Kind of remind me of Vampire Diaries meets Twilight. I love the dark romance and the shades of love.

I enjoyed this story but I didn't laugh as much as I expected.
My favorites remain the first few Jane Jameson books.

Here's the truth, straight up. What I wouldn't give to move to Half Moon Hollow. I'd have coffee at Jane's bookstore, and browse her eclectic selection. I'd enroll my kids at the local school just so I could schedule play dates with my favorite vamp mom. Girls movie and gossip night? I am so in!

Poor Ben has often got the short end of the stick in this series. He's the good old boy, the prime candidate for the "it's not you, it's me" line. Sweet, considerate, a downright gentlemen. It was about damn time he got the girl! Until she bit him, that is.

Poor Meagan. You know you're having an extra crappy night when a simple game of disc gold turns deadly. Err, Un-deadly. Now she's stuck in BFE Half Moon Hollow, hanging out with all of my favorite characters as she learns to cope with the transitions she's going through.

So yeah, now would be a good time to throw in a plot twist and make things a little extra difficult, mkay? Yeah, Molly Harper's got us covered. Humor, just enough romantic steam, and all the snark I could want. I'm a glutton though, I could have kept reading for days.

Instead, I devoured this book almost instantly, then mourned its being over. Par for the course with this go to author, and always worth the pain. Another excellent addition to an addictive series. Keep 'em coming!

As always the team of Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi (narrator) kept me entertained and laughing. Accidental Sire was a fun addition to the Half-Moon Hollow series. Loved the mutant vampire aspect, it added to the humor. I hope this is not the last we will see of Jane and the gang living in Half-Moon Hollow.

*scratches head*

*stares blankly at screen*

*realises I have 1000 things on to do list*

*does 999 things on to do list*

*stares at screen*

I think I’m ready now. The above was my process when trying to write this review, I would stare at my screen for a while…realise that there was some small domestic task I should do…would go do that and come back to my blank computer screen and stare at the screen again. It took me while to finally get anything coherent out. More than it was “It was kind of okay”. But, that’s the jist of this review. It was kind of okay. However, it was also kind of boring.

For me Accidental Sire was mostly boring with a few moments of hilarity thrown in which added to the star rating. The concept of being turned into a vampire because of an accident involving extreme Frisbee and a 45 pound weight amused me, but after that it just didn’t capture my attention. I feel like Harper is really stretching this series thin, there doesn’t seem to be much material left for her to play with and every time I read a new book it’s slightly more mundane and I lose more interest.

Summing up, this book was kind of okay, but also kind of not. There was nothing inherently wrong with it, apart from the fact that there didn’t seem to be much going on with it at all.

I absolutely adore both the Jame Jameson and Half-Moon Hollow series, and greatly look forward to each new installment. They just always make me feel amazing at the end due to their hilariously quirky nature. I always look to this series when I'm looking for a funny, witty, and overall feel good read to give a pick-me-up, and ACCIDENTAL SIRE once again delivers. There's just something about Molly's writing that is well, magical. Things can get so outlandish at times, and I find myself hopelessly giggling throughout. That being said, it's not just the humor that pulls me in, but the incredibly large cast of characters that are all fully three-dimensional, and the plot lines grab me hook, line, and sinker too. There's plenty of action and danger without stepping into too dark territory, balancing out that humor so very well.

As much as I enjoyed ACCIDENTAL SIRE, I have to admit the romance was not exactly its strong point. I've truly enjoyed each of the couples in all of the previous books from Half-Moon Hollow, but Megan and Ben just didn't have the same spark. It's a shame honestly, I really enjoyed Megan's character. And I always thought Ben was super adorable and a stand up guy in the previous books. But in this book, he was just a Jerk with a capital J. I understand the circumstances they were under were less than ideal, but he seemed to conveniently forget for most of the book that she had to deal with said terrible circumstances too. His behavior just really soured things for me in the romance department and I never quite forgave him even by the end. But luckily in all fairness the romance isn't really the focus here, so it's not a huge hit to the book, but more of a small frustration in the end.

Overall, ACCIDENTAL SIRE is a truly fantastic addition to the Half-Moon Hollow series that I thoroughly enjoyed! Fans of the series won't want to miss this hilarious new installment!

Sass, snark, and yummy undead goodness, Molly Harper does it again!

Here’s what’s going on: Ben Overby’s used to the eclectic residents of Half-Moon Hollow and the shenanigans they get up to. But when Meagan, his girlfriend, is changed into vampire after a freak Ultimate Frisbee accident and rises quicker than normal and changes him into a member of the undead with a single bite, there’s a whole new level of weird he has to figure out. And Meagan, well let’s just say she’s out of her depth. She’s figuring out how to allow herself to be accepted into the strange but loving Half-Moon Hollow family, she’s also dealing with being a new breed of vampire, accidentally siring her first childe (which happens to be her boyfriend) and figuring out how to deal with her feelings towards said boyfriend who is a little cranky at being turned.

I always enjoy being back in the weird and wonderful world of Half-Moon Hollow. I’m never really sure what the residents will be up to but I know it’s going to be entertaining and The Accidental Sire did not disappoint.

Meagan first made an appearance in Big Vamp on Campus and I was curious to learn more about her. I really liked Meagan. After the death of her mother, she was bounced around from foster home to foster home and she doesn’t really know where she fits in and if she can trust those who claim to care for her so when she becomes a foster-vampire in the Jameson-Nightengale household, she’s not sure if she can really trust Jane and her brood. She’s also trying to work through her feelings towards Ben.

I’ve always liked Ben. If you’ve read this series, you’ll know that Ben is Gigi’s ex, so he’s been around for a bit. He’s always been one of the humans in Jane’s crazy paranormal world and now that’s he a vampire, he’s trying to figure out how to navigate this world.

The romance was a bit slow and it worked. They had things that had to work out and Meagan had some trust issues she needed to deal with but I was really pleased with how sweet and realistic it was.

There’s also a slight suspense element thrown in.

What I really enjoyed was seeing the Half-Moon Hollow gang again. It was so nice to see more of Jane and Gabriel now that they are sort of raising Georgie. Although I do have to say, it’s a little weird seeing Ophelia acting all nice and normal.

On a sidenote, I would really like to see a short story about Jane and Gabriel raising Georgie.

So, while this is part of an on-going series, you don’t have to read the entire series. I would, however, recommend reading Big Vamp on Campus, the prequel to this book to get a better understanding of the characters.

Overall, this was another great installment in the series and I devoured this book in one sitting.

Even though this is the 14th book in the series, I still can't get enough of Half-Moon Hollow! The characters are quirky and well fleshed out. Each story adds to the series and examines a character as they fall in love. This installment centers on Ben!!! He finally gets his own happy ending. We meet Meagan, who opens a whole new can of worms on the vampire council. Suddenly, Jane has her hands full yet again, trying to navigate a messy situation with Ben and Meagan. Accidental Sire is funny, romantic, and heartwarming as new family members join. Five glittery stars for this new series addition!

I want to live in Half-Moon Hollow, so badly!

I love when Molly Harper presents us with another novel in this delightful city/world. Accidental Sire is a joy and pleasure to read. Seeing the characters I have come to love show up was the best part of Accidental Sire for me.

The romance in this new Half-Moon Hollow installment was just ok. I have always liked Ben whe I saw him in previous books and I absolutely loved Megan, I thought she is an awesome addition to the series. Megan and Jane's relationship was another highlight for me and I would have been totally ok if that was all this story was. A story of this young girl finding herself in this paranormal world by accident and totally crushing it.

However, this is a paranormal romance and its weakest link is Ben. Ben was an absolute jerk for most of Accidental Sire and by the time he and Megan were ready to be together I couldn't help but wish she would find someone else, because I totally think she deserved better.

Yes, I admit, Ben did get better in the end. I just think it was too close of not being too little to late. I am happy that they are happy, though LOL.

All in all Accidental Sire is as awesome paranormal adventure with an ok romance, but that is enough to make for a great addition to the Half-Moon Hollow series, one of my fave series ever!

I want more!

Favorite Quote: “We were betrayed by Post-its.”

Fans of Molly Harper will cheer with laughter at the 6th installment in her delightfully outrageous Half Moon Hollow series as she brings Jane Jamison nee Nightingale back front and center when two college students are turned into vampires. Jane is forced to take them under her wing and roof when the events surrounding their turning and abilities come to the attention of the Council and they want answers or else.

First off, I’d like to say the blurb for this book is a bit misleading, but that’s okay because what really happens is far more entertaining. While this can be read as a standalone; the arc is new and the conflict resolves internally, I wouldn’t recommend it. There is a large character base in this series and they pop in and out of the storyline along with references to previous situations at random.

Meagan Keene, a student at the University of KY and friends with Ophelia Lambert, just wanted to get to know the very handsome and sexy Ben Overby better. When they meet up at a party and make plans to see each other again real soon, she didn’t expect it to be 24 hours later, after she is killed in a freak ultimate frisbee accident and turned into a vampire. A very special hybrid vampire who is breaking all the normal vampire rules and freaking everyone out. Then she accidentally turns Ben into a vampire, all hell breaks loose, and she and Ben are swept up and spirited away to Half Moon Hollow, KY so they can be watched over and studied by Jane until she deems them safe for society.

“I know it’s a lot to take in,” Jane told me. “And I’m sorry, but you don’t have a lot of time to mull it over. Also not much choice. It’s pretty much a ‘come quietly or I involve zip ties’ situation.”

Molly Harper’s energetic and zany adventures are the perfect escapism for those who enjoy a strong balance of romance and comedy. From her contemporaries to her paranormals, Harper’s rich and engaging imagination lets loose with her eclectic character, comedic plot lines, and whip smart narrative. Accidental Sire introduces a few new characters and plot thread while bringing us up to speed on past situations and couples. The straightforward storyline along with its invigorating dialogue makes for a fast fun read.

Meagan is Jane Jamison part deux. Her snarky wit, suspicious nature, and expressive inner monologue makes her officially one of my top favorite heroines in this series. Orphaned at a young age, Meagan was raised in foster care which resulted in her inability to form long lasting attachments. Her parents’ deaths and her frequent moves from home to home taught her that everyone leaves her eventually. Regardless of her tragic childhood, she has a created a pseudo family of sorts at college with her besties and maintains a strong sense of self, confidence, and motivation.

Ben Overby is a sweetie. Smart, attractive, and good natured, he is every mama’s dream for their daughter. Dumped by his childhood girlfriend, Gigi from The Dangers of Dating A Rebound Vampire, #3, when he asked her to marry him, Ben escaped the humiliation by going to U of KY and meets Meagan. He never had a desire to be a vampire so his turning is a shock and he doesn’t take it well.

“I had a life before you bit me. I had plans. And they didn’t involve being turned into a vampire. This is not supposed to me be me, OK? I’m the Stiles. I’m the powerless, normal human who sits on the sidelines and watches the people with the superpowers do their thing, and then I help clean up the mess.”

The slow evolution of Meagan and Ben’s relationship is a delightful journey filled with antagonism, humor, sarcasm, and some internal sexual longing. Ben is angry with Meagan for turning him against his will though it was through no fault of her own. He spends a majority of the story alternating between his anger and his attraction to her. Their romance burns very slow but gains ground as they begin to accept their new life.

“I’m not saying I’m crazy in love with you or making a doll out of the hair you leave in the drain or anything. But strong ‘liking you’ feelings, like thinking about you all the time.”

Harper does a fabulous job of balancing the internal conflicts Meagan is dealing with being a vampire, her potential boyfriend/childe hating her, being locked out of social media- with the external conflict of a crazy Council scientist who’s determined to crack her’s and Ben’s genetic code. Through any means necessary. Harper uses the time spent at Jane’s to help crack Meagan’s shell and allow her to bond and accept her new vampire family though the ride is a little bumpy.

She put her hand on my shoulder, gave it a squeeze. “I know you think I’ve been a bit of a bitch through this whole process.”

“Because I’ve actually thought, ‘Wow, Jane’s being a little bit of a bitch right now,’ and you read my mind?”

“Yes, and in some ways, you’ve been right. I’ve had to be a bitch. I don’t like it. But that’s my job with the Council. I’m doing what I can to make like easier for vampires without committing overt acts of evil as was the Council’s usual way. And if I have to be kind of mean to keep you safe, so be it. But I do understand what it’s like to have friends who mean more than family could. And I hope someday you start to include some of us in that little circle.”

Of course, no Half Moon Hollow story would be complete without getting up close and personal with some of its residents. This rambunctious and quirky cast-from Ophelia’s little sister Georgie whose creepiness is at a level all its own to Jeb the shape-shifting shark to Jane’s bestie and his redneck werewolf wife-will leave you howling as Meagan absorbs her first real experience with a full supernatural community. Jane’s strong presence in here reminded me of all the fun and laughter I had reading the original Jane Jamison series. I loved seeing Jane and her ever irritating sidekick Dick working together again as Jane rushes in to save her ‘kids’ from the evil scientist and show Meagan that she does indeed matter.

Jane threw her arms around me in a bear hug. “I know this is not your fault but please don’t do that to me again,” she whispered into my hair.

“I will do my best not to get abducted by a mad scientist a third time.”

“See that you don’t.”

I highly recommend picking up Molly Harper’s newest Half Moon Hollow adventure-Accidental sire- if you like your PNRs witty, energetic, and heartfelt.

Molly Harper is hilarious, which makes her books a real treat. When an ultimate frisbee match goes terribly wrong, Meagan and her crush, Ben both end up vampires - with a difference. They now have to juggle their newbie vampire training, while figuring out who is out to get them. I always enjoy Harper's novels; they're fun, fast reads that are perfect for beach reading.

Goofy, snarky chick-lit that is the literary equivalent of a marshmallow-covered hot chocolate.

Meagan meets Ben at a college party, and what seems at first like a typical meet-cute turns unexpectedly tragic. In the aftermath, Meagan and Ben are vampires, and find themselves cloistered away by a quirky crew of veteran vampires intent on training them to behave in the midst of their new talents and urges. The cast of characters is quirky and heartwarming, including Jane, a children's librarian-turned-vampire boss, the inexplicably-named Dick Cheney, Jed, a man who occasionally turns into a land shark when stressed, and a kind but homicidal immortal child named Georgie, to name a few.

Obviously, there's a sinister plot that needs to be solved, family bonding, personal growth, falling in love, etc.

I'm generally not a fan of romance, but the romance in this series isn't too overwhelming.

It's a quick read, and this author remains one of my favorite guilty pleasures.

This is actually the first Molly Harper book I've read, and I did enjoy it, though I am sure I would have enjoyed it much more if I had read the other books in the series previously, just so I would be familiar with some of the other characters in the book. Nonetheless, I did find the story humorous and enjoyed getting to know Ben and Megan. They are both recently turned vampires, and they are a different type of vampire, which makes it even more necessary that they be under close observation. The first part of the book more or less deals with the their transition, while as the story progresses, a little more mystery is involved.

Accidental Sire is a fun book, but again, I would recommend reading the prior books in the series as I really felt like I was missing out by not being familiar with some of the characters that were obviously very important players in the previous novels. Fans of he series will no doubt enjoy this well written addition to the Half-Moon Hollow series by Molly Harper.

Accidental Sire by Molly Harper is the latest delightful installment in A Half-Moon Hollow series. Meghan Keene is an undergrad at the University of Kentucky. She is enjoying a mixer (human/vampire) party hosted by Ophelia Lambert (as a punishment) and meets Ben Overby. They enjoy a lovely evening, kiss goodnight and then Meghan is hit with a 45lb. dumbbell on her way back inside her dorm (vampires were playing Ultimate Frisbee). Thankfully, Meghan signed the consent form to be turned in case of emergency. A volunteer sire is quickly obtained and Meghan is turned. When Meghan wakes up, Ben is in her room (you just know this is not going to end well). A thirsty Meghan takes a little “sip” (he gave permission) and then Ben collapses. Jane Jameson-Nightengale is summoned, and she whisks the pair away to Half-Moon Hollow. Open Accidental Sire for another fun adventure with Jane, Gabriel, Ophelia, Dick, Georgie and friends.

Accidental Sire is an amusing and engaging novel. I was pulled into the story from the very beginning (and I did not pop out until I finished the last word). I did not want Accidental Sire to conclude. I giggled, chuckled, and outright laughed while reading this paranormal mystery novel (there are some great one-liners and plenty of snark). Accidental Sire is well-written, easy to read, and has a fast pace. I appreciated that Ms. Harper has given us a new vampire with unique traits (spoilers). If you have not had the pleasure of reading A Half-Moon Hollow Novel previously, I do not suggest you start with Accidental Sire. I can guarantee you will be lost. While Accidental Sire focuses on Ben’s story, characters from the previous novels are present (actually, all of them including creepy Georgie). Their lives and stories have been told in the previous books in the series (which are equally delightful). I am rating Accidental Sire 5 out of 5 stars (I loved it). I especially liked that readers have had the opportunity to see these original characters grow and develop over the course of the series (fourteen books approximately). The biggest change has happened to Jane. It is amazing to see how far Jane has come since Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs. At the beginning of reach chapter are tips on how to raise an “unplanned vampire” (humorous). Accidental Sire has romance, suspense, a unicorn room, mystery, vampires, werewolves, humor, and so much more. I wish there were more books like this one.

As always a homerun by Molly Harper!! I loved this book along with the rest of this series and I hope to keep reading more!

In ACCIDENTAL SIRE, Harper brings the Half Moon Hollow series back to Half Moon Hollow, and with it, brings in many favorite characters from throughout the series, with nearly everybody making at least a small cameo. I wouldn't say that the description of the book is completely accurate, though, as it makes it sound like Ben is the focus, not even mentioning Megan, the main character of the book (the one who accidentally gets turned into a vampire).

First of all, Ben and Megan aren't even boyfriend and girlfriend when she gets turned (and this is in the first 30 pages of the book, so no spoilers here). They'd just met at a party and chatted a bit. The first half of the book is mostly dealing with the consequences that come from being turned, and then the second half deals with a relatively lukewarm mystery that I could have done without.

Ben and Megan are cute together. Despite the circumstances which have thrown them together, and their love/hate vibe, they have excellent chemistry. If the whole book had focused on the growth of their relationship and Megan getting used to being a vampire, it would have been fine. Harper is great with the snarky zingers and the dialogue between the characters is amusing without sounding too scripted. My complaint is with the half-hearted mystery aspect that was brought in to the second half. Sure, it gave the whole thing a bit of suspense, but it felt like it was thrown in there to make the book longer. I liked the added interesting aspect, but all in all, I didn't feel it was necessary.

Overall, ACCIDENTAL SIRE made me want to go back and read all the Jane Jameson and Half Moon Hollow books, and I really enjoyed myself. While it isn't as good as my favorite in the series (THE CARE AND FEEDING OF STRAY VAMPIRES, and at a close second, DRIVING MR. DEAD) it still is nowhere near the level of THE SINGLE UNDEAD MOMS CLUB. So, if you like Harper's writing and you like the Half Moon Hollow crowd, definitely pick this one up.

ACCIDENTAL SIRE is the sixth full-length installment in Molly Harper’s contemporary, adult HALF-MOON HOLLOW paranormal, romantic comedy series-a spin off from her Jane Jameson series. This is Ben Overby, and Meagan Keene’s story line. ACCIDENTAL SIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty although I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion, backstory and the characters’ histories.

Told from first person point of view (Meagan Keene) ACCIDENTAL SIRE follows the unconventional human death and vampire re-birth of University of Kentucky co-eds Meagan Keene and Ben Overby. Following a freak Ultimate Frisbee accident Meagan lay on the verge of death and the only possibility of survival was through a vampire turning. But only twenty-four hours would pass, unlike the usual seventy-two, wherein our story line heroine would wake up a more powerful and hybrid version of the ‘normal’ vampire. What ensues is the accidental turning of Ben Overby, and the search for the person responsible for the new breed of vampire with above average abilities.

As new vampires, Ben and Meagan will fall under the guidance of Jane Jameson-Nightingale, leader of the local chapter of the World Council for the Equal Treatment of the Undead, and a powerful vampire in her own right. Locked down and treated like fledglings just out of the nest, Ben and Meaghan struggle within the confines of the vampire rules and newbie regulations. But someone wants Meaghan and Ben for nefarious purposes, and on more than one occasion our leading couple find themselves caught up in someone else’s plans.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including many of the previous story line couples, as well as a number of couples from the author’s Jane Jameson series. Meagan is introduced to a world of vampires, shifters and werewolves, as well as a plethora of information about her new life as a supernatural creature of the night.

ACCIDENTAL SIRE is a story of family and friendship, and the struggle for two young people to acclimate into the world of the supernatural. Molly Harper weaves humor, fun, romance and conflict into a paranormal story line where creating the ultimate vampire is akin to creating a more perfect human being. The premise is entertaining and enjoyable; the characters are colorful, energetic and sassy; the romance is sweet, sexy but mostly implied. Molly Harper’s ACCIDENTAL SIRE is a heartwarming story that will captivate your attention with its’ lighthearted look at the supernatural.

This series is definitely one where you need to read one or two earlier books before diving onto this ebook. Many of the cast and crew do cross over and you can get very lost and not enjoy the book as much should you read this as a stand-alone. In fact, it took me a chapter or two to fully get back into the neighborhood.

What is great about the author’s writing is that she does try to remind and tell you about the relationships within the course of the story. Once I remembered everything, the book really took off.

Fun and quirky, with plenty of sarcasm and humor, this book is a delightful read! The plot is a whirlwind but oh so good. I always end with a smile of my face, with great anticipation for the next book!

If you enjoy a fun paranormal story about vampires that is like non-other, you have to try the series! I became a Molly Harper fan from reading the Half-Moon Hollow books and this new release is a fabulous addition!

Another book in the Half Moon Hollow Series. I have read several in this series but not all. Meagan is a normal young college student who meets her Mr. Right. Unfortunately, after their meeting, she is accidentally killed in a freak vampire accident. Or was it? What follows is an accidental siring, super special vampires, hilarity, and mayhem. This book was very funny and had lots of snark. This is the norm for this series, which made it very easy to read, and a pleasure to read. However, as with many books I've read, the pressure to make it a certain length leas to a lot of filler writing. The book meanders in places and the ending seems rushed. The explanation of the creation of 'special vampires' is never really answered. My thought is that is future books, there full capabilities will be revealed. Entertaining book.
