Hannah is a well-off wife and mother of two children and seemingly doesn't have any problems in her life other than getting her lifelong dream on it's feet which is a high-end holiday rental cottage. She has only rented it out once and now she is fully prepared for her next guests. This is an expensive rental so she is a little caught off guard when the family arrive in an old beat-up car and their appearance leaves a lot to be desired but she knows she shouldn't be judgemental and if they have the money to pay for all this luxury then there shouldn't be any problems. The cottage is rented for a week and then a new party will arrive and Hannah just wants to get good. reviews so this will become a flourishing business especially since her husband considers this a hobby for her and not a real money maker so she wants to prove her business sense to her husband as well as herself. The first day starts a little rocky but when problems keep occurring day after day and the family is turning the cottage into a pigsty, Hannah just wants them gone. Suddenly, an unexpected accident occurs that they are placing the blame on Hannah and they will have to extend their stay and Hannah is just beside herself with anger and anxiety but also trapped by this manipulative couple that are beginning to suffocate the life out of her and the relationship between her husband and herself is getting very strained yet Hannah keeps hoping things will quickly be over and maybe they will but not in the way Hannah ever expected as her life turns into a downward spiral and she wonders if she will ever be free again.

This was a fast and enjoyable read with some really terrific twists and suspenseful moments. The first half of the book was a crazy nightmare and I just couldn't read fast enough. The second half brought in many other other unexpected aspects to the storyline which made for a a clever well-plotted story. I highly recommend this book to any mystery or suspense reader who enjoys a really good psychological mystery.

I want to thank the publisher "Incubator Books" and Net galley for the opportunity to read this book and any thoughts and opinions expressed are unbiased and mine alone!

This was a fast paced read where I could fully empathize with the frustration and fear that the protagonist was experiencing. The story centers on Hannah, who turns her barn into a holiday rental and ends up with the tenants from hell only the 2nd time she rents it out.

This is one of those books where there was always a feeling that something bad was just getting ready to happen, which kept the pacing high. The visitors, Nadia and Mike, were so out of line through a lot of the book that it set my teeth on edge. Poor Hannah had an unsupportive husband and no real idea of how to handle the issues that arose from these guests. While Hannah was a little naive, I could empathize with her for the most part.

The end of the book felt a little rushed and was pretty unrealistic in my opinion, but I still found it mostly satisfying.

Overall, I enjoyed this read and felt it was engaging and action-pack with a few surprises thrown in along the way. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

THE VISITORS is a standalone psychological thriller by from the best-selling author, Miranda Rijks, author of Roses are Red and The Arrangement.

Hannah has it all being married to a successful cardiologist Daniel, and mother to two young children: eight-year-old Rosa and six-year-old Joel. As Daniel, recently promoted consultant cardiothoracic surgeon, travels frequently to London or Manchester a few nights a week and away from home, Hannah decided to take on a project of her own, so she occupied her spare time with a renovation project, converting their stone barn into a beautiful holiday rental. She had to juggle her duties as a mother, wife and job as a piano teacher. It took seven years to complete the renovation of the barn, with the intention of turning it into a successful business.

Things turn bad when the new visitors Mike and Nadia come to stay for just a week with lots of baggage. They are noisy, dirty and disrespectful. Hannah is worried they may wreck her restored barn.

Hannah tries to accommodate her visitors…but nothing pleases them! She soon realizes that Nadia and Mike aren’t here just for a holiday - they have a deeper, darker purpose, one that threatens to destroy Hannah’s entire life.

A shocking secret from her past coming back to haunt her…

But now, Hannah has to find the courage to fight back.

My heart went out to Hannah and all her struggles and drama. While having to deal with a husband who was rarely around, who put her down all the time, and having to deal with these ungrateful threatening visitors, life was not easy.

The Visitors was a really enjoyable and addictive read. I was gripped from beginning to end.

Many thanks to the author, Inkubator books and Netgalley for my digital copy.

This is one of those thrillers that provided the much needed necessities us they’ll lovers seek, but something just didn’t do it for me to give a full 5 stars! It provides lots of fun thrills, chills, and shocks, and is definitely well written! I would surely recommend, especially if you’re looking for one that’s quite fast paced and easy to get through!

Very fast paced well plotted psychological thriller. The twists that occurred were mostly not what I expected. I enjoyed this story about a woman trying to regain her confidence and financial independence from her husband by renting out a cottage on her property. I thought the descriptions of each character was very thorough and I found myself hating the actions of the holiday guests! I was very invested in this book and read it in about 1 day. Great read for fans of domestic thrillers!

A great boon of unexpected twist and fast turns. This one kept me guessing. I swift read and a great escape from all that is going on in the world. I disliked some of the characters but felt like that maybe was the authors plan. Would hesitate to pick up more works by this writer.

What a wonderful psychological drama/thriller. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book. I look forward to reading more by Miracnd Rijks. Thankful to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this title.

I love the concise writing style of this author. It’s easy to get pulled in quickly and stay engaged. It’s also a testament to her writing that I had to put the book down at times because I was so uncomfortable with the characters and their actions. They were so awful, all of them. Though Hannah isn’t cruel, just clueless and makes awful decisions.

There are a few fun twists in this story. I was definitely tense throughout pretty much the entire story. I could feel Hannah’s desperation. Daniel made me cringe. And worse, Hannah’s unfaltering adoration of him up to basically the bitter end was beyond frustrating! The ending worked well (though the Kayleigh thing was a bit silly).

Overall entertaining, I would recommend it. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Inkubator Books for a copy in exchange for a review.

Psychological thrillers really don't get any better than this. Here is Miranda Rijks at her very best with a dark and compelling story that is tense and nerve-racking.
From the very beginning the plot is unsettling and as Hannah's holiday home guests become ever more scaringly insidious the tension is chilling and hypnotic.
Scalpel-sharp writing makes this breathtakingly good.

This was the first book by Miranda Rijks that I’ve read and it will not be the last. The story was creepy, twisty and hard to put down. If you like fast paced thriller that keeps you on your toes and have you guessing until the last page, then you should add this to your TBR list.

We all have a favorite author where you are guaranteed a great story and for me this author is one of mine. I have loved all of her other books!!

A creepy, unsettling psychological thriller that will keep you gripped to the pages. Rijks writes in a way that makes you feel on-edge, knowing that something isn't quite right, but you aren't sure what, until the pacing ramps up and you're racing to reach the final conclusion.

Hannah seems to have a perfect life, she is married to a wealthy heart surgeon, has two beautiful children and they live on a beautiful farm with a stone barn that she renovated as a holiday retreat. In reality, Hannah is lonely with her husband working in London for the majority of the week, in a village that will always consider her as an outsider and missing the joy that being a teacher brought her. She renovated the barn in hopes that having visitors would help her feel less isolated. One of her first guests are a couple named Mike and Nadia with their young daughter Kayleigh. From the beginning they are loud, disrespectful and intrusive and Hannah cannot wait for their stay to be over. Mike and Nadia are more than she could have planned for and she will have to learn to take a stand and fight back.
This was my first book by this author but won’t be the last. While I think we have all read some form of the “ tenants from hell” type of story, this was well written and fast paced.
Thank you to #netgalley and Inkubator Books for my free ebook in exchange for my honest opinion.

Wow, what a ride. I couldn’t put it down. When dealing with rental property you never know when you’ll get the renters from hell, and that’s what Hannah got. Great amount of characters and interaction. An ending worth the wait. I will definitely be reading more from this author. Thanks to NetGalley for the privilege to read and review this book.

I have to say I really enjoyed this book! Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me an early arc in exchange for my honest review. The book was well written and the characters were all believable. My only complaint would be that so much happened in the last ten percent of the book.
