Exciting thriller/drama that keeps you guessing right to the end. building a worthy climax. Six women travel to a gorgeous Greek island as part of a Hen's weekend away. We are expecting sunsets, drunken nights and partying, but there are too many demons bubbling underneath the surface. Nothing and nobody is what they seem, they all have secrets that change the course of the weekend.

We learn at the beginning that someone will die, but the story cleverly keeps us guessing to the end who it will be and why. Written from all six points of view, we start to understand each girls history and more importantly, her secret. The setting is gorgeous and beautifully described. Each character is interesting and has depth. And the storyline unfolds with perfect, tantalizing pace that makes the book unputdownable. Yes, this felt a bit formulaic but the formula worked and I loved all the characters, drama and intricacies.

One of the Girls is one of those books that I am now kicking myself for not picking up sooner! I LOVED this book so, so much! Once I started I could not put it down and it took me no time at all to finish it, which resulted in me staring at the wall for 20 mins. After a few day of wallowing in a book hangover, I'm not ready to share my thoughts!

So, the things I loved; all of these women were so well written, I felt like I knew all of them and could see them on their holiday! The story had me gripped and on the edge of my seat. Clarke's writing is SO clever in this one, my head was spinning from all the turns this took! And the ending! Yes! I'm I'm going to spoil it but it was SO good!

My only negative: I wasn't poolside with a cocktail while reading this, such an ideal holiday read!

I’ve read a few of Lucy Clarke’s previous books which have been set in stunning locations. One of the Girls is no different and set in a beautiful villa on a remote part of a Greek island.
A majority of thrillers appear to be set in dark and gloomy places which adds to the atmosphere, however the disturbing atmosphere isn’t lost in One of the Girls with the isolated remoteness of the villa with no other houses or people around for miles.
This is definitely a book to enjoy getting immersed in during the Spring or Summer months and would make a perfect holiday read.

I received an advance copy of this book from HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction through Netgalley, however this did not influence my unbiased honest review of the book.

Five very different women come together to a beautiful villa in Greece to celebrate the hen weekend of their friend, Lexi. It should be a relaxing carefree break filled with fun and celebration but as old and new friends mix, hidden secrets and ancient issues are brought to the surface. With a cocktail of secrecy, lies and revenge, this is a hen party that will leave the guests with more than a hangover.

I really enjoyed this book by Alice Clarke. Each of the characters are so different in personality but are all well-developed and believable characters. Each one has face adversity and as the narrative progresses, we learn of their struggled and how it has effected them in all area of their life. Regardless of characteristics, each of the characters have been strong and faced their struggles with bravery. This is an over-riding theme of the book - the strength of women and their ability to come together for other people.

The chapters of the book follow different characters and their perspectives of the weekend as well as revealing information about their past and present. I really enjoyed this approach because it gave a multi-dimensional view of the same scenarios.

The book is easy to follow and truly engrossing. A fantastic read!

Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins and Lucy Clarke for the opportunity to read this book as an ARC.

A story about the intricacies of friendships and relationships and the damage that is so easily caused. As I have covid I’m spending my time reading abc sleeping. But I didn’t go to sleet till 4am as I wolfed this book down.

A hen party in a beautiful, luxury villa on a a Greek island. What could possibly go wrong? A disparate group of friends of Lexi, the bride, some old, some newer, all with secrets and some unexpected connections to each other. The stories of the group are told from multiple points of view and relationships are changed forever by events which twist and turn on the way to a dramatic climax. A great beach read which I highly recommend.

A hen party on a Greek island, six women all with their own secrets, one death. This is a gripping beach read that I devoured. The twists and turns were expertly drawn and all of the characters were three dimensional and complex.

I’m a big fan of books that deal with the complexities of female relationships and this one did not disappoint! Deliciously complex. A book that I would 100% recommend!

I really enjoy Lucy Clarke’s books, so I was really excited to read this one and it was amazing! The setting is in the Greek Island’s for a hen’s weekend and it is such a fun vibe as you get to know this group of women. As you delve into their stories you are trying to work out how they are connected and who you can trust. I loved this one so much and enjoyed the twists and turns as the story unfolded. The house they were staying at on the island also had an isolated feel to it, which I loved. If you love Lucy Clarke’s other books, or just enjoy good, fast paced, easy to binge thrillers then you will love this one.

Firstly, I would like to thank Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book.

The story of Lexi’s hen do on a lovely Greek Island. All the girls attending have some connection to the bride. Each character tells their own story, and it transpires that not only do they have a connection to the bride, but also to each other in different ways.

You know there will be a some sort of tragedy but you have no idea what is going to happen, or who it’s going to happen to. It makes for an exciting read.

Really enjoyed this hen do tale set against a beautiful Greek island! The story of the hen do is told from multiple points of view, with each character being connected to the bride. From the offset you know that a tragedy occurs on the hen do, but you don’t know what who, why or what happened. I love how the different strands came together at the end, with a few unexpected twists.

Would recommend this for an easy yet unpredictable, beachside read!

Wow, what a hen do!! So many twists and turns, you are suspicious of everyone then some of it may be misguided. What an absolute page turner!

The storyline alternates with chapters from the perspectives of several of the characters switching between them effortlessly. However, this book is filled with heartbreak as each character has something significant they are trying to process and move on from. It is a fast-paced read with a high level of suspense throughout.

What a read! A hen weekend on a Greek island is the background for a great holiday read. Six women ready to enjoy a weekend of sun, fun and celebrations. As secrets emerge, friendships are stretched and lies exposed the tension builds. Lucy Clarke never fails to deliver. Her characters are completely brought to life, some you like, some you despise, each one being brought to life in each page.
I had no idea of what was to come. A brilliantly written fast-paced read which is hard to put down.

An enticing read, set in Greece, it's the tale of a group of women on a hen do and what happens on their weekend stay there. Each chapter is about each character and only to say that each chapter leads you to an unexpected conclusion, definitely recommend, kept me hooked from beginning to end

A good solid and fun summer read, keeping you glued until the end. Everyone is a suspect, nothing is as it seems, and the ending catches you off guard. Recommended.

I love Lucy Clarke's books - they've yet to disappoint and this one was certainly no exception!

Set over four days at a hen do in an atmospheric villa in Greece, we learn lots about these six friends and their hidden secrets and lies.

As you can probably predict, nothing on this hen do goes quite according to plan - how well do you really know your friends?

A great fast paced read with multiple characters to get to know and understand.

Loved it

Six girls go away to a Greek Island to celebrate Lexi’s hen party. But are they all really there to celebrate the hen or do some of them have ulterior motives?

I’ve not read anything by this author in ages and I really don’t know why, I’ve yet to be disappointed by one of her books. This is an easy, gripping read with loads of twists.

In a few months, I will actually be organising my friends hen do so I really hope it doesn’t end up like this one! 😂
