This is the perfect beach read. Told in dual timelines this is a charming story of family, lost love and starting over. Grace has lost her Grandmother and is cleaning out her personal items when she finds a series of letters from WWII. The letters are very romantic and speak of a lost love before her Grandfather. Grace investigates to find the author and deliver a letter her Grandmother never sent.
I enjoyed this charming story of a woman starting over after loss, a soldier in love and romance lost to the ages. A endearing love story is the sweetest story told for readers.
Thank you to Net Galley, the publishers and the author. My review opinion is my own.

I loved they synopsis and thought that this book might be just the light read I needed but it is so poorly written that it was a struggle to complete.

As the title says, it’s a book of secrets.
Grace Littleton goes to Seafoam Cottage, Dovecote to sort out her grandmother Lily’s house and possessions she finds out more than she bargained on! Some secrets are best uncovered.
As Lily’s life is disclosed you can see similarities between Grace and her grandmother
I particularly liked Lily’s story. Favourite character was Henri, least favourite was Rachel

I thought this was a good story told through dual timelines. It had some surprises along the way.
The characters felt real and I can imagine the emotions they all felt.
It’s a nice start to a new series. I’m looking forward to the next one.

A lovely emotional story, I was hooked from the first page. Great characters.
I look forward to reading more in this series.

Absolutely loved this book. If you enjoy dual timelines, with a bit of WWII history, lots of heart and a healthy dollop of wit this is the book for you. Laura Sweeney's writing is emotive and informed, powerfully interweaving a grandmother's love story with her granddaughter's journey of discovery, unveiling closely guarded secrets and discovering new (and old) passions. Can't wait for the next book in the series, it will be going to the top of my TBR pile!

Oh my gosh. I just recently finished reading this book and noticed the next book in the series is out now. What can I say about this one? It is a wonderful story and with a blurb like this, 'Grace stares at the glittering blue sea from her grandmother’s bedroom, clutching an old envelope to her chest with shaking hands. This will change everything she believed about her grandmother…' how could I not delve into it.
We find Grace returning to her late grandmother's cottage by the sea in a town called Dovecote (love the setting) where she discovers letters from the Second World War in an old chest. This leads her to get help form an ex-boyfriend and so the story develops from there.
This is both an historical look at the past and a bit of a second chance at love story for the present. I love Grace's character and found this book charming with the dual-timeline and the way it is written which takes you back and forth between past and present. The characters are so real, the story took me into the characters lives and I must say I didn't put it down once I started reading it. It is that good.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read this wonderful book.

Set in wartime and modern times in the village of Dovecote. A complicated tale of grandmother and granddaughter, and their lives and loves.

My Grandmother’s Secret is such a wonderful story. Perfect for a rainy day, snuggled in with the cats under a cozy blanket with a cup of tea.
After the loss of her grandmother, Grace returns to her grandmother’s cottage. Overcome with memories of Lily, her grandmother, Grace begins the process of sorting through her belongings. She comes across a collection of love letters signed by someone whose she does not recognize. Mixed in with the letters, she finds one written by her grandmother that was addressed but never sent. Enlisting the help of her ex-boyfriend James, Grace sets out to unearth the secrets hidden in the letters.
Told with a dual timeline the book follows the stories of Grace in present day and Lily during WWII. Complete with history, romance and charm, this beautifully written book with its captivating story and relatable characters will have you holding on to every word.
Thank you to Bookouture for the ARC of this book. This is book 1 in the series, and I look forward to seeing what the author has in store for us next.

Thrilling and utterly compulsive! An incredible read, impossible to put down. Incredible storytelling! Recommend you read this book! A captivating story that I was drawn into from the first page a propulsive read that never let me go from start to finish! Looking forward to more in this new series

Looking for a nice story to read on a rainy afternoon? This hits the spot! Mixing a little history of WWII and what happens in uncertain times, the reader learns about family secrets and what happens if they are not revealed. I read this in one afternoon and can't wait for the next book in the series to be released.

I was completely captivated by this book from the very beginning. The dual timeline following Grace and Lily's stories was cleverly done—each thread equally compelling, and the way their lives intertwined kept me turning the pages late into the night. I was genuinely gutted when it ended; I could have spent much longer in both of their worlds.
What made this book stand out to me was how refreshing it felt as a historical fiction novel. It beautifully blended romance, humour, family dynamics, travel, and rich historical detail without ever feeling heavy. The characters felt real and relatable, and I loved how the book balanced heartwarming moments with deeper, emotional layers. A brilliant read—I’m still thinking about it!

Women's fiction readers, watch out for My Grandmother's Secret by Laura Sweeney. It was such a good read.
