Wow... very interesting read for sure. I honestly couldn't put it down though because it was so intriguing. The main character was definitely an interesting one (can you tell I like that word?) lol but in all honesty go ahead and give this one a try! Might surprise you.

I snapped up Void Fate as soon as I saw review copies on NetGalley because of its Armenian authorship and setting - perfect for my WorldReads project. However, despite the synopsis stating this novel is a fantasy thriller, its creepy cover art suggested a horror story to me, so it took a while for me to pluck up the courage to actually open the book. I should have trusted words over images. Void Fate is definitely not a horror book. That said, Hakobyan manages to create and maintain a horribly unsettling atmosphere which permeates every page. I started to imagine fog clouds beginning to form in my peripheral vision as I read, and I certainly wouldn't recommend this as a book for bedtime - unless you need to stay awake feverishly reading all night.

Void Fate tells the story of a splintering group of male friends, losing their trust in each other as they fight to survive in a surreal, silent world. The five are nicely defined as characters and I could believe in their reactions and interactions. My main problem with the story is its disappointing female representation. The two women only seemed to be included to provide sexual relief for one male character. There's no attempt at diversity either. Where Void Fate succeeded for me however is in Hakobyan's presentation of Yerevan city, cleansed of practically every living thing. He doesn't dwell on lengthy descriptions, yet I could clearly envisage every aspect of this eerie setting and that made Void Fate an impactful read.

I am not sure I know what I just read. The idea of a dystopian setting with parallel world/reality was great but I don’t think it was executed well. I got into the story pretty quickly but about 40% in I was starting to lose interest. I almost wanted to DNF but being that far in I decided to finish it. Unfortunately, I could not understand what was going on and the ending left me with even more questions felling like “WTF was this”.

Thank you to Net Galley, the author and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange of my honest review.

This book is not normally a genre I would choose to read and I think this is why I struggled in parts with the book. Having said that I enjoyed the writing style of the author. For anyone who enjoys sci-fi/dystopia novels thus would be a good read. I have given 2 stars mainly because its not my preferred reading choice

This book is a bit different to what I would usually read, but I really enjoyed it. The book grips your attention from the start and has you hooked into the story completely. This book is thriller/mystery that will keep you guessing. I would definitely recommend this book to other readers.

I'm not going to pretend that I haven't been avoiding starting this since November. The cover scared me off, and it being described as a horror didn't help much. I finally forced myself to start this though, and im super happy I did!

Id like to start this off by saying this is not a horror. Its not really a fantasy either. To me, it felt more like a sci-fi or a dystopian. I'm not a horror reader, so I was super happy about that, but don't go into this expecting a scary book. It was creepy, but not like a horror movie.

This book is put together in a super artistic way. It's not necessarily fast paced, and not a lot happens over the course of it, but somehow it doesn't become boring. It drew me in as soon as I started, and I never felt like putting it down. The world it was set in felt intricate and thought out, and although I had constant questions, they didn't irritate me.

The one complaint I had about this was my confusion regarding certain aspects of it. Do the ghost/fog things hunt by sound? If so, why did our character make so much of it?? The entire time, they were shouting, and it drove me crazy! And, its repeated multiple times that you can't outrun these fog thingies, but our character do...? Multiple times? These are minor concerns, but I did struggle with them.

Although I didn't want to start this, I really enjoyed it when I did! I constantly wanted to know what was going on, and I couldn't wait to get my questions answered!

Thanks to Suren G. Hakobyan and Netgalley for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review!

Ugh, I could not get into this book at all. I am a fan of certain kinds of horror, but this one just didn’t do it for me. I did not finish it. The writing style was good, however, leading me to think I would read another book by this author.

I wouldn’t personally recommend it, but maybe there are some horror fans out there that this would particularly appeal to.

I got an ARC of this book.

I have been trying for the last few weeks to read this book. It has not gone well. This is only partially the book, but mostly my reading slump. I ended up DNF this one. So, it really could have gotten better after I gave up. I hope it did. It sounded really cool. I loved the premise. I just sat through badly dubbed show with the same idea of everyone disappears out of nowhere and a group of friends need to survive. So this is a premise that is perfect for me, it just wasn't executed well and didn't come into my life at the right time.

The book is really odd. There are things like "And he didn't know this would be the last time any cell phone would ever work!" sort of lines at the ends of chapters. It explained too much and tried to build suspense in a way that does not work in a novel format. Instead it just felt like lazy writing and made me cringe (it made me think of my own writing attempts).

There were so many characters introduced at once that I couldn't tell them apart. The chapters switched POVs around the characters, but they sounded exactly alike so there was no way I could learn them. This is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to multiple characters. If you can't make the characters distinct enough that I don't have to read the chapter label, then it isn't well done. So many authors can't pull it off, but do it in every single book they write (looking at a certain YA author that is wildly famous).

So the idea was wonderful, but this version of the idea just wasn't for me this time.

While I found the premise of this book really interesting and was excited to read it, I found that the writing was just too simplistic for me, to the point where it was distracting.

I very big thank you to the author Suren G. Hakobyan for her invite to read and review her book as well as to Netgalley. It was such a surprise when I saw the email from Suren - so thank you again so much for sending that to me. I love horror but I had a hard time getting into the book, I think the plot was good I just need more of a punch to get started and throughout the book. I would recommend it but it just wasn't for me. Thank you to NetGalley and Suren.

2 stars

This book has a lot of potential.

I really enjoyed the suspense of this book, I didn't know what to expect and where the story was going to end up. I continued reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen. The suspense held my interest. As a result, I am giving this book 2 stars.

On the other hand, I will admit, there were times I got confused. There were a lot of characters, each having their own POV. As there were a lot of twist and turns, I did find it hard to keep up with their situations and where they were.
Secondly, the pace of the book wasn't constant. There were parts that flowed perfectly and then there were other situations that I found repetitive and I wanted to move the story along.

This book, in my opinion, could easily have been halved. There were a few dialogues and thoughts, that didn't really have an effect on the storyline. With proper editing, this book could easily get a higher rating.

Thank you to the author for providing me with this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Five friends meet up for a game of cards one evening. When they wake up, they're greeted by empty cars, houses, busses - and mysterious misty ghosts who hunt whatever human life has remained on earth...
Looking for further surviours, the friends not only start questioning humanity's dissapearance, but also how far their loyalty for each other truly goes...

I was sent an email by the author, asking me if I'd be interested in their book. Loving a good horror story, I was intruiged and now, after way too much time, I have finally been able to give this book a review.
It was a great read and I can't thank the author enough for giving me a chance to read this book.
The cover is mysterious and intruiging, the blurb caught my interest (I am a huge fan of dystopian books, especially the ones where humanity is gone), so I gave it a try.
So, why am I not giving a book I greatly enjoyed and would definetly recommend just four instead of five stars? Well, this has a very simple reason: The POV kept shifting every chapter. Normally, I enjoy books like these because it gives you more insight of the characters, but for this one, I think one or two, maximum three character's perspective might have been enough, especially since some of these characters only had one chapter told from their perspective. It was irritating and interrupred the story instead of providing it with its neccesary flow.
The story was well written and kept me well entertained and interested in the book. At first, I was a bit confused because I spent the first few chapters in the severe belief that the characters were teenagers, but once I realised my mistake, this book didn't lose any of its fascination.

I received a free ARC by Netgalley and the author in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you for the ARC.
What an interesting and unusual story!! It was a cross between a thriller/mystery and had a hunger games feel to it. It keeps you guessing the entire time. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

The strength of friendship tested to the breaking point while battling the "wicked" in this spectacularly written novel. Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. It was utterly addictive and I needed to find out what happened to those 5 friends who were all together when the unthinkable occurred. The premise of this book was so well thought out that I was smiling as I was reading it thinking to myself "this is awesomely terrifying". Fast paced and action packed, Suren's novel will not disappoint! A definite MUST-READ for horror, sci-fi, and thriller book lovers everywhere. I am for sure suggesting this for our book club book next month! 🤗👍🏼

My thoughts

Rating: 4

Would I recommend it ? Yes , in fact I told a friend about it and she went a head and added it to her Netgalley TBR to read .

Would I read more by this author? Yes

First off I want to say huge thank you to the author Suren G. Hakobyan for her invite to read and review her book as well as to Netgalley. I was so surprised when I saw the email from the author asking me if I would be interested in reading and review his book that as soon as I read the description of it , I knew it was something that I want to read . And I'm so glad I said yes, because after just reading the first page of the prologue that I knew right then and there that there was no way I could put off reading it, because of a few things, and they are as listed :

1: the genre is one of my all time ones to read which is horror

2: the main reason is this if the book Under the Dome by Stephen King ( who happens to be one of my all time favorite authors ) and the movie The Fog ( the original one from 1980 - and yes its a all time favorite horror movie of mine ) was to have a child then this would be it , 100% .

Because it has every thing in that comes to mind when you think of those to things , the creepiness, and the feeling of been watch from the shadows when there's no one there.

This book seemed to be something I would really be into but much too often I found myself getting bored. This book just wasn't my cup of tea.

The writing was pretty good and there was an interesting story there so I can see why others will enjoy it ; but I personally just felt like it dragged which could be the result of having no connection to the characters or the story itself whatsoever. Basically I just didn't care and that unfortunately really affected my opinion.

overall not a bad book per se just wasn't a book for me.

A special thankyou to the author and netgalley for allowing me to review this very unique and exciting thriller/scifi/horror Mashup if you will. It was very character driven which I love, as well as told in multiple perspectives. It was at times hard to wrap my mind around but by the end it was a very solid and satisfying ending. Solid 4 star read!
