When life for the entire universe and planet turns on its end and like everyone else you "have nothing to do" while your place of work is once again closed and you are continuing to be in #COVID19 #socialisolation as the #secondwave is upon us, superspeed readers like me can read 300+ pages/hour, so yes, I have read the book … and many more today.
I requested and received a temporary digital Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley, the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review.
From the publisher, as I do not repeat the contents or story of books in reviews, I let them do it as they do it better than I do 😸.
A positive, authoritative guide on getting the most from a plant-based diet.
Veganism is one of the fastest-growing movements across the world, with 3.5 million people in the UK alone having cut out animal products completely. This diet, however, is not without its difficulties. As with any diet, changing what we eat means that we also need to change the way we eat and how we think about food. Simply cutting out meat and eating more veg doesn’t guarantee a healthy diet. With Vegan Savvy, readers can remedy these pitfalls so that they feel healthy and bursting with energy and vitality. This is the simple, flexible and nutritionally approved way to make it easier to stick to a vegan diet without compromising on health.
Written by Azmina Govindji, an award-winning registered dietitian, consultant nutritionist, international speaker and bestselling author. She is a media spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association and contributes expert advice on the NHS Choices website, as well as appearing regularly on UK national daytime TV programmes and news channels and in the national press.
FINALLY, A VEGAN BOOK THAT ADMITS THAT JUST CUTTING OUT MEAT AND EATING MORE VEGGIES WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY. AND HEALTHY!!! (although you may lose your sense of humour on the way as I have not yet met a vegan with one!) It is also not written by an "influencer" who makes $$$ off posts - this woman is smart and beyond credible.
This is a great read if you do want to go vegan or eat more vegetables: there is a lot of smart information and ideas in here and some seriously yummy recipes that you can add animal products to if you have really picky eaters in your home as I do. (I personally draw the line at cheese that did not come from an udder!) The recipes are well written and understandable by cooks of all levels and are very appealing to me and other lovers of food out there.
What I love about the book is that it uses whole ingredients instead of pre-prepared and packaged foods. I do draw the line at making my own cheese, and canning tomatoes but the more "ingredients" you use the better. My one nephew says that I never have any food in my house, only ingredients --- that is why I cook so much. I also refuse to eat or cook with "chick'n" and its 88 ingredients vs. 🐔chicken🐔 having one!)
This is a perfect Christmas gift (It comes out Dec. 20th) - this book along with some cookware (or meal prep containers as a lot of these recipes are ultimately portable and batch-cooking-able) wrapped in a tea towel (one can never have enough tea towels!) would be hugely appreciated.
As always, I try to find a reason to not rate with stars as I simply adore emojis (outside of their incessant use by "🙏-ed Social Influencer Millennials/#BachelorNation survivors/Tik-Tok and YouTube Millionaires/snowflakes etc. " on Instagram and Twitter... Get a real job, people!) so let's give it 🍅🥕🥑🌶️🍆
p.s. - eating fries and a milkshake at McDonald's does NOT make you a vegetarian!
