Girl Dinner by Olivie Blake
I give this book 4 stars.

Sophomore Nina Kaur and professor Dr. Sloane Hartley both join the elite sorority “The House”. As both women dive deeper into the sisterhood’s opulent rituals and the newest trendy “wellness” movement among wealthy moms and sorority girls, they discover that the glamour hides a bloody price and must decide how much they’re willing to pay

This was my first Olivie Blake book, and I can definitely see why so many readers love her style. Girl Dinner is sharp and witty. The premise of exploring desire and hunger was intriguing and there’s a quietly unsettling atmosphere woven through the book. The authors prose is introspective and the writing is layered. It’s more character driven than plot focused.
The pacing felt slower than I anticipated but I’m definitely curious to read more of her work after seeing so many recommendations. Girl Dinner didn’t quite hook me the way I hoped, but it left me curious and sometimes that’s the best kind of first encounter with an author.
With thanks to Netgalley,Olivie Blake and Pan Macmillan | Mantle for my chance to read and review this book.
