I'm still 'umming' and 'ahhing' over this one, it was one of those books that was really good but then it turned really bad. It was gripping and eventful, but the next minute it was dull and I struggled to soldier on reading.

Thank you #netgalley and #inkubatorbooks for the arc of this book.

Brad and Maggie are a married couple that go away for a holiday every year, and this year they need it more than ever. One night they are out at dinner when they meet the other couple in this story, Joe and Skye. They hit it off straight away and decide to go back to Brad and Maggie's house for drinks. Later that evening Maggie realises the other's don't have a place to stay and doesn't hesitate to offer them the spare bedroom.

Skye and Joe are not what they seem. A pair of con artists who single out Brad and Maggie to try and con them. What they didn't realise is Maggie has a big secret-and it's a secret that she will do anything to keep. So they give her an ultimatum: pay up or they'll tell Brad everthing.
Unfortunately things don't go to plan and murder, mayhem and mystery ensues. Who will make it out of this holiday alive?

This was a pretty predictable thriller for me and pretty middle of the road. I guessed the ending pretty early on based on clues and I felt some parts of the book just dragged on. All the characters were unlikable and I just feel that if you can't connect with any of them, it makes for a less enjoyable story.
If you want a quick easy book to read then definitely give it a go.

I’m sorry, I could not get into this book. I read 30 pages and needed to stop. There just didn’t seem to be a well-developed plot and the writing was lacklustre.

This was an excellent book full of twists and turns and I highly recommend it! I love a good thriller and this one definitely hit it out of the ballpark! Pick it up today!!

Unfortunately, this book just did not do it for me. The writing felt extremely pedestrian. The idea was great and I enjoyed some of the character interactions but it seemed the author didn't quite know where to go with it. Half of it was super unbelievable and the other half was super boring for me. If it hadn't been so sort and I hadn't received it to review, I probably would've DNF'd it.

First of all, the characters suck. Maggie and Joe were so over-the-top and Brad and Skye were BORING. Just basically puppets for the plot even though they were alone together half the time. Literally nothing interesting ever happens when they're together. I needed one of them to have a secret or to also be hiding something juicy, otherwise what's the point of us having every single person's point of view? This may have been a 3 star if the narration was just 3rd person without everyone's point of view.

Then, the ending. Actually, I should say, "What ending?" It was like... and they lived happily ever after :) I was so mad. I would've been more satisfied if the characters in the end had been in on it together the whole time or something like that. I was missing spice in this novel, everything was so bland!

I hate leaving bad reviews, but if you like thrillers.... skip this one.

I was looking forward to reading this book but unfortunately it let me down. The characters lacked depth and I just could not get invested in them. The story plodded along and had a good twist but then ended predictably.

The premise sounded great and I was hopeful, but sadly this one was a let down for me. I didn't find myself hooked enough to finish and was lacking suspense and great characters to keep me interested and turning the pages. Unfortunately this book just wasn't for me.

This book is about manipulation, betrayal, and lying, I found myself eager to turn the page to find out how these four people would resolve the mess they got into. It’s a fast read but well worth reading. It’s told by the each member of the foursome and by the time I was half way through I had definite feelings about each character and found myself wondering how this would turn out. I recommend this to people in search of a quick read with twists and turns

I thought the premise of this book sounded very interesting, but I just could not finish it. I enjoyed the different perspectives of the story teller, but it felt as if the story was going no place and repetitive.

"Coming face-to-face with a corpse for the first time is an experience that's never forgotten. The lifelessness is something that can't be explained."

Con artists Skye and Joe meet Maggie and Brad whilst vacationing on Lake Tahoe. Quickly befriending them, they manage to get an invite to stay with the couple at their lakehouse. As they grow closer, Skye and Joe look for an angle to blackmail the other couple. They soon come up with the perfect plan... or so they think. Things soon start to go awry and we're left wondering just who is playing who.

Unfortunately, I felt there was very little character development. We are literally spoon fed enough information about the four characters to help follow the story. None of the characters are overly likeable which, for me, made it difficult to connect to the story.
The story itself was full of little surprises but in the end, it all comes together in a fairly predictable way.
This one wasn't for me, I'm afraid.

This was an original twisty thriller. I really did not see what was going to happen at the end at all. I think Cathryn Grant is a good writer and the story line really flows well. There is always something happening and you just don't know where this is going to go--Who else thinks picking up a strange couple and inviting them into your beautiful vacation home is a very BAD idea? Scams and infidelity and domestic abuse are all a part of the story of Maggie and Skye and Brad and Joe Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Other Couple was the first Cathyrn Grant book I've read, and it definitely won't be my last. The plot was really interesting, and I liked that the story was told from the perspectives of four different characters. I had a hard time putting it down and couldn't wait to find out what would happen to each character...and I didn't see the twist at the end coming at all. The Other Couple does a great job of showing why you should be careful who you trust. Thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. : )

Would you invite two total strangers to crash your long-awaited, annual getaway from home? I sure wouldn't, but Maggie does. Maggie and Brad stay in the same rental house every year. It's very spacious and the perfect location to get good use of their boat. While out to dinner on their first night out, Skye and Joe bump into them and hit it off. Maggie invites them to come stay with her and Brad, however Joe and Skye are not who they seem to be. What Maggie and Brad don't realize is they didn't just bump into the other couple, they have been watching them, waiting, planning, and executing their plan very carefully. What do they want from Maggie and Brad, how does a long-awaited vacation from home turn into a complete disaster, and who will end up dead?
I was a little hesitant to read this as the description didn't fully pull me in. I kept seeing this book pop up and finally couldn't resist. I am SO glad I decided to read it! One of my predictions came true, however there are so many other twists I would have never seen coming! I really enjoyed this story and can't read other works by Cathryn Grant!

The Other Couple is a clever little domestic thriller with a few twists and turns along the way. The chapters are written from the characters' points of view which I like, and the story moved at a gripping pace. Towards the end I had trouble putting it down as I was desperate to find out what was going to happen next. A very enjoyable read. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

"Don't do this please!" is what I kept thinking to myself as I was reading this book. Brad and Maggie are on their annual vacation to Lake Tahoe to enjoy a week of boating and fun in the sun. They meet Skye and Joe, a couple of grifters, who had their eye on them. Maggie invites them back to their place for lasagna and before the evening is over, and after Joe finds out their vacation rental was a hoax, Maggie invites them to spend the week with them. What could possibly go wrong! There are lots of twists and turns in this book and it was an enjoyable read.

So, this is mostly a fun read.

Oddly, I didn’t find it super suspenseful – probably because I didn’t care for ANY of the characters. I guess had I worried about even one of them, this would have been more successful.

However, I was very curious about how the plot would fall – and just whether or not a certain character would be successful in what seemed to be a nicely dark scheme.

Not the most memorable book to be sure, but an entertaining read.

I enjoyed The Other Couple even if at times it stretched credulity. A dream vacation on Lake Tahoe turns into a nightmare with disappearing bodies and blackmail for Maggie and Brad when they are targetted by Skye and Joe. Each of the four has secrets they do not want revealing but everything unravels for them at a fast pace.
