Laura has had enough of dating and dating Mr Wrong, so when an opportunity through work pops up she decides to take it and put her fate in the hands of Cupid, the new dating website that finds you your perfect match. Laura's perfect maths comes in the shape of a man named Adam.

Adam is apparently her Mr Perfect so why is all she can think about the Cupid's IT Technician Cass...

No Such Thing As Perfect was an alright read, I personally struggled to connect with the book and characters. I think there was a lack of depth and emotional connection with quite a few characters, there were a lot of assumptions to be made at times. I also really struggled to connect with Laura, she really irritated me at times and her problems were of her own making.

No Such Thing as perfect is a light read about romance in a technological age, whilst the book wasn't my cup of tea I would definitely try another one of Emma Hughes' books.

This was quite an easy read but I cant quite decide which genre of book I would describe it as. A bit of humour / love and self discovery? Enjoyed it nonethless! My thanks to netgalley an erc of this book in return for my honest opinion!

Laura is under threat of redundancy from the magazine she works at, her ex boyfriend is getting on with his life with their ex roommate I'm a smug way, she is currently living with her prickly sister and sweet brother in law. She agrees to get set up by a new dating agency and has to write about it all for her magazine, she gets matched up with a guy name Adam and I was really hoping that there would be more romance but I soon realised that wasn't goin to be the case. It's an easy to read book but it didn't manage to hold my attention from start to finish by the middle I found that I was pushing myself to finish reading.

What if a computer could use your browsing history to find your perfect match? Laura is invited to see if Cupid can do this for her, as a journalist who wants to keep her job, she really has no choice. Adam seems too good to be true. Is he really right for her? We meet her family, her friends, and the plot rambles all over the place, changing as often as she answers her phone. In the end, there are no real surprises, the best characters are Whit and Harrison!

I’m in two minds about this book. it was an easy read and it was kind of funny in parts, but it seemed like it was a bit too long, I struggled a little and I had to push to finish it. I went into it expecting a romance but it felt more like a coming-of-age story, in all honesty.

Overall, I did enjoy this book but it failed to hold my attention from start to finish and I found myself losing interest. I also found the MC a bit annoying and whiny.

I really enjoyed No Such Thing As Perfect! It felt more like a coming-of-age story than a contemporary romance. Perfect for fans of How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days and Bridget Jones Diary. Laura is a likeable character, she is playful, funny and has a brilliant sense of humour. I was fully invested in the story, however it’s left slightly open-ended in terms of the romance. The reader is left guessing what will happen next. I wish Laura got a bit more closure.

No Such Thing As Perfect by Emma Hughes another NetGalley read and a new author for me. Laura Morrisons who is a journalist, her life is far from perfect however is anyones. Laura has that one that got away who is now living that perfect Instagram life with his new girlfriend. Laura gets a chance to write a article for a new dating business while trailing it for herself but everything doesn’t go to plan and all isn’t as it seems. This book is ok that’s the best word to describe it, it’s very bland yet I think there was potential for it to be a great book but for me it was missing that spark, that special something. Laura the main character came across as very naive at times, annoyingly at times, almost to much of the innocent party at times. Laura is looking for that perfect Instagram life that doesn’t exist. I think some of the story line that was perhaps there to demonstrate that life isn’t perfect for example the breakdown of Laura’s parents marriage, was weak and actually didn’t had anything to the plot. I am not naive enough to think everyone’s life runs perfectly, however I think this is missing the conviction behind everything to back it believable and I think that is where the spark is missing. I know this is suppose to be a lightweight enjoyable book however I still believe it needs conviction and believability behind it to make it an enjoyable read or it does for me and maybe as a result this is a read for a younger audience, hope that makes sense. This book just didn’t hit the mark for me, it does have great reviews so maybe another marmite read, you’ll either love it or hate it. Sadly won’t be recommending this one. ☹️

I loved this book! Such a smart and funny romcom that really surprised me! I thought I knew exactly where this book was heading but I loved how I couldn’t predict it at all!
I really enjoyed the character of Laura but hands down this book has my favourite side character of all time Lil! The sass, the one liners…Lil was fab!!
Fans of Beth O’Leary, Christina Lauren & Sophie Kinsella will LOVE this!!

This book was a quick easy read for me that I read in one day. It was light and funny. I found myself giggling along to Laura’s antics.

It poses some interesting questions around data and matchmaking which could be thought provoking but despite this seeming like it would be the main thread of the story, it wasn’t for me.

I liked Laura and the family elements throughout this story but the ending fell a little flat for me. I much prefer a neatly tied up ending and this one didn’t satisfy in that area unfortunately.

On balance I’ve rated this one a 3/5.

This book had me completely torn. Part of me enjoyed it, I liked some of the characters, notably Lil and Dora and the plot was engaging, but there just wasn’t the romance element that I was hoping for which kind of left me slightly disappointed.

This is definitely more of a coming of age story than the romance/rom com that I was expecting when I went into this.
And that's not necessarily a bad thing but I was hoping for a little bit more both with the romantic element and the story in general.
There were some funny parts but I wasn't raring to read this each night and felt like I was more or less just getting through this instead of being excited to keep reading.
I also found it quite difficult to connect with and root for Laura and the ending fell a bit flat and felt rushed as well.
It was definitely an easy read but not an altogether memorable one, for me.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

It was lovely to escape to somewhere that was filled with laughter. The way that the author is able to explore the way we each bring our own experiences when reading is important as we find ourselves in places that we have each been in and had to find a way to understand how to learn from them.

Laura has always been unlucky in love so when she is given the chance to try out the newest dating app before anyone else, she goes for it. She is matched with Adam, handsome and charming - and the two of them agree to date for three months to give the app's magic the chance to work. Laura's sister Jamie and her BFF Lil love Adam, so all is good, right? But is a match on paper enough to get the sparks flying...
An easy to read fun rom-com of a book with some likeable characters and great moments!

In this day and age, online dating is all the rage. Laura signs up to Cupid, which aims to find your true love based on your internet search history. You really grow into Laura's character in this book. You live her journey with her and that is all down to how Emma writes this book. It's so easy to read and so light and fluffy - it's a chick flick within the pages! :) I loved it.

No Such Thing as Perfect is a story of self-discovery. Whilst fitting under the umbrella of women's fiction, I do feel it is more a coming of age story rather than a contemporary romance which the synopsis would have you believe. Perfect for those who love films such as Bridget Jones's Diary.

I found the author to have an easy flow to her writing, effortless and undemanding of attention, creating an easy read, an authentic and likeable protagonist who you are naturally drawn to.

However, even with it being such an easy read, the book failed to hold my attention for long spans. I found it lacked a little excitement for me, but that is personal opinion. Had the romance played a larger part of the story, I feel it may have captured my imagination and attention more.

However, there are parts of this book that brought a smile to my lips, a chuckle out loud and I appreciated the authenticity of the main character. A relatable escape.

This was such an interesting premise for a story, a dating app for the technological and social influencer era where people are matched based on their online activities. There were some things that I liked about this book, as well as some things that I found not so good.
I liked the storyline and found it laugh out funny at times and the wiritng was also good, however for me the characters needed slightly more development, but overall it was an enjoyable read.

This book is absolutely right there is no such as thing as perfect and disappointingly this book wasn’t either. I liked that Laura was learning about herself but ultimately I got fed up with her and so didn’t care. Adam and Cass were intriguing love interests but neither had enough story to give them depth. I don’t really like romance that comes from dishonesty etc and so I guess the ending should please me but I felt like there was a chapter or two missing.
It was well written overall and I got through it very quickly, it’s a shame. Just didn’t love the characters

This was such a sweet romantic tale. I really enjoyed the unusual take on the online dating world. I loved the premise of a dating app that used your Internet presence as a way to match you with others. It was such an intriguing idea which was entertaining as well.as slightly terrifying given that it was something that could totally happen in this era of technological advancement!

I loved the characters of Laura and Adam, seemingly perfect for each other on paper but finding cracks. Proof that an algorithm is not always the most foolproof way to find love.

The other relationships in the story, Jamie and Whit, Laura's parents and Lil and her ex, Warren and Sasha, continued to corroborate the fact that love appears when you least expect it and even the seemingly string relationships can fall apart.

I enjoyed the hopeful ending and the fact that the journey Laura took was one of self discovery and learning to love herself above all else.
