Much Ado about you by Samantha Young

Evieโ€™s fed up with her life. Passed over yet again for promotion and she decides things will need to change so she books herself a holiday to a quaint English village and finds herself embroiled into their lives.

A cute book with humour good character all ingredients for a hallmark film in a book. Lovely read if you fancy a feel good romance all wrapped up in a bow.

Easy, breeze & oh so cute! This one is perfect for fans of Hallmark movies. I really enjoyed it.

This cast of characters is fun, likable, and quirky. With a swoony-worthy leading man.

I have no idea why I kept reading this book after the way it started. I was all set to DNF, then I thought, let's get to England and see what happens...and the read took over for me from there. Is it uncomplicated? Yes. Does anything happen? Not much, no. Is it all about a place and its people? Totally. Is it realistic? Possibly.
But that's just it - I was reading for escapism, and this book gave it to me. It's light and fluffy and really doesn't much else going for it...but sometimes, that's exactly what you need to clock the brain off and just lose yourself in something

After another bad date and quitting her job after being passed over for promotion, Evie escapes to the UK. she is staying in a bookshop and running the shop for a month. On her first day she meets Roane and is welcomed in to the community, but Roane is keeping secrets from her, so what will happen when Evie finds out?

A great read - I hope there will be a book for Caroline.

Samantha Young does not disappoint with this story. Evie, our American heroine, is dissatisfied with her life in Chicago and when she passed over for a promotion she decides that something has to change. She books herself a holiday in holiday in a small village in Northumberland. When she gets there she is quickly immersed in the small village life from feuds to love. After saving his dog she meets and begins to fall In love with Roane, but Roane has a secret of his own.
Would highly recommend reading this and any of Samantha Youngโ€™s books.

Review:
I love how the author describes the situation or a place in the story. It shows that the author had a completely imagination or pictures while writing this book that makes me easily prescribe it. And surely the village is a very beautiful one.

The storyline is not much kicked out and thereโ€™s not much of a plot had built-in. But I can feel the character growth well but did she find her true self? ๐Ÿค” I can predict that there will be another conflict within the characters at the end of the story and I can say that Iโ€™m quite satisfied with the ending.

The plot twist is unbelievable haha! I never expected that and thereโ€™s a hint actually but I try to ignore the hint coz itโ€™s too good to be true ๐Ÿ˜… I donโ€™t want to think about what happened next to her and decided to just let it be.

Oh man! The description of the guy in the book is way too much ๐Ÿคข Honestly I hm, like it but yeah ๐Ÿ˜Œ Surprisingly there is a real bookshop that can be rent somewhere in England! Haha and the author said she decided to send Evie for it instead of herself ๐Ÿ˜† what a cute author ๐Ÿฅฐ

Overall this is a contemporary romance novel so, the storyline will be expected. But I love the main idea of it and hope one day I can experience rent a bookshop in my dream๐Ÿ€

I love reading romances in such a setting as in Much Ado About You. Itโ€™s also filled with Shakespeare references which I adored. I absolutely loved Evie and Roaneโ€™s romance, the slow burn of it. To sum up the story, this is about an American woman whoโ€™s tired of her life in Chicago and decides to vacation in a tiny village in England. Instead of a hotel, she is to be a manager of a bookshop for the duration of her holiday and during said holiday, she meets a hot farmer. They fall in love and itโ€™s HEA for them. This trope might be overused but I loved spending an entire day with Evieโ€™s story. Although the romance is central to the story, the author also takes you through the lives of some of the characters in the village & what happens after they welcome Evie into their lives. I highly recommend you read this book especially if you need a pick-me-up read!!

Another fantastic romance by Samantha Young. She is one of my auto buy authors. I LOVED the setting of this book. And I had heard of a book store that allows you to run it. So the premise was already intriguing. Coupled with Young's trademark wit and banter, this was delight to read. The romance as always is lovely and the heat level is always high. I thought it was a beautiful romance and cant wait to read more from her. Highly recommend.

Perfect escapism, I love Samantha Young, have read her books since she started writing and I love how different her books are, from fantasy to contemporary and this romcom shows yet again how talented she is. This is a heartwarming and humorous read full of great characters and atheism sweetest romance. I loved the characters so much and the setting (as a book addict itโ€™s perfect) a lovely escape, easy reading that makes you happy and takes you along with the joy, fantastic

I really enjoyed this story, it was sweet and a little bit predictable at times but that's ok as I read this book at a time I needed a feel good pick me up kind of book to read, and this was just perfect for me..
I loved the setting of the story and the characters were likeable enough to care about what happens to them. The writing was engaging and really captured the mood and atmosphere of the story. Another wonderful book from this wonderful writer.

I hate that I'm writing this now as I'm a fan of Samantha Young and her work but I just could not get into this one and had to dnf! I'm hoping that it's just down to my current state of mind and that if I pick this up at a later date I'm going to enjoy it.

Please don't listen to my review and go pick this one up as Young is an amazing author!

A cosy and well written story but I couldn't connect to the characters and the story fell flat.
Not my cup of tea.
Many thanks to the characters are Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This was a cute story but for me it lacked depth and development. The characters didn't hold my interest enough to be invested in them and it was a little underdeveloped plot wise too. Sadly a bit of a miss for me.

This was a heartwarming and humorous read with likeable characters and a slowburn romance.
Evie sees an ad for a bookshop holiday and leaves behind her busy life in the US for a tiny village in England.
She soon meets a wide range of characters during her stay in the village, becoming caught up in the lives of everyone and settling into the quieter lifestyle.
Roane is a farmer and spends his free time at the local pub . When he meets Evie there is instant attraction between the two but they are both wary about relationships and there is the constant will they , won't they , although friendship between the two quickly developes
When the opportunity to stay in England arises , Evie will have to decide if she is willing to leave behind her family and best friend to start a new chapter of her life . With a few misunderstandings thrown in because true love never runs smoothly .
This book has it all , beautiful scenic setting, characters that are relatable and a happily ever after.

As soon as I read the description of this book I knew it would be a story I fell in love with right away, and I am so pleased to say that I was certainly not disappointed!.

The characters were wonderful and so very lovable from the off, with each of them having their own life stories to tell, and unique quirks and traits to bring to the story. Evie was lovely, and upon deciding to get to 'know herself' once again, she decides to book a flight to a small town in the UK and opens up her very own bookstore. Soon enough, Evie finds herself well and truly in love with village life, alongside all of its occupants - as well as a rather ruggedly handsome farmer Roane. The romance that blossomed between Roane and Evie was certainly a slow burner, but that just made me all the more invested in their story.

I really loved the storyline and the way in which it focused around a bookstore, something which added so much to the story for a bookworm like me!. The other thing I really enjoyed was the way in which the author explored the various ways in which you can love somebody - be it on a romantic or friendship level.
I truly enjoyed this book, and would highly recommend it to everyone!.

When I saw on Netgalley that it was available to read, and review, a book written by Samantha Young, the experience of reading On Dublin Street came to me. I liked a lot of that book, also the synopsis of โ€œMuch Ado About Youโ€ sounded like something that will be amazing.

I fell in love with all the characters, as well as the place, the libraryโ€ฆ All of the pieces that were part of the ambientation are perfect to me. Always that I read a book about a reader lover- a completely bookaholic- I love it.

Evie wanted to know herself and decided to book a flight to a small town in the UK, to stay there and ran a bookshop. She fell in love with the country and the village peopleโ€ฆ And with a sexy farmer, Roane. Their story is a cute โ€œfriends to loversโ€. Maybe, I didnโ€™t like it a lot in the instalove, but it is something that I can โ€œforgetโ€ if I think about it in the full book.

Other characters that I really like are Viola, Lucas and Caro. The first two because their story of overcoming to love each other and fight for this romance was wonderful. Caroโ€™s story is amazing for self-improvement, madurity and freedom.

Another thing that made my heart beat and beat was the way that the writer explored the different types of love. The love from a friend (Greer and Evie relationship), the love that turns on romance, the self love, the love of a village and a huge etcetera.

To me was a perfect reading to disconnect to real life, feel involved by a wonderful ambientation and a really good writing.

Highly recommended.

I want to express my gratitude to Netgalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for giving me the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This started so strongly. I liked the first person monologue style which felt just like chatting to a good friend - a witty American thirty something booklover friend.ย I also liked that it wasn't just a love story but had lots more going on too with village life providing lots of family, friend and neighbour interactions (as well as a great supporting cast). I also liked the realistic timeframe with the story spanning a number of months rather than the whirlwind romances typical of this genre.

However, as it went on there were a few things that took it from a 5-star to 4-star. Firstly that newcomer Evie was able to fixย everyone else's lives, even fixing long-standing issues that had been plaguing the village for decades. It was a bit much both in terms of the ease and speed she could help and the sheer number of things she got involved in. At least a couple of these could have been forgone and more focus given to the running of the bookshop (which was one of the things that really drew me to this book but was sadly given little time). I also thought after the build up,ย Roane'sย "betrayal" was really quite insignificant and personally I really couldn't understandย Evie'sย distress at finding out the hot, single guy you've fallen for is actually extremely wealthy - I mean seriously?! But, most annoying for me wasย Roane'sย continuous use of the term "Angel" urgh!

A good book though despite a few minor niggles.

Iโ€™m sure that many people will love this story, but for me the book just dragged on forever. There were so many characters and subplots introduced and I simply didnโ€™t care about any of them.

4 Ado-rable Stars!

โ€œHow can you not be a fan of Shakespeare when his characters say epic shit like that?โ€

Oh, goodness...I didn't realize how badly I needed an escape to the English countryside. Samantha Young delivers a charming romantic comedy and it is JUST what the doctor ordered in these frigid pandemic times!

Talk about a dream gig! Evangeline Starling has been disappointed by men and life for the last time. When this thirty-something, big city American girl gets stood up and then passed over for the big promotion yet again...she is done! And who could blame her? Her need for an escape is overwhelming. So when she comes across a posting for a "bookshop holiday" where you get to run a village bookshop in Northern England for a month while living in the apartment above it, she jumps at the opportunity.

Shortly upon arriving, she stumbles into a rambunctious Great Dane, who startlingly resembles her own childhood pup, right before it runs in the path of an oncoming car. Once she saves its life, she meets the pup's owner, a freakin' hottie on a stick, sweet English farmer...yes, a big, manly man, strapping farmer with a very sexy English accent. I mean, the premise for this book is better than even the best porn, with a side of wine, ice cream, and a massage that my feeble little mind could ever conjure up!

YES, PLEASE!!! (On the book, not the porn;)

โ€œWait.โ€ Roane moved toward me, his expression eager. โ€œEvie, I donโ€™t make a habit of asking tourists out but I canโ€™t help myself. Youโ€™re brave, you love animals. Youโ€™re stunning. Iโ€™m a mere mortal.โ€ His chuckle had a slightly disbelieving tone to it, like he couldnโ€™t understand himself in that moment. โ€œSo please have a drink with me tonight.โ€

This book was just all the swoony goodness that a die hard romance reader could ever desire. I loved the entire cast of characters, and I REALLY hope this is just the beginning of another series from this author, like her On Dublin Street series.

I enjoyed the initial friends to lovers dynamic between Evie and Roane. I didn't find it to be very believable because there was huge attraction on both sides from the start but I get what the character was trying to accomplish. As much as I loved the side characters, there was almost too much page time spent on world building their backstories. I would have preferred for that time to have been spent with Roane and Evie once their romantic relationship began...or for the book to have been longer so that both could have been incorporated.

Don't get me wrong, hello Viola and Lucas!! That whole side story was SO GOOD and I really hope we get more of it, but again, I just don't feel like we got enough page time with the two main characters once they actually got together.

However, I loved the conflict and I never ever saw it coming. We knew there was something...some secret being kept but I was super surprised when it all came out. I thought it was well executed and totally believable given the characters backstories to that point.

โ€œYouโ€™re my home.โ€

Super enjoyable read overall and the perfect escape book to curl up with during one of these cold winter nights. Would recommend this one to all romance lovers in the mood for a lighter romantic comedy!

Iโ€™m gonna start this review, with feedback that might be just a pet peeve of mine, and it may not impact any other reader at all. But some reason it just rustled me. The first 20% of this book I felt a little like my head was about to explode, not because of poor plot or character development but the number of times things were described as โ€œBritishโ€. In my head, if youโ€™re going on a trip to England pretty much everything you do, see, touch and eat will be British.

With my mini-rant behind me, after getting over the use of the word โ€œBritishโ€ I settled into this book easily. It has a dog and bookshop in it so in my head, whatโ€™s not to like. Also, typical romance style you know how it will end and youโ€™re reading to find out how the plot goes from A to B.

I enjoyed Evie as a character and can see why sheโ€™s so likeable within the village, thereโ€™s nothing to really put a reader off her. I think she also represents a feeling everyone has at some part of our lives where we just donโ€™t know what to do with ourselves. Is what we are doing what we really want to be able to do or do we want to do a 180 and try something new? Evie is in the lucky position where she can take a step away to figure it out and enter sexy farmer and gorgeous Great Dane stage right.

It was quite lovely to see their relationship develop through the book, there wasnโ€™t a rush and you could really see each step Evie took to getting closer to Roane. For a little while, I could see what the crescendo was going to. Iโ€™d breezed past the clues so caught up in how cute Roane was to Evie that before the stuff hit the fan I had to have a little think, I did guess right in the end but really enjoyed the journey to get there.

Beyond my own pet-peeve of โ€œBritishโ€ being used what felt like frequently at the beginning, there was nothing else that put me off the writing style or the way information was shared. The author did a really great job of bringing life in a small village to life with everyone in each otherโ€™s pockets, quick-spreading gossip and of course village drama. I enjoyed all the characters introduced through the story but do wish there was more about the impact Evieโ€™s mum had on her.

I finished the book quite quickly and would definitely peg it at 3.5 to 4 stars, which is just my own experience of reading the book. This is a perfect beach/bath time read.
