First off, props to an exceptionally creative MC name, Jansin Nordqvist. That alone made me excited to read the novel. Moving on to the novel's premise, and this novel becomes more than exciting it becomes promising. And over-all, it delivered. I thoroughly enjoyed the plot. While dystopian novels are a dime a dozen these days, I enjoyed the take on this one. Living underground is unique and would come with its own set of difficulties. I like how the author covered some, but I would have enjoyed more world building. The novel is action packed, but there was a change of pace that happened dramatically about halfway through. As a result, it made the prose seem disjointed. Finally, while the MC and her mother were very well done and dynamic characters, all secondary characters were flat. Even the love interest seemed one dimensional. This really took away from the story. In all, it was an easy read that didn't make you think too hard.
