“Over My Dead Body” is an unputdownable rollercoaster ride of a thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Jeffrey Archer weaves a gripping tale of murder, revenge, and betrayal that spans across London, Geneva, and a luxury liner en route to New York.

Detective Chief Inspector William Warwick, the rising star of the Metropolitan Police, finds himself at the heart of three interconnected investigations. The newly established Unsolved Murders Unit in London tackles cold cases that have stumped everyone else. Meanwhile, in Geneva, the supposedly deceased millionaire art collector Miles Faulkner continues to be represented by his unscrupulous lawyer. And aboard the luxury liner, a battle for power within a wealthy dynasty takes a deadly turn.

Archer’s writing is sharp, the pacing relentless, and the plot intricately layered. The clock is ticking, and the tension builds as Warwick and ex-undercover agent Ross Hogan race against time to catch the killers. The characters are well-drawn, and their motivations keep you guessing until the final pages.

What I loved most about this book is how Archer seamlessly connects seemingly disparate threads, revealing unexpected twists and connections. The suspense is masterfully maintained, and the resolution is both satisfying and surprising.

Whether you’re a fan of detective fiction, thrillers, or simply enjoy a well-crafted mystery, “Over My Dead Body” delivers. Archer’s storytelling prowess shines through, making this a must-read for anyone seeking an adrenaline-pumping, page-turning experience.

Meet William Warwick, the cool lawyer dude dealing with all sorts of political mess and courtroom drama. Jeffrey Archer spins this wicked tale full of surprises and backstabbing that keeps you guessing. The characters are legit; Warwick is this righteous hero, and the bad guys are sneaky and shady. The courtroom scenes feel real, like you're right there in the drama. Archer's writing is on point – loads of juicy dialogue and a story that moves like lightning. It's a page-turner from the start, and you won't see the twists coming. If you're into legal thrillers with a side of suspense, "Over My Dead Body" is where it's at. Archer's got this genre on lockdown, proving he's the boss at crafting intense plots and keeping you hooked until the very end.

This is the fourth book in a series. I felt the writing was a bit disjointed.
I was bit invested in the story or the characters. A but disappointing

This is one of my favourite authors. I have read the previous books in this series and I couldn’t wait for the next instalment. It did not disappoint. Thrilling and captivating my attention. I read this book very quickly. I now await the next one.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Jeffery Archer for the advanced copy of this book. I agreed to give my unbiased opinion voluntarily.

Over my Dead Body by Jeffrey Archer was another excellent book this is the forth book in the excellent Detective William Warwick series and I have been hooked from the very first book.

This has been a great series and I highly recommend all of these books.

Big thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review

This is the fourth book in the series and I had previously read the second book so was familiar with Detective William Warwick. I enjoyed the writing style and thought the characters were well portrayed, but parts of the plot felt disjointed. I generally like Jeffrey Archer’s writing but, sadly, this one wasn’t a favourite. Thank you to Net Galley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Jeffrey Archer is firmly on my list of favourite authors, and I don't think I've ever read anything by him that I didn't love. This book lived up to my expectations and I found it entertaining and couldn't put it down. Read in one sitting and I have no hesitation in recommending.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

Having read and loved all three previous books in the William Warwick series, I couldn't wait to dive into the fourth instalment to see what new case awaited the revered police officer (as well as follow up on some unfinished business from the previous books).

Now a Detective Chief Inspector, William Warwick is called on to head up a cold-case murder team. While simultaneous cracking these unsolved crimes, he and ex-undercover cop, Ross Hogan, are hot on the heels of Captain Ralph Neville, Christina's new fiance who they believe is not who he says he is...Throw in a third plotline revolving around a wealthy American family aboard William's ship to New York where he and Beth are supposedly taking a well-earned holiday and you've got yourself a multi-layered thriller that shows no signs of slowing down.

I devoured this book in just a few days, as is standard with a Jeffrey Archer novel. It took me a while to get into the story which began on board the Alden but as expected, all was revealed over time. I loved the tangents into the different cold cases that intertwined with the hunt for the supposedly dead Miles Faulkener which saw William and Ross covering a number of countries in their search for the elusive fugitive.

The writing was pacey and accessible, with fully-formed characters who felt as familiar as a warm blanket on a cold day. I loved how all the different plots, both new and existing from previous books, broke the book up and then came together towards the end. I love this unique and clever writing style of JA which explains why he is a bestseller, even in his late 80s.

One of my favourite parts of this novel was reading the conversation and listening to the interview (I switched between audio and the physical book) with Jeffrey Archer. I loved hearing about his writing process and characterisation. But the main thing that stayed with me was when he said that his books have no swear words, no sex, and yet people still want to read them - this resonated so much with me and is definitely one of the main reasons why I love this series. It just shows how you don't need these two elements to produce an authentic and unputdownable human-centric novel.

Another big win in this ongoing series - I've already got book five ready and waiting!

I'd read book 1 and then straight into this one and whilst I might have missed out on a bit of Warwick's back story I didn't fell like I was missing anything important.
The story is set some decades ago and it was nice reading a police mystery without all the new fangled technology.

A slow read for me and took me a while to get into this one. Not as good as his earlier books but still worth a read.

My first foray into the world of William Warwick (this being the fourth in Archer's series on the detective) was an enjoyable, well-paced police procedural. Set back in the 1980's, primarily in England (this particular title taking place in 1988), the story follows rising star of the Met police force Warwick as he tries to capture an old nemesis, with various strands of the case coming together to involve not only him, but his family and friends also, as well as some international jet-setting.
The 80s setting works really well, as the lack of modern technology adds an element of tension and urgency to their actions, making life both simpler and more difficult depending on the circumstances.
Warwick is an engaging, clever and witty lead character, and the peripheral characters add their own interest and side stories which makes the overall plot more rounded. I really enjoyed this book , despite having no knowledge of the series before picking this one up - it was quite easy to get a grasp on the relevant background and characters - and would definitely be interested in reading more in the series.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the copy of this title in return for my honest review.

I haven’t read many books by the author in the past and this one was definitely a great surprise and fresh breath of air.
I loved the adrenaline that rushed through my veins while reading this story and while I didn’t knew most of the characters, I could easily distinguish them throughout the book.
It was interesting to see how the author will bring an end to this story when there were so many loose ends opened and I wasn’t disappointed at all in the end. Yes, the door is left wide open for the next instalment, but what I’ve read today it’s definitely a read that sold me the whole series.

Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

I was very happy to read this latest in the William Warwick series.
Lots of threads centred on the main character with action that takes place on an ocean liner, in South Africa, in Spain and in both the backstreets of London and Mayfair.
The villain returns from the dead and the plots become more twisted. The masterpieces are stolen and returned!
As well as unravelling crime, the characters in Warwick's team are developing too. It's clearly a Jeffrey Archer book, the style and action are familiar. A good easy read, one that you keep finding time to go back to. The next one, I imagine will start right where this one stops as there are loose ends to tie up. Looking forward to it!

Although the 4th in the series, I read this as a stand-alone novel which worked well.
It has been so long since I have read a book by Jeffrey Archer and I had forgotten how intriguing and well-written they are!
This plot has one main crime running throughout it, along with three side plots (cold cases) weaving their way through the narrative. The characters are so well-developed I felt like I knew and empathised with them all (well the police characters and their families) and totally despised the criminal characters.
The language used is descriptive and flows easily, clearly creating many scenes around the world, from cruise ships to Barcelona.
Totally loved it - the plot, although twisty and with surprises, moves quickly and holds the reader enthralled. I will be back!

I’m sorry but I couldn’t finish this book. The characters were too two dimensional and the dialogue was shockingly stilted. I usually enjoy Jeffrey Archer’s books but this one was for me.

#OverMyDeadBody #NetGalley Another great read from one of the best story tellers. A good old fashioned police mystery. This story had many layers with plenty of action and lots of twists and turns. Some sad and emotional aspects too. Easy to read, I hope there are more installments with DCI Warwick and DI Hogan.

This book isnt something I'd usually go for but I've heard of Jeffrey Archer a few times and I was interested in trying a book by him. I found it intriguing and quite interesting. For me, it ended a bit abruptly, I felt it needed a couple more chapters to really end it properly, although the last few lines were quite funny. I'm certainly tempted to try more books by Jeffrey Archer having read this

I was excited to read this as a preview, as I loved his previous books and this didn’t disappoint.

It is the latest in the William Warwick series. It can certainly be read as a standalone book, but those who have read the series will enjoy meeting the familiar characters again. It is fast-paced and really cleverly thought-through

Another Warwick crime novel that reads easily, keeps you interested until the end but it can be formulaic, too much condescension and some unbelievable situations and conversations.

It was just OK and not as good as Archers older material. It was a very slow start with dialogue that was too mundane and not seeming to take the story forward. It picked up but left me thinking I wouldn't recommend.
