened and why did she look at her what's going on? That is what I love!!!

I recommend this book for a thought provoking read! Yes the thriller aspect is lacking but it makes it an easy and fascinating read. I enjoyed every page flew through 80% in the first sitting and couldn't wait to finish it! There are a few twist I guessed the one that was quite left field I'm not sure how I worked it out. The book is a testament to find friendship and how deep the bonds go. It's fantastic. 3.5" rounded up to 4 *!

Thank you to the publisher, netgalley and Georgina Cross for the digital advance copy in exchange for my fair and honest review.

After a good debut, this one is a slow burner with mundane characters and a plot with so many holes that I flipped the pages to the end. But there are many other reviewers who have given it 5 stars so maybe it is something to do with me. 2.5 stars

After a fantastic debut last year with The Stepdaughter, I could not wait for Georgina Cross to release her next book. Thankfully I didn’t have long to wait. When the opportunity presented itself to be able to read and review an advanced copy of The Missing Woman, I jumped at the chance.

They say that two can keep a secret, if one of them is dead. Erica is haunted by a secret that she needs to share with you. Even though there was the usual separation of classes at the 4th of July pool party, it seemed to be a good day for all. That is, until Sabine’s husband makes a desperate call to the police saying that Sabine has been kidnapped.

What does this mean for Erica when she realises that the mystery that Sabine has left behind, along with her gold bracelet, is one that she may have been able to prevent if she had gotten there faster. Now, as perhaps the last person who saw Sabine, she has to contend with the possibility of her secrets being revealed.

Once again Georgina Cross took me hostage with a story that just consumed me from start to finish. I was only a few chapters in, when I realised I was in a standoff with myself, wanting to savour each page and wanting to see how it was going to unfold. The latter won and I flew through it in one sitting. My Kindle got quite the workout while I read this!

I was caught up in the mystery of Sabine’s disappearance and like the characters, desperate to know what had happened and if she was ok. Along the way secrets that have been buried deep, rise to the surface, giving you reason to question everyone as past events are brought to light in the form of a twist I did not see coming!

The Missing Woman is another smashing read from Georgina Cross. It is compelling, emotive, perfectly written, has strong characters, keeps you on the edge of your seat, and that ending… I had all the feelings about how this ended. I can’t tell you what they were of course as that would be a spoiler, but let me tell you I had all the feelings!

I think it’s clear that I loved this book and if I could give it more than 5 stars I would. What I will say is, The Missing Woman is a book I can’t recommend highly enough and is the first book that will be part of my best books for 2021! It was an absolute pleasure to read and review The Missing Woman and I can’t wait to see what Georgina Cross will come up with for us next.

Thank you to Georgina Cross, Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of The Missing Woman, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This is a seriously addictive book! It starts off with an explosive prologue, which leaves the reader wanting to know more. We are then transported to a beautiful summer’s day, the 4th of July, where around the community pool are the beautiful and privileged people of Huntsville, Alabama are relaxing, along with those from the other, less privileged, side of town. But the languid and leisurely pace is soon ramped up, when Sabine leaves the pool area, and doesn’t return.

Erica is our narrator, and like everyone else in the town, is upset and worried when she hears that Sabine has disappeared. She thinks she may have noticed something amiss before Sabine left the pool area.

From this moment on, the tension and pace are relentless, and I just could not stop turning the pages. I had no idea what had happened to Sabine, and had to race through the pages to see what would happen next.

When the truth is finally revealed, it’s jaw-dropping. It was not what I expected at all. This domestic thriller will completely consume you, it’s twisty and compelling. Another triumph of a book from Georgina Cross.

Amanda, Erica, and Tish are all divorced women living in a nice community in Huntsville, Alabama. These 3 women are good friends and 2 of them are bringing up their children. It’s July 4th and they are all gathered at the community pool, plus looking forward to the fireworks display later on.

Erica sees a group of wealthy women who live in McMansions in the community: Sabine, Monica, and Carol. Sabine is married to Mark who is a county commissioner and running again for office.

Erica saw Sabine leaving the pool saying she was going home to get more cool drinks for her friends. Shortly afterward, Mark shows up looking for her. When he learns she has gone home, he panics saying she may have been abducted. Coming back from the pool after the fireworks, Erica and her friends see, police surrounding Sabine’s home. They learn it has been broken into and there is blood in numerous spots. That’s when the community comes together and many people go out with flashlights searching for Sabine.

Both Erica and Sabine are keeping secrets from their past. Will this connection play out in this scenario? Yeah. I know that sounds crazy, but believe me, it’s a huge hint without giving it all away. This is a good thriller that sneaks up on you and I’m betting it will surprise you like it did me. A good one!
