Description
IF YOU COULD CHANGE THE PAST, WOULD YOU?
Discover the funny, heartfelt novel about love, family and second chances.
Adam and Jules are having a mid-life crisis. Married for twenty-five years, with their kids about to leave home, they are wondering if the grass might be greener without each other. Then they discover a way to time travel.
By chance, Adam realises that the mixtapes they made for each other in the ‘90s can magically transport them back to the early days of their relationship when they press play. Now they can travel back in time to the sounds of the music that brought them together whenever they want. They can even fix their past mistakes by making different choices.
But it turns out playing ‘what if’ is dangerously addictive. And each little tweak they make to their history throws their family more off balance. As things spiral out of control with their kids, their jobs and their marriage, can they work out what they really want? Or have they gone too far to find their way back to each other?
‘Witty, relatable and packed full of nostalgia’ Paige Toon

I absolutely loved this book. It’s one of those books that you can’t wait to finish but don’t want to get to the end as then it’s gone! I loved Adam and Jules and would have loved to be their friends. It’s a rom-com about a couple who have been married 25 years who are a little unhappy. It’s remembering why you fell in love in the first place. It’s funny and nerve wrecking!
Adam and Jules are stuck in a rut when their best friend, Darius returns from the USA and makes them think about what life could have been like had they followed him out to America 10 years ago. Jules is having a declutter when she asks Adam to get rid of their old mixtapes. Instead Adam lugs them to his man shed and puts one on his old Sony. He is transported back to 1989 when he first gave Jules this mixtape and he relives the 60 minutes of the tape. Once he’s back he tells Jules what he discovered and we follow them travelling back in time where they can’t help to change things, but is the grass greener?
It was such a nostalgic read with all the music and the Spotify playlist really helps set the scene and is a great companion to the book. All the songs in the book are on the playlist. We’ve all wondered what life would be like if we did something different and it’s great to see what the alternative could have been if you had made different decisions.
It’s a heartwarming story that could be so true to life which is so refreshing. It’s real love. I’ve always enjoyed books that Josie and Emlyn have written and I am very much looking forward to reading more that they write together again. I will definitely be buying this when it is released and I will re-read Come Together when it’s re-released!
