I really enjoyed this memoir - a collection of anecdotes from the point of view of Ralph. Most were about his father, Mahogany Jim, but some were about himself, for example at school or his nemesis, his baby brother Jimmy.
This was a well written collection and I could easily picture the 'characters' and the locations in the Bronx and surrounding areas. Some parts made me laugh out loud; others made me despair at the cruelty of children and the brutality of school!
Fishing and hunting are not hobbies I am interested in, but the author made sure the level of detail was just right so as not to detract from the story.
An accomplished piece of writing and a pleasure to read.
