Thank you to NetGalley & Zaffre for my copy of this book to review.

This is the second book by this author that I have read. It grabbed my attention just from the blurb, why would someone hand their baby over to a stranger on a train? As with The Catch, I found this book gripping and fast-paced with an original storyline...I haven’t read anything similar to this before. And I thought I had it sussed quite early on...I was definitely wrong. I did find a few elements a bit far-fetched at times but I think that just added to the excitement.

I would recommend this book to others, and would happily read more of TM Logan in the future.

In the author's signature style, this one started out at a cracking pace and had me immersed immediately
Ellen is on a train when a stranger asks her to hold her daughter for a moment while she takes a phone call. But after a few minutes, Ellen can't seem to see the mother nearby and alarm bells begin to ring. As the train pulls away from the next platform, Ellen sees the stranger, walking on the platform outside, leaving her baby with Ellen. Intent on finding her, Ellen looks through the baby bag and locates a note: Please protect Mia, Don't trust the police, Don't trust anyone. And that was just the beginning!

I loved this one. I can find nothing better than a fast paced mystery written by an author you really enjoy. While there was one element that had been done recently in another book I'd read, so that probably detracted from the enjoyment just a tiny bit, overall I still loved it and it was another one I flew through in a day. Brilliant!

From the moment the story starts you are captavated and drawn straight in.

Such an intriguing premise that you have so many questions.

The premise; imagine you are traveling home and someone literally hands their baby to you and then walks off. What do you? Why would they do that? You then discover a note that states to not trust anyone. Do you? What do you do?

And so begins a complex and intense rollercoaster into trust, care and shocking secrets.

The character are well developed and Logan generates a realism edge where you want to know more about them as well as feel their emotions.

It's gripping. It's edgy. Every chapter makes you want to divulge into more - there quick, sharp and leave more questions.

The ending is shocking - one you won't see coming. So clever and gripping, I can't wait for the next one.

Ellen is on a train journey when she ends up helping a young woman with a baby, even though it breaks her heart as she can't have her own. She holds the baby while the woman makes an urgent call, but begins to wonder why the woman isn't coming back... then she is astonished to see the woman step off the train onto a platform. About to raise the alarm, Ellen then finds a scribbled note in the baby's bag instructing her to protect the baby and not trust the police, or anyone. Things get more dramatic and Ellen soon realises that the baby might hold the key to a horrific crime. Can Ellen protect the baby's life? And her own? Who can she trust?

I absolutely loved this book, the plot was exciting and tense, the characters interesting, and the twists and turns brilliant. I couldn't stop reading until I reached the shocking conclusion - the ending was fantastic. I thoroughly recommend this book.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.
