This was such a creepy book. It grabbed me very quickly and I rushed through it to find out the ending. Such an interesting story, so different. I wasn’t sure at first whether I would like this but, boy, was I wrong!! It was so good. I loved it. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

The Girl in the Mirror - Rose Carlyle

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Atlantic Books and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Twin sisters Iris and Summer are startlingly alike, but beyond what the eye can see lies a darkness that sets them apart. Cynical and insecure, Iris has long been envious of Summer’s seemingly never-ending good fortune, including her perfect husband Adam.

Called to Thailand to help her sister sail the family yacht to the Seychelles, Iris nurtures her own secret hopes for what might happen on the journey. But when she unexpectedly finds herself alone in the middle of the Indian Ocean, everything changes. When she makes it to land, Iris allows herself to be swept up by Adam, who assumes that she is Summer.

I was intrigued by this book throughout, it is full of suspense and will leave you on the edge of your seat. The first section of the book gets off to a slow start but the speed soon picks up once you get onto part two.

My best suggestion for this book, ironically, would be to not read too many reviews and go into it with an open-mind. I have seen many mixed reviews on this book and personally I feel that some of the reviews contain unintentional spoilers.

I enjoyed this book and really struggled when it was time to stop reading, the only thing stopping me from giving a five star review is the slow start.

Rating 4/5

Wow wow wow!! This book is a masterpiece! It will have you hooked from start to finish and leave you reeling.

Iris and summer are mirror twins. Summer is the good girl whereas Iris is more cunning. These traits are brought to a head when their father dies and leaves his fortune to the first grandchild born in wedlock. From that point on the race is on for the twins, their brother and their half siblings.

Iris thinks Summer is not interested in the race, but can she really ignore a hundred million dollars?

Summer needs Iris’ help when her stepson falls ill abroad. Iris goes to help and from there the story gets complex. A web of deception and lies, the tension of whether the lies will be uncovered.

A triumph of a thriller. Absolutely brilliant.

I would rate The Girl in the Mirror 3.5 stars. It was a pleasant enough read but I felt it lacked the ‘thriller’ aspect and a lot of the twists were predictable. Still it kept me entertained to the end. Thank you to NetGalley, Atlantic Books and the author for the chance to review.

Iris and Summer are mirror twins (the twins are matched as if they're looking into a mirror). Despite being identical, Summer and Iris are complete opposites! Summer is the family favourite, golden girl and she pretty much gets anything she wants. Iris is quitter and more of an outsider within the family. As they are mirror twins, Summer has her internal organs in the correct place, whereas Iris has hers back to front. Not only are their personalities different, their lives are too. Summer has a husband and a stepson and Iris wishes for a life like her sisters.
Iris goes to help her sister sail her yacht from Thailand to home. Something happens out on the ocean and Summer has gone! Iris tries to find her but then she realises her sister is dead. Instead of coming clean and telling the family, Iris decides to pretend to be Summer. Will she be able to fool the family, Summer’s husband Adam and her step son?
There are so many things going on in the book. One thing that really stood out was the inheritance on Summer’s husbands side of the family – the first one to give birth to a baby gains the million dollar jackpot. This is a major plot point so I won’t say any more, but this is so interesting and it kept me intrigued.
I really enjoyed this book and I read it so quickly. In my opinion there are so many things going on, it is impossible to get bored. There are so many mixed reviews but I think if you love mystery thrillers or just want an interesting quick read with a good story then I would 100% recommend it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love sister dynamics in stories. This is a great novel of twists and turns, beautiful locations, and unexpected moments. An enjoyable summer read.

This book really pulls you in from the beginning and really does take sibling rivalry to the extreme. This is a brilliant psychological thriller. It is pure escapism set in a world of sunshine, yachts and beautiful beaches. It is dark, twisted, sexy and clever. It really is a highly addictive, fast paced read, that I read pretty much read in one day. Yes, you might see some of the twists coming, but who cares, because it really is an explosive read right until the end, and I for one loved it.

Right from the beginning of this book you get hooked in as you realise that is not perhaps all as it seems as Iris is called by her twin sister Summer to come to Thailand to help sail the family yacht to the Seychelles. Iris always envious of her sisters lifestyle and perfect husband Adam jumps at the chance to step into her sisters life even for just a little while. But things don’t go to plan and Iris finds herself alone in the Indian Ocean with a sudden decision to make. Will she grab this life and take what she feels she deserves and has always dreamed of? How far will she go to get what she wants?

I really hate not liking a book and having to give a review but I really struggled to finish this book. I just felt it maybe wasn't for me. The plot I found through out unbelievable and by the time I got past one thing, something else would happen,

I really disliked the characters as well, especially the main character and by half way I was just hoping they would get killed off already, sorry!

I felt there was maybe 4/5 different stories you could have which ended up in one book. and
I was really hoping it was going to get better but sadly for me it didn't.

Twisted, disturbing and sinister with a really surprising dark humor in places.

I feel quite disappointed that I didn’t see the twist coming but it got me good.

Covering topics from family to unexpected deaths, you can barely keep up and it’s a race to the final reveal.

Really good

Wow!! What a roller coaster of a book! Twisting and turning, unpredictable and a must read. There were at least three occasions when reading this book that my reactions made my partner ask me if I was ok!
I don't want to do a plot summary on this occasion as I don't want to risk any hints or spoilers.
This is the story of identical twins - Summer and Iris. That's all I'm telling you! I recommend that you read this and immerse yourself in their story.

This is a quick and easy, feel-good but consuming book. This would be the perfect type of book to sit down with next to an open fire. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

3.5/5.

I really enjoyed this book. Iris and Summer are identical twins. Iris has always been jealous of Summer's easy going personality and popularity. When Summer asks Iris to sail their yacht from Thailand to the Seychelles, Iris jumps at the chance. However, when tragedy strikes, Iris finds herself with the opportunity to have everything her sister has. This is a real twisty tale which makes the most of the 'twin' scenario! Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

A great book with a great twist. I loved the style of writing Rose Carlyle uses to follow identical twins Iris and Summer Rose.

Summer Rose has the perfect life, so why wouldn’t Iris want to take it? And with 100 million dollars at stake thanks to their father’s will what better reason could there be?

A real page turner I would highly recommend it.

Oh my days, I absolutely LOVED this book and all the twists and turns that came with it. Surprise after surprise came at me with this and I could not put it down!

This was very good - full of twists and turns with a completely unexpected and very clever ending. I would certainly read this author again and do recommend for a fast paced thriller.

The Girl in the Mirror was an average mystery: it didn't bring anything new to the genre, but at the same time it was a fast read and I'm not sorry I had the chance to read it.
The first 30% was slow and even quite boring. The book took its time introducing the characters and the past events, and there were also a lot of informations on yachts which I didn't care about. However, once Iris takes Summer's identity the book became more fast-paced and exciting.
I must say I figured all the twists out (and I really mean all) almost as soon as the story started: f you read a lot of thrillers, the plot shouldn't be very surprising to you. However, despite the fact I didn't find any of the twists shocking, I still enjoyed how the author played them and how certain things came to be.
I will keep an eye on her future books.

A strange story, twins- one lost at sea, one having to make horrific decisions. A long perilous journey. Lots of twists, it’s a fast paced book, ending slightly rushed for me and I felt a few things unanswered.

Spine chilling until the end! A thoughtfully crafted story with immersive scenery. The journey of twins throughout their lives, a long boat travel and a fair amount of deviance: I devoured every chapter greedily and even though satiated I was still yearning for more! A mind blowing and unexpected must read!

I so desperately wanted to love this book. The synopsis sounds amazing, and I'm a sucker for anything involving an evil twin. However, the reality was just completely underwhelming. The first third of the book was just completely bogged down in a load of detail about sailing and yachts, and if I'm honest I nearly abandoned it a few times. But then everything picked up a bit so I stuck with it. And it did get better, but just not enough for me to rate it higher than 3 stars. It was just too predictable and not engaging enough for me unfortunately.
