This isn't your Mother's channeling…

Walk-In Investigations: Streaming Sarah by Joyce Kostakis is like Ghost Whisperer meets Dead Files meets Fringe, Streaming Sarah is the first in a thrilling trilogy with a rare fusion of detective mystery and the spirit world. It’s a must for fans of intelligent crime dramas.

Dying was the break she needed…

Or so she thought. Homicide Detective Katie Hanson always prided herself on being an advocate for the dead. When she returns home from the hospital after a near-death experience, the door to the spirit world remains open ... wide open. Now the murder victims of her police department's cold cases are haunting her, beginning with Sarah Alexander and her two children. It turns out that Katie's near-death experience has added a new skill to her crime-solving abilities… she can stream the dead. It is more than just channeling murder victim Sarah Alexander's account of her horrific murder and the murder of her two children, much more. Katie learns to stream Sarah's consciousness, her memories, her very soul.

Katie realizes that a dead person’s memory of the events can be as flawed as the living’s: Sarah’s testimony does not back up the evidence. Katie's gut instinct is to believe Sarah, but the evidence doesn't support the assertion. It made matters worse. Now she has two suspects. Will Sarah help Katie bring the killer to justice, or will they drag in an innocent man?

I love paranormal books. This was fantastic. I would do a little housework or a little laundry & my mind was constantly on this story & what was going to happen next. I can't wait to start another one by this same author!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review of the story.

This story has a plotline that is twisty, convoluted, suspensful, full of mysteries, murder, body snatching, and is down roiht absorbing - I couldn't put this book down.

Katie is a detective - we meet on her wedding day. She is in the middle of a panic attack and cannot go through with the wedding. Through internal dialigue, we learn of Katie's anger, anxeity and family issues that lead to a suicide attempt.

Her best friend Vicky finds Katie just as her body is about to succumb to a suicide attempt. At this point of the story, the paranormal aspect hits the ground running. Katie is in a whirlwind survival mode having out of body experiences.

As the story develops, we learn that Katie is an intelligent, open minded, strong willed, tenacious woman who will use any tool available to solve a case.

I highly reccomend this book and hope to see a sequel soon.

This is a genre I don't usually read, but I have been looking to mix up my reading chooses and chose this book. I am glad that I did! This book was full of mystery and suspense and was incredibly well-written. The ability to stream messages from deceased people was a bit of a stretch for me, but the author wrote in a way that it wasn't out of place or over the top in regards to the rest of the book.

Walk-In Investigations is a paranormal mystery. The story revolves around Detective Katie Hanson who has always been an advocate for the dead. She has to be after losing her mother and her twin.

Every year on the anniversary of their death she tries to kill herself. This year though was different. She did not want to die she wanted to live. But she does die at least for several minutes and when she returns the door to the spirit world remains open.

Surviving her suicide attempt, Detective Katie finds that the murder victims of her police department's cold cases are haunting her for answers.

The author's description of the attempted suicide was so real I actually found myself holding my breath.

This is an excellent written psychic novel. Highly recommend.

Walk-in Investigations Streaming Sarah was a very interesting book and I love the mix of detective work with the addition of the paranormal. I loved the concept of the ability to stream messages from the deceased and this book was very well written.

The overall story-line and plot is very suspenseful and convoluted making for an excellent mystery.

The MC Katie is a detective and we learn that she is fraught with emotional issues stemming from a difficult family dynamic. Katie's best friend Vicky finds Katie just as she is about to die from a suicide attempt. This really ramps things up because as Katie struggles between life and death she has an out of body experience that gives her (or activates) her paranormal ability to stream the dead. Katie is an excellent MC and I really enjoyed her character growth through the book and I would read more from this author.

I highly recommend this book.

I received this book from NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for an honest review.

Quickly drawing me in, the first third of the details the aftermath of Katie Hanson's suicide on what should have been her wedding day, kept me riveted and the pages flew by as she observed herself and her rescuers. While the story hit a speed bump for me in the middle, the wrapping up of the mystery was well done as was the ending. I enjoy paranormal mysteries, but this took some unexpected turns. Still, I've rounded up from 3 and a half stars based on the voice and the writing, overcoming the going off the rails in the middle.
