I'm always a sucker for a good sapphic romance, and this was no exception! A peek behind the curtain at a romance between an A-list movie star and an A-list singer. Sweet, non-angsty, and easy romance. Perfect palate cleanser from all of the other more in depth romances I've read lately. 💕

I read this in a day - an easy read with more than enough to entertain you and keep your interest up.

An A-List movie star gets together with an A-List music star ... sounds like fun and it was. Their relationship also seemed quite genuine and enjoyable. Not too fast, not too slow, just right. The perfect porridge.

I can't even put into words how much I loved this book! I love seeing sapphic relationships in books, and especially non-toxic ones. It's a story about overcoming past problems and healing to become a better version of yourself and finally feeling happy. The only thing I didn't like about this is that I read it too quickly and wanted more, a sequel would be amazing if that's a possibility. I loved all the characters minus Jane and the one who went behind Harlow's back (spoiler).
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read this.

This was a fun romantic read! It was authentic, and a fun behind the scenes look at both the music and film industries. Great queer read!

This book has two main characters, Audrey Knox and Harlow Thorne. Audrey is a beloved teen actor and America's Sweetheart whose success has followed her into her adult life. Her life is considered perfect and has no blemishes. Harlow on the other hand is considered the complete opposite. Bad girl in the music world, but very popular and very much emulated by young girls.
Audrey and Harlow meet when Harlow is asked to write the theme song for Audrey's upcoming movie. The attraction is instant. Harlow knows Audrey's image and tries to deny what is going on. Audrey's knows Harlow's image and tries to stay away from her so her own image is not tarnished.
Will the two women be able to overcome their images and find what is in store for them? You will have to read this to find out!
I would recommend.

I honestly couldn’t finish this book. I guess I was expecting something more from the book based off the synopsis but the characters I just couldn’t connect with. I have enjoyed some of the authors other books but this didn’t do it for me.

I really did enjoy this Celebrity romance by Jackie D. I am a sucker for a well written romance involving celebrities. The blurb made me excited to read this one and it did not disappoint. The mains Audrey and Harlow are likable characters and you can like find something to relate to each one of them. The chemistry between them is sizzling which makes for a rather hot connection. I especially like the drama of the mother coming back into Harlow life and the twin brother trying to protect her from it. As you read this one you can tell that something isn't adding up with Harlow's brother but honestly what goes down I NEVER guessed. That for sure was a plus for me. I would love to listen to this one as an audio book. I can only recommend you read this one.

I am sad to admit that I did not finish this book. I don't think it was a bad book but it just wasn't the book for me. I normally love stories about celebrities, about musicians and their lives but this one, I just couldn't connect with the characters. I tried for several weeks and it just didn't happen.

Heartwarming romcom, with light angst. This is the first book I have read from this author, other than the collaborative book Swift Vengeance, and well I do love a celebrity romance.

Audrey Knox, America’s Sweetheart, is everything she appears to be. After a public break up, a run in encounter with "bad girl" pop queen Harlow Thorne sparks a connection both women don't feel entirely ready for.

This book starts really fast, and for the first part of the book I had trouble keeping up with the emotions of the ladies. Both are career focused, busy women, who spend their lives in the public eye. They seemed to be getting to attached too quickly, however there are a few short time jumps to aid the story arc. Then the family drama kicked in and it hooked me. Harlow's character arc and her relationship with her brother brings an interesting layer to the story, and not how I thought it was going to go.

Something I really enjoyed about this book is the maturity of the characters, Harlow has a lot of past trauma to work through and she recognizes that. Even when she is running from her problems she sets clear boundaries for those around her. Audrey grew up in a more stable home than Harlow, and through her support system has managed to not let the fame go to her head. She takes great care to provide support without telling Harlow how to feel, but still stands up for herself.

VIP is a sweet feel-good romance. Falling in love with Audrey is very easy and Harlow is worth all the efforts. As soon as they meet, the chemistry is off the charts. The best part of VIP is the depiction of those first moments, when the attraction is so strong and so wonderful you’re not sure what’s happening. I’m always surprised when a character asks the other MC to be their girlfriend, even though I’ve been told people really do it. It made me smile that Harlow would be surprised too. It was sweet and funny.

NetGalley Review:

VIP is a great beach read. The plot isn't too heavy and it follows the sort of normal track of a queer romance novel, but it is very enjoyable and satisfying. 3 stars and I will be looking for more from this author!

Whenever I hear that Jackie D has written a new book, I assume it will be another suspenseful read. To my surprise, this book is not a suspense or a mystery. Instead, it is a romance - a very enjoyable one!

The two main characters are Audrey Knox and Harlow Thorne. Audrey is an A-List actress who is at the top of her game. She is loved by her fans and each movie continues to increase their love for her. Audrey has recently had a very public breakup and is not looking to get into another relationship anytime in the future. Harlow is a singer/composer and she, too, is at the top of the charts. Her twin brother is her manager and best friend.

Audrey and Harlow come from different backgrounds. Audrey has a great family who support her in everything she does. Harlow and her brother come from an abusive trailer trash environment. At an early age they strike out on their own and never look back. Both Audrey and Harlow are big fans of each other’s work and when they end up working on a film together, there is immediate attraction.

Ms. D has done a wonderful job with her story. It is interesting and will keep your attention throughout the book. The characters are interesting and believable. Readers will find that after starting the book they will want to continue reading late into the night.

From now on, when I see a new Jackie D book advertised, I will not assume it is a suspense. She is very versatile and provides hours of entertainment to readers. I rate this book with 5 out of 5 stars.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a really enjoyable read. I was interested in this book as I like celebrity romances. Harlow and Audrey had great chemistry and were super sweet together. They were also both likeable characters. Harlow's family issues were unexpectedly dark, which added a level of depth to the book and the character's development. The story itself felt very real despite featuring two celebrities. A very pleasant read.

Firstly I’d like to start with saying a big thank you to Jackie D, Bold Strokes Books and NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

VIP is the first book I have read by Jackie D but she’s definitely on my radar now and I’ll be looking out for more of her books in the future. I’ve rated it a 3.75 (rounded to 4) out of 5 stars thanks to the lovable but complex characters of Audrey and Harlow. Despite their flaws I couldn’t help but root for their relationship and their future together. I particularly enjoyed that it was a story of sapphic love that didn’t involve a coming out story or a plot based on homophobia.

I know not everyone enjoys a dual perspective book but in VIP it really aided the readers enjoyment, getting to hear the motivations of both women. It was a very sweet but short novel, making it perfect for a quick summer read. The shortness did hold it back a little though, I would have loved a deeper dive into both characters and learnt a bit more about their backstories. I did also think the resolution felt a bit rushed compared to the first half of the book as Audrey and Harlow didn’t face much conflict until quite late in the story.

Having said all of that, I still enjoyed VIP enough to give it almost 4 stars and would happily recommend it as a fun sapphic read. It has relatable characters, a cute romance and just the right amount of angst to keep it interesting. Definitely worth picking up as a summer read.

*Thank you NetGallery and publishers for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own*

I really enjoyed this book. I won't say it's one of my favorites, but an enjoyable read nonetheless.

Audrey Knox is an A list actress who has a predictable personal life that is devoid of scandal. She meets Harlow Thorne, a singer on top of the music charts, who is essentially the opposite. Harlow has a difficult family dynamic to say the least, but her and Audrey have an undeniable connection.

I don't want to add much more of a summary because there are some really unexpected turns that this story takes. Some of which, in my opinion, add to the story and others that seemed placed for shock value. The character building for Harlow is pretty in-depth, but I feel like our understanding of Audrey stays relatively superficial. This is somewhat unfortunate, as I think Audrey was by far my favorite character. The romance was believable, though a little quicker than I typically enjoy. I do recommend this book for anyone who enjoys the Hollywood type romances!

Just a really sweet book. I loved both MC and Audrey’s mum and best friends too. My heart was broken for Harlow who seemed like a lost little girl when her brother messed up

I was totally invested in both characters, more of a romantic ‘I’ll be there for you’ than passionate relationship

I can't believe how invested I was in this storyline and couple! When I had the opportunity to review this book I was a little ambivalent. I mean how different can this be from so many other "famous people" books? This book is definitely different. The chemistry between Audrey and Harlow was palpable. It felt like a biography rather than fiction. All of the characters were engaging and realistic. I felt such a bond with Harlow, though I'm not famous, because her childhood family dynamics were so similar to my own. This is just a beautiful love story without artificial drama added and shows the painful side of childhood trauma and how it can be over come instead of being a slave to it. I definitely recommend this book!

Honestly thought I posted this review on July 13th (aka release day) as I planned to, but since I now realized I couldn't find anywhere I guess I forgot to hit send or something so here we are. To the good people at Netgalley and also Bold Strokes Books, I appologize for the delay and thank you greatly for letting me read an ARC of this book fof an honest review.

As for the book itself, I'm not really sure how to describe it. Don't get me wrong, it was no doubt an enjoyable read and I liked both of the MCs in it, especially Audrey, but unfortunately this book just didn't catch my interest the way I wanted it to. That being said, I do recommend it to anyone interested in a good and nicely-paced, yet not revolutionary, wlw book and/or a romance book and will make sure to check out Jackie D's future work.

The book "VIP" by Jackie D is about the actress Audrey Knox and the singer Harlow Thorne, who have to overcome some difficult phases together. This celebrity romance unfortunately didn't grab me that much and for me the spark between the two main characters was missing. The story was okay, but not outstanding.

Serious Sweetness
Audrey is an out actress and lucky enough to be America’s sweetheart. She is a bada$$ action hero with killer good looks and even better skills. Shes a private person and a bit of a good girl, never causing a scandal, not like her secret crush Harlow…. Harlow grew up on the wrong side of the tracks but her musical talent and a ton of hard work has made her a star. Shes a not out lesbian who faces the world with her twin brother. When she meet her teen age, but still current crush, Audrey, the two are smitten and things are wonderful for the pair, at least for a little while. When her mother reappears and a secret is exposed she is left reeling. Can our sexy sheroes stand the confusion and chaos or are they doomed to be alone? Time will tell….

What a wonderful book! The story is so entertaining and endearing! I loved all the technical stuff that goes on behind the scenes in both women’s careers. It was fun to see and made me think about how much really goes into a concert tour. I adored watching these two lovely women fall in love with each other. They are dorky and a bit awkward but sweet and warm. I totally got the warm fuzzies more than once!! It was hard watching Harlow’s world fall apart but I admired her strength to rise above. They are a special couple and I loved going on their journey with them! This engaging book is the first one Ive read by the author but it will not be the last one!!! I cant wait to read another if they are this good!
