I hadn't realised when I ordered this that it was the second book in the series. I really wish that I'd have read the earlier book first (I must stop impulsively ordering). I really enjoyed the storyline, I like the paranormal element to it. I hadn't realised the author had been around so long or had written so many books (has she discovered the secret to the fountain of youth). I'll definitely be reading more of her novels

Always great characters and a complex, twisted storyline. Drawn in from the start this was a delightful romp.

This was my first contemporary novel by Jayne Ann Krentz, I love her Amanda Craig historicals and have been enjoying her most recent 1920’s set novels, but have never read a contemporary by her until now.
This book, is the story of North Chastain, Foundation Cleaner - part of teams of talented psychics charged with cleaning up and solving paranormal incidents that occur in a world where a significant number of people have paranormal talents/abilities. North has always had to cope with rumours of his grandfather being a traitor and a criminal, he is now worried about his father who has been found unconscious in some sort of psychic coma, and the pain, anxiety and stress caused by the fear that he is losing his main psi ability, and that he sees ghosts and terrifying images when he sleeps/takes off his special glasses.
He is sent to investigate what happened to his father, and is paired up with Sierra Raines is working as a go between, sourcing paranormal artefacts for collectors. She also has a psychic ability, in that she is able to see people’s auras in mirrors and make them faint/collapse using reflective surfaces.
The head of the Foundation, Victor Arganbright, decides that North and Sierra are the best team to look into the now shut down government Bluestone Project, and the use of paranormal weapons.
Will North and Sierra are in a race to solve the mystery, avoid the puppets working for the person who tried to kill Chandler, and solve the mystery and retrieve the paranormal weapons.
This was an exciting, fast paced mystery of a book, with some interesting main characters and a sprinkle of romance. I enjoyed the thriller/suspense plot, and really liked both main characters, and would recommend this for an engrossing and relaxing read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and all opinions are my own

Sierra Raines is a Vault agent transporting hot artifacts. Sierra is a psychic who has a strong talent but is under a cloud of distrust from her last job. These relics will lead her to a secret project closed down years ago and a killer who has inherited a broken psyche. North Chastain had inherited his grandfather’s psychic abilities and was the only one able to access the secret lab and clear his grandfather’s name. This is a great world building of psychic abilities. Fast paced and exciting. What would come out of the secret lab would change many peoples lives. The immediate chemistry between Sierra and North is at the centre of this story. You will want to look for further stories in the Fogg Lake trilogy.
I was given an arc of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I read by this author and won't surely be the last as I found it gripping and highly entertaining.
An excellent story that kept me on the edge and I thoroughly enjoyed.
Excellent character and plot development, an interesting world building and a tightly knitted plot.
This is strongly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Another great read for fans of Jayne Krentz this is part 2 of the Fogg Lake saga. Somewhat wordy as the descriptions tell rather than show the tension between the main characters. There is a sprinkling of familiar names throughout the storyline which helps connect with the previous books. North and Sierra lack the passion that Jayne Krentz is known for when writhing, their chemistry is lacking and their interaction is that of business partners and not would be lovers. All said its still a great read.

I'm a big fan of Jayne Ann Krantz and I read all her books and series. I especially like the paranormal ones as they introduce new elements into the crime solving trope. There are times when I wish she would go into it a little bit more and make it weird, but then I am a fan of podcasts like 'Welcome to Night Vale'. It would be amazing if Ms Krantz would branch out into that kind of strangeness in her paranormal books.
This book was very pleasurable to read and I liked the main characters a lot. One aspect that rubbed me the wrong way a tiny bit was the explainer dialogue of the plot at the end. It screamed 60s James Bond movie, in which the villain exposes all his plans thinking Bond will die anyway. It felt very outdated. In addition the hero had explained his theory a few chapter earlier, so it felt like Ms Krantz doubled up on her plot explanation.

Thank You, NetGalley, Jayne Ann Krentz, and Little, Brown Book Group UK for the ARC of All The Colours of Night.
First off, Jayne Ann Krentz is an amazing author, and she writes amazing Romantic Suspense. I've been a fan of hers for a long time, and this book doesn't disappoint.
All the Colours of Night is the second book in the Fogg Lake series. The plot is very original - A Paranormal Experiment going wrong in Fogg Lake that changed all the residents' lives with paranormal radiation from the disaster. Since then, the original residents and their off-springs have paranormal powers in their DNA.
There are darker sides playing a role in the overall plot - paranormal weapons, secret lab projects, villains bent on getting to work these weapons, that made the story suspenseful, addictive, and very intriguing.
The story features Sierra Raines, who works as a go-between by finding artifacts and delivering them to eccentric collectors. These artifacts are tinged with paranormal energy that sometimes attracts paranoid collectors willing to kill the agents. It is a dangerous job, but Sierra has no other options after being set up as a Con by her previous organization.
North Chastain works as a cleaner for the Foundation, an organization that basically deals with the bad guys of the Paranormal Society. He is losing his psychic power, and that's made him think about his career prospects. One day he receives news that his dad's been in an accident and has fallen into a coma. That could be connected to the Chastain Legacy - his grandfather working for the Government in a secret lab and being announced as a Spy.
The Foundation hires Sierra to assist North in searching for the artifact that his father is looking for. And then the story takes a suspenseful and romantic turn. I loved the connection between the two! Sierra is a strong kick-ass heroine, who just wanted to find her calling. North is a hero with a lot of hidden depths, and I enjoyed getting to know him.
There are a lot of sub-plots that I think are perfectly tied up, except one that I guess will be carried over in the next books. There's a lot happening in the story that kept me engaged throughout. The plot got a little convoluted at times, and I think there was so much action that I didn't really feel North and Sierra together as a couple. Their character development is great though, and they do make good partners in solving crimes.
I haven't read the first book, but I think this stands out completely on its own.
4 Stars.

All the Colours of the Night is my favourite genre – romantic suspense with a paranormal vibe and not a werewolf or vampire in sight. Jayne Ann Krentz has created a world of psychic investigators where nothing is what it seems and a person’s aura can tell their story but only if you know how to read it.
North Chastain’s family has laboured under the cloud of his grandfather’s alleged treason. With a talent that makes him an exceptional tracker he spends his time hunting down the monsters who would use their psychic ‘gifts’ to harm the innocent. Now his father has been struck down by a mysterious ailment he has to delve into the world of obsessive artifact collectors with the help of Sierra Raines, to the locate the weapon used before it’s too late to save his father. Matters escalate when he realises events of the past may be playing a larger part in current events.
I really enjoyed this page turner of a book. It grabbed my attention from the start. The plot moved at a fast pace and each scene was described so vividly it was easy for me to picture it playing out in my head as I was reading. It did seem a little complex at times but once I got caught up in the story it flowed really well. The characters are well written and both had their strengths and weaknesses in their own right making them well balanced. I loved that North was willing to place his trust in Sierra when it came to his issues with his talent even though at that point they barely knew each other. Normally this instant trust between characters would jar with me but in this case, perhaps because their connection is so believable, it seemed natural. I also loved the throw away mention of the Arcane Society which has now made me want to go and re-read this series.

Oh wow, this was one fast, action-packed and utterly unputdownable book!
I found this one such an improvement on the first book. It felt like the stakes were higher, the suspense was sharper and the paranormal abilities were much more thrilling. I loved the idea of North’s power and I was fully on-board with our kickass heroine Sierra. The characters in this one were not the bland ones in book 1, they sparked with life and chemistry from their first appearance on page.
There is a lot to digest in the plot, and it does get a little convoluted at times but I never felt lost or confused. The plot was so riveting as all the little clues were uncovered, that it kept you on your toes the entire time. I did feel some parts were a bit too coincidental but I was genuinely surprised by the way the plot turned out in some cases.
My favourite part of this book however was hands down the characters. They are so different from their counterparts in book 1. I did complain in my review for that one about the character’s needing more of a backstory, and not feeling connected to them because they felt unfinished. I had no such problems in this one! Right from the start I adored how North and Sierra just connected, seamlessly becoming equal partners during their investigations. I loved how they each had a part to play and whilst North may have slightly outshone Sierra in some places, she definitely was no pushover either. I loved that North never downplayed her abilities just because he was the hero, he never kept her apart from the action but trusted in her abilities. He got major points for that!
This series is improving in leaps and bounds and I am so excited to carry on and read the next one! Fingers crossed we finally have Olivia as our heroine!

Such a delightful story. It’s Jayne Ann Krentz mark , the one that made me fall in love with her novels so many years ago.If you read her Arcane series, then you know what I’m talking about.
It’s full of suspense intertwined with mysteries and so many feelings that blooms between the characters. The felling that you know a person for a long time even if you just met her, the trust that you’re eager to give so easy, the butterflies of a new love and all the small paranormal suggestions, everything adds up for another must read from a long-time favourite author.

I love all the books written by the Author in all her guises and was looking forward to this second book in the
Fogg Lake trilogy . This book can be read as a standalone although some characters from book one do reappear .
North Chastain's paranormal talent is under threat , without his special glasses he cannot keep the hallucinations at bay ....... can he continue as a hunter without his gift .
When his father is found after an apparent attack which leaves him in a coma like state he resolves to find an artifact from the Blustone Project that he think may help save his father's life .
Sierra Raines has a special talent ...... she is able to identify paranormal artifacts ............. but she has recently been wrongly accused of fraud , losing her job ....... she now takes ad hoc work finding and transporting objects with a proven provenance of paranormal power . It can be dangerous work and when her most recent client tries to kill her she decides to reconsider her position .
North asks Sierra to help him find the artifact that might save his father .......... she is hesitant to get involved with the Foundation , but decides the risks involved are worth it .
The action takes them back to the Psychiatric Institute ( in book 1) where they are attacked ........... fleeing to Fogg Lake with their attackers in pursuit .
Just who is trying to stop them and what is the connection to past events in the caves in Fogg Lake .
I was left slightly disappointed with this book - the first half almost felt like a case of deja vu ..... an escaped
psychiatric patient, a talent out of control , a talented woman to the rescue and a return to Fogg Lake that almost felt contrived .
That being said I did enjoy the book and look forward to the next in the series - of which we were given a taster in the last few pages .
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Firstly, I am a huge Krentz fan. I love her writing as Amanda and as Jayne.
This book is a book two in the series, you can read it as a stand alone, but I recommend to read it as a series.
I just got the Amanda Quick vibe in this book. Because in this book is mentioned the Jones family and Arcane Society.
...This is a romantic suspense, and I love the paranormal part of this book ( the whole book).
The connection between North and Sierra instant. And they are just easy going with each other.
Yes, this was a good book. When you are reading this, you know it is Krentz who wrote it. There is no mistake.
This is not one of my favorites, but it was very good and I wasn't dissapoted.
This us a gooood 4 stars read for me.

I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine
I absolutely love this author and devoured this in one sitting
This is part of a series but can be read alone and it would not spoil any enjoyment of the book
Fast paced, thrilling read
A teaser chapter at the end to entice the reader to the next book
Loved it

This is the 2nd book in a series about Fogg Lake. I have read the first but such a long time ago now I struggled to remember it really. I suppose it did set the scene for this novel but it would have been very enjoyable without the 1st.
As usual with Jayne Ann Krentz books it was fast moving and gripping. Not too long and drawn out and a whodunnit to resolve, I am really looking forward to the next as there is a teaser chapter at the end of this novel. Excellent mystery and a great escape from the depressing world around us. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read a preview copy of this book.

this is the second book about Fogg Lake, and in my opinion you really need to have read the first one to know what's going on when this book starts - which I have and I was pleased to pick this one up.
If this is a romantic suspense, then in this book the balance is more to unravelling the mystery than to the romance. I liked North and Sierra and found their paranormal talents interesting, although as characters they weren't as strongly drawn as they could have been. I'd choose Sierra's emergency rations over North's!
I found the mystery element rattles along though and I wanted to keep reading and know what would happen next. there were echoes of previous JAK themes - the Jones family, Loring, Arcane etc - but these were only in passing and didn't hold the story up at all, which I appreciated. We also briefly saw Olivia and heard of Lina again, which was nice, but again only briefly and in a way that moved the story along. I even quite liked the poem that's quoted a few times - usually poems included in this way don't work at all, so that was a pleasant surprise.
Overall the book kept me wanting to keep reading the next chapter and unusually I enjoyed it more than the first instalment. I'm looking forward to the next one - I'd like to know more about Gwendolen Swan, who with the hints about her grandmother and the rats she keeps catching, seems intriguing.
