This was exactly the kind of fantasy I love reading. The world-building was immersive, the magic was intriguing, and I found myself completely captivated by the story from the beginning. Every chapter expanded the world in a way that felt natural and made me eager to learn more.

The characters had wonderful chemistry, and I loved watching them grow through each obstacle they faced. The balance of adventure, emotion, and mystery kept the pages turning, and before I knew it, I had flown through the book. This is one I'll definitely be recommending to fellow fantasy lovers.

In the world were magic users rule the society, a forbidden bond is created

Sergeant Greg Ryder unexpectedly becomes a guardian of two orphaned magic users. As an Enforcer he saw and experienced how manipulative and dangerous magois can be to people without magic. Now he has to keep the kids safe surrounded by people who hates them just because they have magic. As he tries to deal with the trauma the children experienced, more and more suspicious attacks happen to him and his team.

The story is told from multiple POVs. It helped us see how the world and power system works from different points of view. The world building was immersive and unique. The plot was intriguing and easy to follow. I loved the magic and magical creatures. The story of their creation and their powers were really interesting.

The characters were well fleshed out and easy to root for. We were able to see their struggles, fears and love for each other. It was heartbreaking how Greg's team tried to accept the kids even though they hated magois for what they'd done to them. I loved the relationship between Greg and his team. They really cared for each other; they were a real family and knew they could count on each other no matter what happened. My heart broke for Lancelot and Alanna, after losing their parents they were made to stay with strangers that looked at them with suspicion from the first meeting. It was a shock to them to learn how magois abuse their power. They had to struggle a lot to make the Enforcers accept them.

Overall, it was a great story and an incredible start to a new series. If you like action packed stories with emotional impact, you should read this book. I am looking forward to the next book.
