here is no way around this one without simply stating- this is a strange collection of short stories. Sometimes book covers can fool us, but when it comes to this book, the cover does not lie.

Each story looks at the absurdness of life with a twist even. Stories include an editor that just rips into his staff while he focuses on editing a book that probably few will read. We have a story of a woman who adds pages to a book while the author of the book looks on. These are some great stories that come completely from left field.

The author has great talent, but like all short story collections some hit and some miss and I think it depends on the mood or the day which ones will do what. I found a bunch of them hit rather than missed, but it took a bit to figure out what the story was about.

From both the title and the cover, I assumed this would be a book of FUNNY short stories.

It wasn't. Its just a collection of short stories from an author I hadn't heard of before. I read the first story and a half, was entirely uninterested, and barely remember what I read now. It is more literary fiction / adult fiction than anything, two genres I don't really enjoy.

Others have given it good reviews, and it has a pretty decent rating on Goodreads, so if you like short stories of those genres you may like it, it just wan't for me.

Weird, amusing stories that left me feeling a little empty

This is a collection of weird and somewhat amusing short stories. The stories were charming to a certain degree, but I also found them pointless. After reading most of the stories, I didn't feel I had gained anything by having read them. The stories weren't unpleasant to read, they just offered no insight. I did like Fergus Ninnane’s easy writing style however and some are fun to read.

Great book! I lover short stories, especially the quirkier ones. And this one does not disappoint in THAT department; too, too funny! Loved the spitting coach! So unexpected and original! Highly recommend. Cover is priceless.
