Just What the Doctor Hired is a sweet, fun, hospital-set romance that gave me all the feels. Autumn’s “no-men-till-BSN” rule was relatable, and Jensen was the perfect mix of charming and vulnerable. Their chemistry, banter, and the fake-date setup kept me hooked from the start. A lighthearted, swoony read that left me smiling.

Autumn Summer Haze (yes, that's her name!) is a nursing student focused on completing her studies. With a psychology degree already completed, Autumn cannot wait until she is a fully practicing oncology nurse. In addition to her studies, Autumn also holds two jobs to help cover the costs of her school and apartment. It is her job as a Plus One companion that brings her to the attention of Dr. Jensen Edwards, a doctor working at the local hospital. Up for an award, Jensen doesn't want to show up without a date. Especially since his ex will be there with another doctor. Thus begins Autumn and Jensen's fake dating relationship.
I loved the way that this trope was done. It also had the "he falls first" trope, which was also enjoyable. The story is told from both Autumn and Jensen's perspectives, and the plot moves at a relatively steady pace. The secondary characters, such as Jensen's best friend, Dan, and his wife, Kristine, his patients and even his mother and brother, were great. Big fan of Autumn's fathers, Papi and Dad. That scene when they're in Autumn's apartment and they catch Jensen and Autumn. Hilarious!!
There was a lot of passion and desire, but the focus was all on the burning and longing they had for each other. Something I believe that the authors got so right.
Very enjoyable!

This slow burn romance was a hit for me. Easy, lighthearted and humorous made it such an enjoyable and light hearted read.

If you're looking for a doctor romance this is the book for you. You will fall in love with Autumn and Jensen.

Just What the Doctor Hired delivers a sweet, slow-burn romance with just the right balance of humor, heart, and healing. Autumn Haze is focused, independent, and determined to put her nursing career first—until she meets Jensen Edwards, a swoony pediatric hospitalist in need of a fake date.
What starts as a professional arrangement soon becomes something much more tender and complicated, with both characters navigating personal baggage, professional reputations, and undeniable attraction.
Perfect for fans of fake-dating tropes, strong heroines, and emotionally mature love stories. A warm, satisfying read with lovable leads and great chemistry.

Just what the Dr. hired by Amanda Nelsoj and Lisa-Marie Potter is a fun office-ish romance that reminds me of Greys Anatomy.
Autumn Haze is student working on completing her nursing degree. She has sworn off dating until she achieves her degree, but since school is expensive she works at a escort company of sorts called Plus One. Plus One is a company that helps its clients find companions for events.
Jensen Edwards just had a bad breakup, and is now the talk of the hospital. They are talking about his recent break up but also him receiving a best doctor's award, and so in hopes that it would get them to stop talking about him, he lets it slip that he's already moved on and found someone else.
A friend tells Jensen about Plus One, and Jensen agrees it would solve his problems so he hires someone to escort him to the award ceremony. However he is freaked out that word will get out that he hired his date. Once Autumn and Jensen meet however their chemistry is undeniable.
This was such a fun and cute read. It is a slow build up and a closed door romance, it focuses more on story building. If your a fan of Grey's Anatomy or Doctor Romance give this one a chance.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

Really good book which I will recommend to others.
Thanks for the opportunity to read & review it.

Unfortunately this one was a DNF at 20% for me. The summary had all the makings of something I’d love but I found the characters hard to root for and their motivations difficult to understand. Sometimes you can just go with these things in a light/fun/easy romance book but this one just didn’t work for me.

I reall enjoyed the book! it was refreshing to see that the characters didn't just get together. The books was a lot more than just the romance and I think it was a well written book.

Thank you Wild Rose Press and NetGalley for this ARC.
This fun, light hearted novel is a step away from the usual books I read and I really enjoyed it.
I enjoyed the characters and the plot and would definitely look out for more by this author.

A really good read. The plot was good paced and kept me reading throughout. I liked that it wasn't just a happily-ever-after story and that they had to overcome some obstacles to get to be together.

Thank you to Amanda Nelson, Lisa Marie Potter, build Rose Press, and Netgalley for the ARC. My review is voluntary. All opinions are my own.
This was a unique book! A young woman Autumn working as a companion/escort. She is hired by Dr. Jensen Edwards for a recognition gala. He is quite intrigued by Autumn, but per the contract the companionship is all that is included. Good story about the trials of their courtship.

Thank you to Netgalley and Wild Rose Press for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book and read it in one day. I loved the characters and the storyline! I thought the characters had great growth. I would definitely recommend this book!

Just What the Doctor Hired by Amanda Nelson is just what you need the next time you go to the beach or pool. This fun, swoon worthy, slow burn romance is such a unique twist to the meet-cute experience. While there is no spice in this rom-com, it keeps you engaged throughout the story with the ups and downs of their unique meet-cute and if they can actually overcome that and find happiness. I loved both of the MCs so much, it hurt me to see them hurt. Yes, I cried reading this book (when not laughing). I’m not a fan of the FMC’s best friend. She isn’t supportive or listens to her friend and how their former motto was no longer feeling right for her. Instead the best friend just lamb bastes the FMC and her budding new feelings she wants to share. But on the flip side, I love, love, LOVE the MC’s best friend and wife. And how their loyalties aren’t blind to just the good ole’ doc when he steps knee deep in it and hurt our FMC. They side with her and tell him to fix it or else. Duh duh DUHHH!!! Such a great rom-com. Easy ready. Great palate cleanser.
I received an eARC of #JustWhatTheDoctorHired from #NetGalley in lieu of my honest opinion and review of the book.

Really enjoyed this story about Autumn , who is going to school to get her bachelor in nursing degree by she moonlights as a companion at plus one and the ticket booth at the ferry. She is hired for a night to accompany Pediatric hospitalist Jensen Edwards to an awards dinner as he is receiving an award. Is he the one that may make her forget about her motto. You must read to see what happens . A very entertaining book. .A VERY GOOD READ.

I'm partial to a hospital romance, particularly with my love of Grey's Anatomy and it's relationships and drama. I had a great time reading Just What the Doctor Hired.

I enjoyed reading Just What the Doctor Hired by Amanda Nelson & Lisa-Marie Potter. You will fall in love with all the characters. I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely. Happy Reading!

Just What the Doctor Hired is a novel by writing duo Amanda Nelson and Lisa-Marie Potter. Dr. Jensen Edwards is a pediatric hospitalist. He’s been keeping his head down and focusing on his work since pharmacist Kayla cheated on him, then left him for oncologist Dr. Andrew Lee. The hurt was awful but the embarrassment was immense. Then, when it was learned that Kayla was a gold digger and left him for Andrew’s greater income it was like adding insult to injury.
When Jensen needs a date for a dinner where he will be honored as a top doc, he asks friend and author Molly Covington to be his plus one. While she initially agrees she then reneges when she and her boyfriend get back together. But so as not to leave Jensen high and dry, Molly hires a Plus One companion for the evening. Having met her fellow through Plus One, Molly gets a good recommendation and researches the lady before making the contract.
Autumn Haze is a BSN student, adding this to her psychology degree. She is making ends meet, but barely, by working at the ferry toll booths full time and also as a Plus One companion on weekends. She refuses to take any more money from her dads. They already paid for her first degree and that’s enough. While most of her clients are well mannered, there is the occasional jerk who insists on a different sort of service, but she promptly cancels those contracts upon meeting and leaves. This is one reason why she only meets clients in public places, doesn’t use her real name at work, and never gives out personal details, especially contact information.
Molly selects Autumn, makes the arrangements, and gives Jensen the meeting information. While nervous, Jensen is made very comfortable by Autumn and they click on how the evening should go. In fact, the chemistry is off the charts And they hate to see the evening end.
This is a different kind of romance tale and I really enjoyed it! I do recommend this book!

Thank you so much to Lisa-Marie Potter, Amanda Nelson and their team for providing this book for review via Netgalley.
I have to say I enjoyed this book a lot it was a fun and easy read, it was just what I needed, the characters were very lovable and engaging, their chemistry was palpable and soo cute I was rooting for them from the beginning, I do have to say that at times it did feel a bit insta lovey and rushed especially how they fell in love and I felt like the ending was a bit dragged out but overall it was a really fun book and their character development was heartwarming🤍

Autumn meets Jensen when she is hired as his date. Soon it turns to more, but if people find out how they met how will it be received by their friends and colleagues? I liked how it was told from both points of view.
