I read this book back in 2017 and made a couple of notes and then life got in the way (a horrid promotion = thankfully temporary), my mother's heart attack and my Mother in Law's death. It rather slipped my mind to review the book. later I looked but couldn't see it on Goodreads so assumed I'd not reviewed it.

But at some point in that horrible time I must have dropped a comment to Goodreads because today as I was scrolling through my read books, I saw that I had left a review that simply said:

"A great summer read. Great mix of friends."

Thanks to Netgalley and the authors for a digital copy to review.

I no longer have the book to re-read but I've added it to my wish list...

This isn't just about four friends- although that's where the charm lies- it's also about the abuse of public trust. Are women dying due to the weight loss drug? How does this relate to the friends who met years ago? This has maybe one theme too many but I was intrigued.

Sad story, reminiscent of the fen phen issues years ago, however this touches a group of friends personally. The pharmaceutical side of this seemed forced, but all in all, a good beach read!

I am glad I stuck it out with this book, because I almost gave up on it a few times. It took a while for the story to hook me in, but the book gets better halfway through.

The story about the women and what happens after one of them is found dead has its ups and downs. It is a slow-moving book at times so it becomes a little tedious, but it does get better.

Not my usual type of book but nonetheless I enjoyed it. Following the lives of the four main characters was great and their complicated lives were turned upside down by the death of one of them by a slimming drug. Took me longer than usual to read but maybe just as it was a different book to my usual

This book is the slowest moving book ever I really thought that it was going to be a great book.I just wish this book was all I made it too be in my head but I really thought it to be boring and hard to finish. Netgalley review

I did not finish this book. I found it to be lackluster and rather dull.

I enjoyed the book. The characters were a little flat, however. I found it hard to connect with any of them.

Four women meet at university and become close friends. The story starts with the death of one of them and subsequently delves into the back stories of all four of them.
It's difficult for me to write this review, because none of the characters are particularly likeable, some are likely sociopaths and others experts in making ridiculous choices.
But...I couldn't stop reading the book; yes, it was uneven and hard to believe some parts, yet it was enjoyable and fun.
The ending might suggest a follow-up and I would definitely read it.
Thank you Netgalley, Matador and Elizabeth Harrison for the ARC.
