WOW!! What an addictive and gripping thriller! A domestic tale which I love in a book.

I started this book on saturday evening and finished it last night (Monday) I could not put it down!... I was engrossed from the very first chapter and really enjoyed all of the quirky characters, I also really enjoyed the first person narrative the story being told by the main character Hannah.

Hannah lives with her highly respected surgeon husband Daniel and her two children, They live in a beautiful modern house in the country with spectacular views, They seem to have a perfect life with plenty of money and Hannah is also a music teacher, teaching children from home.
Hannah recently renovated the barn which is adjacent to her beautiful home, and decided to use this barn as a holiday rental, She is really excited about her new project and is looking forward to meeting her new guests, However they sadly turn out to be the guests from hell with no intentions to leave her beautiful newly refurbished barn, Tensions are very high between Hannah, her husband Daniel and these guests from hell... Will Hannah ever get them to leave?

I did not expect the story to take the turn that it did, I was pleasantly surprised at the twists towards the end of the book, normally half way through a thriller I start to have an idea of what I feel the ending will be, but this one blindsided me and left me feeling shocked at the ending I did not foresee the ending.

This was a very enjoyable, addictive and gripping read and was my first novel by this wonderful author, I'm looking forward to reading more!

A big thank you to netgalley for a copy of this fantastic book in exchange for my honest review..

This one was a page turner from start to finish! The storyline and characters are more than plausible leaving the reading feeling very uneasy at the turn of events. I found the author's use of every circumstance to weave a narrative the keeps the reader guessing as to what might happen next! This can be deemed one of the best reads going this year! Anyone who has a guesthouse or b &b might find this quite eye opening to some risk factors not even contemplated previously!

When Nadia and Mike prove more than what was expected, the perfect getaway turns into thr perfect nightmare. How can you escape danger when it's looking you dead in the face. This was my first read by this author & I honestly can not wait for more! I may be hooked!

Tense filled thriller, will leave you with nightmares about Airbnb! Perhaps with a slightly unbelievable ending, but overall a thrilling read!

I liked the premise, it is what prompted me to request this book. I like thrillers, but not horror or a lot of blood and guts and this was definitely not either. It is a storyline that I've seen used several times in varying fashion, but this author put her own spin on things.

A wife that seems to have everything, great husband, kids and life and she wants something of her own. Bored housewife, I presume. However, you better be careful what you wish for, you just might get it and it will be nothing like you thought it would be.

She refurbished an old barn, she just should have stopped there and not tried to rent it out. When she did she got the tenants from hell and life would not be the same again. Some of the characters did some really stupid things, but those things kept the storyline moving forward. There were a few surprises, a few things that I guessed early on, but overall it was a good mystery.

Great book. Kept me guessing and turning pages late up into the night. I'm picky about my thrillers and this one was definitely one of recommend. Will read more by this author most definitely.

This was an enjoyable fast paced read. I felt for Hannah as her life begins to fall apart, beginning with the new family staying at her holiday let renovation barn. I marked it down a star as the ending was somewhat unbelievable, but still entertaining.

This book had me gripped in the prologue! But as the story developed and as much as I enjoyed reading it, I was also quite frustrated at some of the sequences of events, which were so obvious that it made some parts of the story to unbelievable.

However, I must say that I loved the easy flowing way Miranda Rijks wrote this book and it was an enjoyable read overall,. Personally for me as much as it was an entertaining book to read, I wouldn't class "The Visitors" as a gripping psychological thriller. More of a tense entertaining read.

I was grinning when I finished this book. I guess I really liked it. The prologue got me very
intrigued and this one never disappoints.

I used to work in the hospitality industry so I somewhat know the struggles Hannah had
experienced. Hannah Pieters—the protagonist- thought that a project is what`s missing in her
life. But as soon as she had their second visitors everything went south. From getting worried
sick from her daughter to having accidents at her barn. Experiencing it first hand, Hannah did
not know how to handle things properly. The visitors saw it and had taken advantage of it. I was
sure that I had figured the flow of the story and how things would end up. But kid me not for I am
wrong. I glad I was wrong. I love the ending and did not expect it at all. It was a brilliant twist and
I could not ask for more.

Who is my favorite character, you ask? It is no other than Hannah. She was a lovely mother and
what I adore most is the decisions she had made. Not all mothers or not all women can do what
she had done. I can not even fathom the pain she had felt. What a great character and a great
mother she is.

This book had me crave for more chapters after chapters but its ending had satisfied me
enough to say that it has the proper ending I had never known I want. I never had expected to
have a twist at the ending of the story for a twist requires more explanation but the twist, in the
end, did not require more. It was sufficient and a great way to end the story. An exceptional
novel written by Miranda Rijks.

I am facing the facts: Miranda Rijks and me are not going to become your classic fairy tale love story. I am very sorry but I just can't do with her writing. The way she portrays characters, the (for me at least) so obvious approach on the murder and the culprit? URGH, NO!
I am very sorry for what is going through, I sincerely am. But her writing and I are not going to see eye to eye. Hopefully, her future books end up making her and a lot of other people very happy, but for me, her writing just seems too... soft?

I received a free ARC by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

The Visitors was one of my favourite books.
Hannah is a stay at home mum, she has 2 children and sometimes teaches piano privately from her house. Her husband Daniel is a cardiothoaratic surgeon, who stays away 3 nights a week. From outside their life is idyllic. They live quite remotely, the nearest neighbour about 5 miles away. Next to their house is a barn which Hannah converted into a holiday home, Daniel wasn't very keen on the idea, but gave in. The second lot of holiday guest arrive, Nadia, Mike and their daughter Keyliegh. Hannah's life is about to change.
Really good book for those who like psychological thrillers.

4.5 stars rounded up.

I was completely hooked on this story. From start to finish I was dying to know how Hannah Pieters was going to get her temporary guests to get the hell out of her holiday rental. Every fiber of my being was screaming call the cops but she couldn't very well evict them. After all, they aren't tenants. They weren't trespassing. In fact, they were invited to stay longer. As frustrating as it was, I could understand and sympathize with just about everything Hannah did. She was a great character and highly believable in that situation.

Now the things that irked me. Without giving too much away, there was a deception at the start that irritated me later. Yes, it added to the drama but I still felt it to be unnecessary. It was on my mind throughout the book and I was disappointed it came to nothing. Also, the ending. It was the only part I thought was unrealistic. These were minor problems in an otherwise flawless book.

The Visitors by Miranda Rijks is an outstanding thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it definitely will not be my last. Hannah has started renting our her holiday cottage and is on her 2nd group of customers. Hannah is intent on making this new adventure work for her but her Dr husband is not thrilled she is doing it and isn’t even slightly supportive. All hell breaks loose and Hannah must fight to save her family from these ruthless visitors.

I was excited for the premise of this book. A holiday guest house is rented by a family with nothing good on their minds. Once they move in, it seems that they never want to leave!
The writing was good, but I didn’t find any of the characters either likeable or understandable. The main character Hannah, makes terrible decisions one after the other, and besides her children is surrounded with unequivocally awful people!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me read and review this digital ARC.

I don’t even know where to begin with this book. Hannah is married to a cardio thoracic surgeon Daniel. She has a good life with her 2 children and turns her barn into a little bed and breakfast. Her first set of guests were gems, so when the second set of guests arrive they are much anticipated. Nadia and Mike along with their daughter are the guests from hell and she can’t get rid of them. When Mike ends up being murdered on their property, Daniel is arrested for his murder. Secrets come out, blackmail, extortion. This book has it all.

At times I wanted to put this book down and practically kill these guests myself and I did NOT like that feeling and I almost stopped reading. But I’m glad I didn’t. This book took me on a wild ride. This would make an amazing movie!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my copy!

Wow, this book was crazy! The plot was extremely well-written and had great characters. It was hard to put down and kept me guessing the entire time. Lots of truths and hidden secrets were exposed which only added to the intense suspense in this book. It was very realistic and somewhat twisted and fast-paced. The characters with their secrets and everything added to this story. This is the first book by Rijks but it won't be my last! I would recommend this to anyone looking for an unpredictable and thrilling read!

El libro me ha encantado. Los giros en la trama son brutales y muchas veces me ha dejado con la boca abierta.
