I received this book from NetGalley as an eARC in exchange for a review. This book follow Freya and Aiden as they try to repair their failing marriage. Unfortunately I DNF'd this at 25 % because it gave me severe anxiety dealing with the relationship stresses. To be fair, the book has a trigger warning at the starting but I didn't realize how triggering the story actually would be. It was well written and very believable, I just couldn't handle it. |
Chloe Liese did it again! This one was definitely not my favorite in the series, but it was still really good! Freya and Aiden are having marital problems and it literally takes the whole family to test the waters and see if they can make it back to each other in one piece. Aiden has high anxiety, which really came out of the pages well, and really made me think about my own anxiety and how to work through it. |
Received an Advanced Reader’s Copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! (‘Cos you know, *shrugs and gives a nonchalant look* I’m on her ARC-team.) *FREAKS OUT ‘COS SHE’S ON ONE OF HER FAVOURITE AUTHOR’S ARC-TEAM* Every After Always is a book I’ve been postponing reviewing simply because it was such an emotional read and I’m not sure if I can express well enough in words what it meant to me. When Chloe Liese spoke about her next release I was truly surprised it was Freya and Aiden. I mean… they’d always had a happy love-filled marriage.. so why? I mean, I see Axel and I see a possibility there and that’s what I thought was coming next so… what’s happening? Then I remembered that small moment of foreshadowing in the previous book…But it was only when I read the synopsis, that I knew this book was going to break me. I was so right. The level of rightness was so high, I think I may be Nostredame reborn. This book was about anxiety, marriage, what love means… It was about something falling apart because it was trying to be fixed the wrong way.. it was.. God it was so relatable. Aiden was a character that felt so real. Chloe has brought her hero to life so well, simply because she focused on the absolute little things that anxiety can create in someone’s personality. For example, being jumpy. I never used to startle until before I got anxiety. Now.. now I can startle sometimes like this *snaps a finger*. The adrenaline rush, that urge to just find out what it is that’s bothering us just so we can maybe fix it, that never ending focus to keep yourself stable every moment of every day and that undeniable exhaustion from the effort of it all. Aiden was just… this whole BOOK was just so well done for me. I weeped through most of it. It was so close to home for me and perhaps for some people it may seem strange that Aiden startles so much, or that he’s always got a rush of adrenaline and fear spearing through him or how it can affect something linked to it. But it was all real. It exists. I’ve felt it, dealt with it and it’s no tale. It’s as real as these words. Now Freya too, was incredibly relatable. She was that emotionally intelligent person that can sometimes metaphorically asphyxiate themselves to take care of another. I mean, who hasn’t done this for someone they love? She’s also the kind of person who’s so used to taking care of others, she’s forgotten how to ask for help. (Enter a very meddlesome family hahahahahah). This book addressed several billion things that I was shook with the range of issues that Chloe managed to introduce without seeming to handle too many things or without it feeling like it wasn’t handled well or was removing the reader from the main plot. It was a reflection of reality. How we all face more than one struggle at a time. She spoke about the idea of body positivity in a way that was so refreshing, relatable and perhaps something people need to start being watchful of as well. She spoke about disability, marital issues, NORMALIZING MEN READING ROMANCE HELLOANDTHANKYOU, the mental and emotional experiences preluding the choice of wanting to have a child. God, I’ve probably missed many many more, but Chloe hasn’t. She’s got them all there and she’s got them there well. Loved it loved it loved it. Five HUNDRED stars. God I can’t wait for Axel. Chloe, you finished with Ax? ❤ |
Ooooo the Bergman family strikes again. This is yet another great story that bites to the heart. The story about pain, loss, love, and gain. The story about finding love again. The story is a real insight into marriage life and what happens if we don't invest in it. It is so different from a typical love story but that makes it even better. We got very likable and strong characters. Both Fraya and Aiden are easy to love and to keep cheering for them to make it. I loved how it all turns off for them even if they had a rocky path but as we know without rain there wouldn't be a rainbow. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley |
I absolutely adored this book so much , a romance about a married couple, it’s so well done, not the initial first spurts of love , but the harder work of reality and marriage. I was so impressed with the authors portrayal of anxiety, suffering from it myself it’s good to see it represented accurately and dealt with sensitively. This story shows the true power of love, communication, forgiveness and hope. Fantastic Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion |
Chloe Liese is romance's answer to the future of the genre. Her character development and writing of family is fantastic and real. Readers have a new author to follow. I will read everything she writes! |
This is my first book by this author and it won't be the last! I know some people have different ideas about what a "real romance novel" should be. However, getting stuck in these ruts is how we miss gems like this book. This book is real, gritty and sometimes you might need to take a deep breath or two, but it's worth it to stick around. Romance books about married couples are hard to pull off because a lot of readers want to focus on that first hit of love and lust chemicals. But is there anything more romantic than fighting for the one you love? To not give up when life gets in the way? The hero's struggle with anxiety was portrayed in a realistic, sensitive way and the couple's interactions were raw and honest. This story is told from the perspective of a tight-knit family (and how these marriage issues affect all the members of the family... We don't live in a bubble after all). The beauty and strength of this book is that it will remind you of the true power of understanding, forgiveness, and true love. |
Ever After Always by Chloe Liese This is the third in the Bergman series featuring older sister Freya, her husband Aidan and their marriage in crisis. This one was a highly emotional read with strong characters ARCs for both, particularly Aiden. It did an excellent job highlighting the highs and lows of long term marriage while also touching on anxiety disorder. Despite the tough subject matter, the humour remained throughout. It was also touching to get glimpses of the other family members! If you’re looking for an emotional second chance romance, I highly recommend this one! Thank you to Chloe and Netgalley for this ARC 💓 |
I loved this book! It was heartwarming and strong. It was exactly what I needed with everything going on in the world! A happy little escape! |
I adore married romance and this one was a perfect example of why. There was so much tension at times that I was almost scared to start reading again, but I knew it would end up happily because...............ROMANCE. I want more, more, more of the Bergman family! |
I love the Bergman family! It was so great to see how my favorite couples again (I can't choose who I like better as a couple!) This book had some tough trigger warnings for me (you're warned about these before you start the book). I think they were handled really well! The novel handles the trope (if you can call it that bc their are so few books with this subject matter) of marriage-in-crisis. I found the actual crisis time period of the book to be really stressful. I know it will end in a HEA, but I was really stressed! It took me a while to get through the first half of the book because of this. I honestly think it has more to do with me and the time period of the world, more than the book. I also got to learn more about the Bergman family in this novel. It all just made me more excited for all of the siblings books! Also, should we all ask the author for a book featuring the love story of the Bergman parents?? Overall this one ranked between a 3.75-4 ⭐! Steam level 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Thank you to Chloe Liese for the advanced copy of this book! |
I received an arc via Netgalley. All opinions expressed are my own. This is the 3rd book in the Bergman Brothers series. I have not read the first 2 books, but I could definitely read this book as a stand - alone. The book features Aiden and Freya, a couple just about to celebrate their 10 year anniversary... if they make it that far. With their relationship in the skids, Aiden & Freya spend the week in Hawaii together with Freya's family. Not wanting to spoil their parent's special week, they agree to be cordial to each other. Most of the time when characters can't/don't communicate with their partners, it is very frustrating as a reader. This was done is such a way that it made sense why they didn't want to communicate, and how time is needed to heal even after communication starts. I look forward to reading the first books in this series, and the upcoming Bergman Brother's books when they are released. |
I gotta tell you guys that I forgot to review this one but I didnt forget how much I loved it. Marriage is hard yo, and sometimes you go through awful and sometimes you go through bliss and these 2 just made me heart pit pat pit pat. Loved book 1, book 2 was meh but book 3 I loved. Mare~Slitsread |
I’m now caught up on the Bergman Brothers series and my decision is definitely made, I want to live with the family! Anyone else? This one is the third in the series and is the first one to be from one of the sisters and most of it takes place in Hawaii. I’ve read a few reviews people saying they didn’t like this one as much as it was a marriage in crisis story. But I think it was more emotional as it was a second chance romance even though they’ve been married for 10 years. I loved the parts where Aidan & Freya were finding new parts about themselves and each other but still knowing each other, which sounds weird but makes sense. I also like how Chloe writes the characters with disabilities and not perfectly created characters some authors write about! I can’t wait to read Axel & Rooney’s book next, as I loved Rooney’s character in the first book. |
As much as I love Chloe Liese's books, this one just wasn't for me. This is an unconventional romance, a re-romance if you will, and it just felt like I was wading through so many relationship issues and emotions that it stifled the enjoyment of the read. A much more realistic romance than I am used to but I think a lot of readers will connect to it though I missed the humour and shenanigans from Liese's other books. Depictions of anxiety were very well represented. |
This book is so good! I didn't read the other books and the series and I didn't feel any loss because of it! This reminds me of Tessa Bailey's fix her up series. This is exactly what I needed |
This is my favorite of three. It has a married couple as its focus, which is totally different from the first two books, which have MCs trying to find love (or avoid it completely) as singles. This book opens with a marriage in trouble, and its alternating perspectives on what is going on within their marriage will have you wanting to scream at them to open up their communication lines and tell one another how they’re feeling! The husband has an anxiety disorder, and once again – the author handles this so well. This was gut wrenching, but also hopeful and sweet. I absolutely adored it. Chloe Liese, I am sorry I’m late to the party, but I’m here to stay! |
Ever After Always tells the story of Aidan and Freya, who have hit rocky waters after ten years of marriage. I felt like their marital problems were very realistic but the resolution was very fast, something I find with all marriage on the rocks romance. This book is third in a series, and it did take me a while to get to know Freya's large and colorful family. Sometimes they were fun, and sometimes I felt they detracted from the story. I think the author crammed a lot into the book, but I still was cheering them on to the end. |
There aren’t many smartly written romance novels about married people. So let’s all give it up for Chloe Liese for bringing this gem to the table. I want to be a part of the wild and crazy and loving Bergman family. Aiden and Freya’s story was full of real life issues that normal people face and you just don’t see that very much in the romance genre. Highly recommend if you are looking for a spicy, messy, real world romance. |
I will always want to read Chloe Liese's next book! I couldn't put the first two in the series down, and although I enjoyed "Ever After Always" I wasn't as pulled in here. Maybe that's because Aiden annoyed me so much in the first book (he's something of a Chaotic Good character, always in other people's business. It is very realistic and very hard to root for). Still, Liese knows how to create layered relationships full of warmth, tenderness, and steaminess. |
