This book was a pleasant surprise. At first I really wasn't interested in reading it as it was marketed as a western romance and all I could picture was old western movies. On the recommendation of a trusted reading buddy, I decided to give it a chance and ended up loving it. I would recommend this book to all fans of contemporary romance with a Texas twist!

I couldn't finish this book. I have it 3 months and I just couldn't.

I didn't connect with the characters. They sounded very winny to me and very immature.

Great characters, I loved the beginning and although it slowed down a bit as the story continued it left me excited to see more about Maverick and Leighton!

Going into Lost Rider, I didn’t know that I would love it as much as I did. I’ve love Harper Sloan’s books in the past, and this was no different. I don’t read many cowboy romances, but this one was great.

The last time Maverick and Leighton saw each other it didn’t end well. Now Maverick is back and town and it’s time for them to deal with the feelings they still have for each other.

I enjoyed reading this story and the journey these took to get back to each other. I don’t always enjoy second chance romances, but this one was done very well. I understood why Leighton felt the way she did and didn’t want to jump into something with Maverick. I liked to see them fall for each other finally after all they’ve been through in the past.

I loved this beginning to a new series by Harper Sloan. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series! -Leah, 5 stars

I feel like this review should just be Harper Sloan new release. Enough said.

But apparently not.

The blurb for this book really didn’t do the story the slightest bit of justice. I went into it not expecting to like Maverick very much. I had this idea of how he broke Leigh’s heart and who I thought he might be and I was so far off the mark.

Leigh and Maverick have known each other their whole lives and Leigh has loved him from before she even knew what it was. But Maverick broke her heart and left town without a backward glance. Now ten years later he returns and we find out why he left and felt he had to break her heart in the process.

And I have to say my heart broke for him. I completely loved him and I forgave him immediately for everything. Luckily Leigh was so strong and kick arse she not only forgave him but helped him come to terms with his past and work towards a beautiful future.

As with all of Harper Sloan’s men Maverick was the perfect alpha with a massive dose of caring, sensitive, sweet guy. And he was seriously amazing. Watching him set out to right all of his mistakes and make up for the heartbreak he caused Leigh was awesome. They were the perfect couple. And of course there was a whole heap of smoking hot sex and sizzling chemistry.

And getting to know the secondary characters has got me dying to read Quinn’s book.

4 ‘Head. Over. Boots.’ Stars!

Harper Sloan is one of my favorite authors ever. So you can imagine this girl’s excitement levels when she got an advanced copy of the first book in Harper’s newest series! I am sure many of you know how good this woman is with military man, musicians and now.. heck yes, cowboys!

Lost Rider is the first installment of Harper’s Coming Home series which will focus on the love stories about the Davis siblings. This one is about Maverick (a rodeo star who has been forced to stop riding and now is coming back to the place he escaped from ten years ago) and Leighton (the woman who got her heart broken by said cowboy and now does not know how to trust him again).

Leighton James isn’t a woman that you can have and let go.

I might be off the circuit, but I’m gearing up for the ride of my life.

I adore second chance romances and Lost Rider was no exception! Harper wrote a fantastic western love story full of banter, sentiments and lots of sexy times! I do have to say, I had a hard time connecting with the characters at first (I don’t know exactly why lol) but now all of them have definitely stolen my heart! I loved how the story developed and also how the sparks between the MCs flew everywhere!

He’s stronger.
I’m stronger.
Together I just know we’ll be unbreakable.
This, right here and now, is our time.

“Get up here and fuckin’ show your cowboy how you ride.”

I mean.. if you have read anything by Harper Sloan you know she does write some of the best alphas out there and she did not fail with Maverick! This cowboy is (obviously) SO hot and swoony! The chemistry between the couple is scorching and who complains when you get all the feels from the very beginning? Not this lady! I really enjoyed this love story and I can’t wait to read Quinn and Clay’s books!

“Honey, all I did was love you.”
“And that love saved me.”

Therefore, I am rating Lost Rider with 4 STARS because it was such a funny, emotional and entertaining read that I practically devoured it. Maverick and Leighton were a great couple and I really enjoyed their interactions with all the other characters. I am so excited to know more about them. Definitely check this one out if you love Harper and you want a new hot cowboy in your life!

The book was a lot of black and forth. For me, it didnt work for this book.

Lost Rider was a cutish read. Maverick left town ten years ago after crushing the love of his life to become a rider. After one injury, too many Maverick has nothing left. Then he gets a call that his father is dead and he comes home.

Leigh has been in love with Maverick since she could remember, even after he broke her heart all those years ago. Now he’s back and she doesn’t know how to cope.

Lost Rider was kind of meh to me to be honest. I didn’t enjoy the character and the story dragged out unnecessarily. I have mad love for the cover though.

What a Beautiful start to a new series by Harper Sloan. This book is different on so many levels and I'm so excited to see how her Readers feel about this book.

This story is all about how lies and hate can destroy lives. What happens when a monster has kids. Most importantly it shows the Beautiful Magical Powers of Love, Forgiveness and understanding.

A second chance love story Definitely but one like no other. I loved and Adored the main Characters Leighton and Maverick. They are really what true love should look like. Their love was electrifying and potent. The power of it was proven even when they were apart from each other. These two were born to be with each other and watching them fight for their future was the best thing ever.

Lost Rider is also about the strength of Siblings and love from them. Blood means nothing when you have ppl love you for who you are and not who ur parent is. This book is definitely sad at times, but also plenty LOL moments, Amazing Dialogue and Captivating Banter. The sex scenes were I Need A Cold Shower kinda Hot.....

I can't wait to see who's books are next and watch all of these Gorgeous Characters heal and find their own HEA.....

Grab this book... It will give you the best and worst kinda chills.
Enjoy!!!! .

It really was an amazing love story and Maverick and Leighton stole my heart. This Coming Home series, with this incredible first installment, went straight to my favorite series, and after the glimpse we had of the rest of the Davis siblings, and fantastic setting, and story development, I can’t wait to see what Harper gives us next with Kiss My Boots, Quinn’s story!

Saddle up readers, there’s a new western romance writer in town and her name is Harper Sloan. Loaded with emotion, sweet and sexy, a bit of conflict, intriguing characters, and a whole lot of down home Texas charm, Lost Rider is a fantastic start to this new series.

For most of his life all Maverick Austin Davis could think about was leaving Pine Oak, Texas and his abusive father and being a bull riding champion. Ten years later he is headed back, many championships under his many winning buckles, a broken body, and the man that raised him after his mother took off dead and about to be buried. I’ll be flat out honest and say in the first two chapters I was worried if I was going to be able to make it through this book, Maverick was a complete and total a$$ and I wanted to kick him from one side of the state to the other, but Ms. Sloan smoothed out his rough edges, gave us all the information we needed to understand him, and showed us that underneath the hard shell he built around himself was a true gentleman cowboy.

Leighton Elizabeth James can’t remember a time in her life when she wasn’t in love with Maverick up until he right before he left town and he completely shattered her tender sixteen year old heart with his ugly words and his cold heart. Ten years later she’d like to say she is over him completely and totally, but when he arrives back in town for his father’s funeral, she realizes that despite how mad he makes her and the hurt she still feels deep in her heart, she also can’t deny a piece of her still loves that young man from years ago.

Harper Sloan has written a fantastic, sweet but sensual contemporary romance that knocked my boots off. I loved everything about this book; all the characters were intriguing and had so many layers to them, the story moved at a believable pace, I felt the emotions of these characters to my bones, and the conflict between the two main characters to get back the friendship and love these two once shared was just enough to keep it interesting and not so much I got frustrated with them.

I loved that the men in this story both Maverick and his big brother Clay are alpha males, but they have a sensitive side. Abandoned by their mother at a young age and raised along with their younger sister, Quinn, they were raised with by an abusive father who went to extremes to make Maverick’s life even worse when he announced he planned to become a bullrider. The siblings maintained a bond even with Maverick staying gone for ten years and now with a career ending injury and their father dead, he is home to make a life for himself and to make amends with the one person he never wanted to hurt but knows he did deeply.

Lost Rider is an exciting start to this series and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Sloan has in store for the rest of the Davis siblings!

Another truly WILD ride from Harper Sloan. She took a tale you think you’ve read, and delivered a bucking plot that has you fanning yourself on some pages and having ALL THE FEELS on others. I realize that is totally hipster speak, but when it comes to a Sloan novel, I know she is going to bring the emotion like no other can and in a way that it hits you like a ton of bricks.

Man is back from his own year career and his home town hasn’t changed a bit. Or so he thinks. A man carrying ten years of regret and history on his shoulders. A man who had to say goodbye tot he one thing he knows brought him joy to come home and start a new life in a place that hunts his every thought.

Also, aside from the GREAT second chance love that he gets upon his homecoming, can I just mention how GORGEOUS this character is? Inside (Once you get to know him) and out this character is all around great. His is stubborn and alpha and also has him moments. He is a hot head and a passionate man that will fight for what he wants. I loved him as our guy in this book.

Then we had Leigh. Gosh she was a hoot. Not only was she a girl that spoke her mind, but she was a girl that thoroughly thought things out. She was a girl who made up her mind and went for it. But a girl who had all the heart. I hurt for her in this book and I was right there with her in her struggles.

This story was beautiful. It was about finding love and believing in second chances. A story about going for what you want and shaping life to what you need.

Plus, I can’t WAIT for the stories for C and Q, because we NEED them!

Have you ever picked up a book and just known you were going to love it? No? Yes? Well, Lost Rider was just that type of book for me. I’ve been a fan of Ms. Harper’s work for quite a while now so this was an instant one-click for me. From the moment a pie flew into Maverick’s face, I was hooked. Sloan as this ability to weave in humor to heartfelt and emotional scenes in her books. Lost Rider is no different. It’s underlying dark tones of the Davis Family closet of skeletons is perfectly balanced with the light humor throughout the book.

Just like Leighton, I was head over boots for Maverick. Even though he made a misguided young man move before getting out of dodge, his heart was always back in Texas with her. No matter how hard he tried to ride away his feelings for her. And, the same went for Leighton. Love has a funny way of enduring the most painful words and long distances when it’s real, true love. It’s stories like these that give anyone hope that someday lost love will come back to us.

Lost Rider is a heartfelt, emotional ride on the back of the world’s largest and meanest bull. Sure the bumps and bucks are hard to get through, but at the end of that eight seconds ride, it’s all worth the pain. Perfect start to an amazing series to come.

Loved this book! Maverick left his home as soon as he graduated... But he just didn't leave he broke Leighton's heart first...
But now he's back. He has buried his father, but now the ghosts of his past. But he also needs to allow himself to heal and help his siblings heal too.
Leighton was there when Mav wasn't... His siblings were there to help her when her parents passed away and helped her get over the broken heart she was left with when Maverick bolted after his graduation. Now he's back and with him came the past hurt he created.
Sparks start to fly when the undeniable chemistry between them is allowed to burn... Will it destroy them both? Will it be everything Leighton thought it would have been 10 yrs ago?
This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster but you wont be able to put it down.... You may even want to go and find yourself a hot Cowboy!

The first half of this book flew by for me. I was completely captivated with the story-line. Once I hit about the halfway mark, everything seemed to have been resolved and I found that it couldn't keep my interest. I enjoyed the writing itself but ended up stopping the book at about 65%.

As this is one of my favorite romantic themes, I had high hopes. In the end, I liked the story and found it entertaining, I just didn't love it. Maverick was kind of hard to like in the beginning. But as his story came out about what he went through as a kid and his reasons for hurting Leigh, I began to like him more. I liked that he was able to own up to his wrong doings and his willingness to make amends. He was a dumb 18 YO when he left, so I could see how he was a bit misguided. Leigh had to grow on me as well. The way she had to over analyze everything drove me nuts. I loved their HEA. It was very sweet.

As I said, I thought it was entertaining and worth giving a try. I do want to read Quinn story next in Kiss My Boots coming out in August.
