Turbo Twenty-three by Janet Evanovich.
Larry Virgil skipped out on his latest court date after he was arrested for hijacking an eighteen-wheeler full of premium bourbon. Fortunately for bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, Larry is just stupid enough to attempt almost the exact same crime again. Only this time he flees the scene, leaving behind a freezer truck loaded with Bogart ice cream and a dead body—frozen solid and covered in chocolate and chopped pecans.
As fate would have it, Stephanie’s mentor and occasional employer, Ranger, needs her to go undercover at the Bogart factory to find out who’s putting their employees on ice and sabotaging the business. It’s going to be hard for Stephanie to keep her hands off all that ice cream, and even harder for her to keep her hands off Ranger. It’s also going to be hard to explain to Trenton’s hottest cop, Joe Morelli, why she is spending late nights with Ranger, late nights with Lula and Randy Briggs—who are naked and afraid—and late nights keeping tabs on Grandma Mazur and her new fella. Stephanie Plum has a lot on her plate, but for a girl who claims to have “virtually no marketable skills,” these are the kinds of sweet assignments she does best.
I really enjoyed this book. The story characters. Stephanie Morelli I loved Lula. She made me laugh with the things she did. Looking forward to reading more from this author. 5*.

Thanks to Netgalley and Headline for giving me this book to review.

Another romp through the crazy life of Bounty Hunter and all-round klutz, Stephanie Plumb. Her latest adventure involves working undercover at an ice cream factory, finding dead bodies, and being undecided between her two romantic partners, as usual. She is aided and abetted in this by her friend and colleague, Lula, and her slightly dysfunctional family, especially Grandma Mazur.

The plot is not very complicated, and the whole book is very light and easy to read, and provides many a smile, so long as you don’t take it too seriously. The humour is quite slapstick in nature, and there is always the opportunity to smile and marvel at the chaos that is Stephanie’s life. The characters in this book are, as usual, larger than life, and not always based in reality, but if you wanted realism, you would not choose to read this series of books.

My favourite character, is, and always has been, Grandma Mazur. I love the fact that she’s reached the age and attitude where she doesn’t care about anything, is willing to try everything, and is afraid of nothing. She has buckets of self-confidence and I hope I am as feisty as she is when I get older.

I enjoyed Turbo 23 and would recommend it to people who have enjoyed other Janet Evanovitch novels, or those who like light comedy/crime novels.

I absolutely love Stephanie Plum and all her friends. Janet Evanovich done well again. i feel like i'm inside the book with Stephanie following her around when she's deciding on whether she's Team Ranger or Team Morelli. loved it.

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy for review.

This is your typical Stephanie Plum book, nothing new or interesting happens in it just the usual chaos and weirdness, combined with occasional elements of romance. This time it all hinges on Stephanie finding a frozen dead body, which has been dipped in chocolate and nuts to replicate a Bogart Bar, in a freezer truck.

I enjoyed this book but it's not something i would ever buy at full price in hardback. I love reading these as they come out but i do tend to borrow them from the library or purchase as a paperback. Basically they are all very similar to each other and not especially long so it would be a waste of money to purchase the hardcover unless you're collecting them. I will keep reading this series if only for the comfort they bring, nothing truly bad happens to the main characters and there is a lot of food described in the books which i enjoy reading about!

Overall it's another Stephanie Plum! What can you say apart from how old is that hamster!

Maybe this isn't her best but I found this obvious and even a little cliched - I know she's a bestseller but this story of a bail enforcer and her 'ho friend who drinks, drives too recklessly (haha a woman has difficulty managing a truck) and our main narrator is gorgeous and tough and has two sexist boyfriends who compete for her .. well, it is really just me but this isn't top entertainment - a bit old fashioned in its way...
