Description

As the walls rise, the beautiful Simona tempts Amadeo to abandon his vow of chastity. Then Naples declares war, the workers flee, and he gives in to despair. Eventually, the work resumes.
But Dario is ever a slave to pleasure, debauchery, and power. His disgust at Amadeo’s piety finally boils over, and he plots the builder’s moral downfall.
