Wow! This book was so out of my comfort range. I've downloaded a bunch of free, (mostly) random, pre-releases of books with the idea of expanding my range and helping authors get reviews. And yup, this was one of them.
Disclaimer aside, here are my thoughts. I liked that it was four medium length stories loosely tied together but each very different. As a man, I appreciated that each story features a strong women with interesting moral choices to be made and there are some unexpected twists along the way.. Am I going to run out and read a bunch more of this type of book? Nope, but if this is your thing or you are curious, I'd say this is an excellent choice.

This book was too uncomfortable to go through. Not what I was expecting. About four women who are also friends.
First Chapter- Nympho suburban wife
Second Chapter- Fat, lactating murdering psycho
Third Chapter- BDSM
Fourth Chapter- Superficial woman taught to want sex with ugly people? Didn't finish.

This wasn't what I expected. As with most short stories, it's hit or miss. Reading erotica written by a Black woman was promising. The first story was over the top. Even for erotica. It needed to be just a little more subtle. Because at a point it became repetitive. The second was just plain weird. But if thats your kink, nothing wrong with weird. The third and fourth stories were the best. The last one being actually pretty good.
This is a mixed bag. I would read the authors work again, There's a lot of promise there. But, it missed the mark for me.

CW: Rape, Humiliation, Assault

I've read a lot of erotica in my day. SO trust me when I say I am not a person that blushes easily. What I will say is that I was truly unprepared for the content of Hungry by Irmengarde Lubido. I requested the book because I was initially intrigued by the premise and the title. I thought this would be some women, empowering type erotica but all this was, to me, was strong, confident women who were humiliated in some form of way, wnating to get their revenge.

ALl of the stories had this fable-fairytale like quality. (Jane was a snow white, Delilah was like Beauty.Kara was like the witch from Hansel and Gretle)

The first story upset me so badly, regarding Jane, her stepfather groomed and molested because it wasn't just some sexual relationship. She was his child, to be cared for and he abused that power. And yes, 18 is still a child. She needed more than therapy. She needed some deep, psychological work. And I was perfectly fine with all the other things she wanted to do.

I just draw a hard line at any mention of defecation or fecal matter, blood, or sex. It made me queasy.

Not sure I can recommend this to those who enjoy "tamer" erotica

Book Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hungry Erotic Stories for Angry Black Women by Irmengarde Lubido

Sexual Trigger warning: rape, incest, and sodomy are described vividly in this book. Those who are sensitive to these subjects be warned.

This book is broken into stories as told by four friends. Extremely graphic and detailed stories. This is not a book for young people and please be warned as to the level of intensity this book delivers.

Each story delivers a deep personal turmoil and life lesson through sexual prowess. It may be a bit uncomfortable at first it left me, as the old-timers would say clutching my pearls. The intricate style of writing is meant to grab your attention this way. The author was intentional in showcasing the bitterness in writing as a way of liberation. So it is as liberating as it is shocking.

Hungry is not for the faint at heart. I repeat. It is NOT for the faint at heart. You should be over 21 before you read, dare I say 40. If you have ever read Eros’s books, this author is his twin in pen.

Hungry is a collection of short erotic tales that mesh humor, romance, and horror together. The title, the cover, and synopsis are to be taken exactly as it looks and states because it is. Each tale delivers a deep personal turmoil and life lessons through sexual prowess. It is uncomfortable as I had to read several parts with one eye closed and clutching my imaginary pearls. The beauty of it is that it’s meant to be written this way. The author was intentional on showcasing the bitterness in writing as a way of liberation. So it is as freeing as it is shocking. Once you allow yourself to immerse in the tales with an open mind, you understand that even the raunchiest of stories can deliver powerful messages. The scariest and most grotesque story and yet surprisingly my favorite was Bumping Uglies. My only caveat are the few instances of grammatical errors throughout. Again, I must stress this is not your ordinary erotica, but it most definitely is a game changer.

Thank you NetGalley for this book and we are voluntarily leaving an honest review.

These stories are uncomfortable and should come with content and trigger warnings. The women are definitely angry but they're not really likeable. It needs a lot of editing but the stories are well-written. This book will certainly leave an impression.

I was not sure what to expect when I started reading this book. It is an intriguing mix of horror, erotica, kink and social examination. The stories contained within are unapologetic, erotic and filled with emotions. If you are a fan of erotica definitely give it a go, caution though it is not for the faint at heart. Some stories were disgusting but were riveting. Take a chance on this no taboo book if you dare.

This needs TRIGGER WARNINGS: Rape and Step parent incest.

This book is broken into stories as told by four friends. Some of the stories are WAY out there. I question if these were truly written by an African American woman. However a friend stated that there are outliers in every group. The rating is based on the stories being well written even if the scenarios are implausible.
