A great story of how family's interact. Each person has her own story to tell yet they all come together in one town. There is a good feeling of place in this book. You feel that you can smell the sea and feel the sand on your feet. Good expression of how family's help each other through good times and bad.

Not for me. I didn't feel sufficient connection to the characters or their plight.

Just couldn't get into the book. It didn't grab my attention at all.

I absolutely loved this book. I was so wrapped up in the lives of Ansley and her three daughters. All of them coming back home to live with her. Caroline, pregnant, with a nine year old daughter and a husband who is dating a supermodel on a reality TV show, no less. Sloane who has 2 young boys and whose husband is deployed overseas. And, last is Emerson who is the actress and the youngest who is filming a movie in Georgia near her mother's house. Emerson is also unmarried. So all the girls are back home again.

I read this book over a week ago and am still finding myself smiling and remembering these women and this book. I was not ready to let these characters go when I was finished with the story. The author did such a great job creating them. They truly felt like real people.

This was my first book by this author and it will not be my last.

Thanks to Gallery, Threshold Books for approving my request and to Net Galley for providing me with a free e-galley in exchange for an honest review.

From the clever title to the beautiful cover I had a feeling I was in for a treat. Slightly South of Simple has all the ingredients for my favorite kind of book. A storey of Sisters, family, grief, and navigating through our past. Super witty characters and fun dialogue. I am pleased to say I didn't roll my eyes once. Sure we have all read "Going Home" stories. They only get d if the characters aren't fresh. I promise you will enjoys this journey home to the South. I'd compare Kristy Woodsen Harvey to another three named author. You may have heard of Mary Alice Monroe?

I enjoyed reading Slightly South...and found the characters to be engaging. I was pulled into the story from the beginning & did not want it to end (thank goodness for a series!). I did feel that the ending was a bit rushed together & wondered if a chapter hadn't downloaded. Thank you!

Wow! This has got to be the best book I've read in a long time. Incidentally, I think a sequel could be a great idea since the characters are so well crafted. The reader feels as though we know them and we are left to wonder about what happens as they continue on in their lives. I'd love to hear the rest of the story. Having said that, I felt that the story of three sisters told by one sister and their mother's alternating perspectives was absolutely fantastic. If you pick up this book, you won't be disappointed! Kristy Woodson Harvey is now one of my favorite authors!

This was like reading a lifetime movie, an easy going assemblance of characters, interacting in a loving way. I since I have two sisters and a mother I could relate to many of the feelings and actions that were shared among them. The only part I didn't really like nor think it was necessary was the way the father of Caroline and Sloane came about. Just didn't seem realistic. Nevertheless it was an enjoyable read.

Slightly South of Simple is the story of sisters (Caroline, Sloane and Emerson) whose lives are a bit messy. They all head home to their mother (Ansley) who is an interior designer in a small coastal town. Ansley’s life changes overnight as she is put on constant, mom, grandma and daughter duty. Yes, her mother comes to stay as well. With that much family closeness you can imagine the possibilities for drama, etc. And there’s a big secret that weighs on Ansley’s mind. There are old boyfriends, a repentant husband, wacky neighbors and a lovely setting that made Slightly South of Simple a perfect beach read. Recommended to fans of Kristy Woodson Harvey and contemporary fiction. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book of the series.

I am so glad this book is a trilogy. The plot is extremely engaging with a setting that is somewhere I now want to go visit. The mother, Ansley, and her three daughters, Caroline, Sloane. and Emerson, are people you can connect with instantly. The family returns to their childhood home in Georgia to put their lives back together and end up rejuvenating their love for each other. The sisters' relationship was so well written that it made me sad that I grew up without any sisters. The support and care that they had for each other, even though they didn't always want to hear it, was beautiful. When is the next book coming out Kristy Woodson Harvey?

This story about a mother and her three daughters alternates between the point of view of the mother and the point of view of the oldest daughter. While some parts were predictable, other story developments I never saw coming which made for a good book. It would be interesting to hear the points of view of the other two daughters and to learn more about what happened to the characters after the book ends. I appreciate any book that keeps me thinking about the characters after it is over, and this is one of those books.

In SLIGHTLY SOUTH OF SIMPLE, Kristy Woodson Harvey has created a complete cast of characters that you root for. The story follows Ansley, whose three adult daughters come back to live with her in Peachtree while they get their lives on track. The pregnant daughter whose husband just announced he is leaving her. The wife of a deployed soldier with two small sons to raise. The actress who may have gotten too deep into her new acting gig. The three daughters are all at pivotal moments in their lives and they decide the best place to be is together and back home. And though a mother's life is always entwined with her children, Ansley has her own life in Peachtree, including a complicated relationship with her first love that has recently come back to town.

The narrator rotates each chapter between the mother and the oldest daughter, Caroline. I love how all of these women were in the same family yet approached life so differently. Ansley is written with such grace. Mothers keep secrets. Mothers do what is best for their children, no matter how hard. Mothers feel every bump and bruise that life gives their children as if they were their own. Mothers love greater than anything and sacrifice more than their children will ever understand. I loved the storylines of this novel and seriously hope there is a sequel as I want to know what happens next for the men and women in this family. Every single one of them.

I received an ARC of this novel from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

"Peachtree's motto is "A place to call home."" This book makes you feel like you are home. You know the town and all the people in it. Peachtree Bluff, Georgia is a small , quaint coastal town where Ansley lives. Her three daughters decide to spend a few months there as they are each dealing with something in their lives. Caroline's husband has left her, Sloane's husband is deployed and Emerson is filming a movie there. This book is exquisitely written and it brought me home again. It brought me to my childhood memories and my siblings. How that love never changes. I have so many wonderful memories of my childhood, as I am sure most of us do. You can go back home, always, it is where our memories are. This is a book about change. It is a book about loss, forgiveness and hope. Mostly it is a book about love. The love of family and of friends. The love of childhood memories. This book made me laugh out loud , but it also, at times, made me cry. It filled me up inside. It spoke to my soul. This book will grab you from the first page and not let you go. You will want to keep reading until you finish. It is that good. But please, savor every page, every single word. The characters are so developed, that they became real to me. I knew each and every person. I felt what they felt. I laughed when they laughed and cried when they cried. This is a wonderful read and I have many quotes that I loved. I would like to share a few, as they pertain to all of us on this journey called life. All of our lives are slightly south of simple, aren't they?
"In my life right now, perfectly imperfect seemed exactly right."
" I realized there were so many if onlys that sometimes it left out any space for the what could bes."
"Life was too short not to live by your own terms, not to make up your own rules."
I loved this book and I know that you will love it as well.

Kristy Woodson Harvey has done it again. It is so bittersweet that this is the first in a series. I finished it so fast, I just couldn't put it down and now I'll just have to be patient for the next. Slightly South of Simple is an amazing southern read, and oh, will it be worth the wait. Slightly South covers the current lives of three sisters and their devoted mom. The first in what I'm told will be a series, the dialogue for this first book goes back and forth between mom Ansley, and oldest daughter Caroline.
Lives are turned upside down and relationships are questioned as all three of Ansley's daughters come home to Peachtree, Georgia. Of course there will be drama when there are three sisters, but there is bond there that could never be broken. Slightly South of Simple is full of Southern charm and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next installment. Do yourselves a favor and preorder this now. You're going to be pulled right in.

A story of sisters and mothers, secrets, love, and the ties that bind and confound. Heartfelt and at times surprising, this is southern fiction at its finest.

"The tide always lent me serenity. It was constant, changeless. Every day it had its highs and its lows, but, like clockwork, it continued on. That was how I needed to be too. Sometimes low, sometimes high, but always steady."

Kristy Woodson Harvey weaves together a tale of three sisters and their mother, a story filled with heartache and worry, and the decisions these very different women face it all with. The characters were so incredibly relatable, it was easy to slip myself into any of their shoes. And I've never wanted to visit small town Georgia so badly!

Kristy is three for three with me, each book I read better than the last! She has a faithful fan in me!

If you are looking for the ultimate beach read for 2017, than this is the book for you!!!!! I can honestly say I enjoyed every single page in Slightly South of Simple!! This novel centers around Ansley, a 9/11 widow and her three daughters, Caroline, Sloane and Emerson. The ladies find themselves going through their own personal situations/transitions and as luck would have it, they've all decided to head home to Ansley's waterfront house in Peachtree Bluff, Georgia. Between her daughters and grandchildren, Ansley's house went from tranquil and relaxing to bustling and loud...and she loves every minute of it!! As the ladies get used to their "new normal" they remember what's most important in life...family!!!!

It's been awhile since I have been this excited about a new series!! I completely loved everything Kristy Woodson Harvey has dreamt us for us with this fantastic group of gals!! The storyline was well thought out and I felt the character development was on point (both main and supporting)!! I also fell in love with Peachtree Bluff-- picture Stars Hallow from Gilmore Girls meets Chinquapin Parish from Steel Magnolias!! Perfection!! I know I am repeating myself, but this is the ultimate beach read!! Slightly South of Simple is a 5++ star read that is a 2017 must read!! Go get it now, I promise you'll love it!!!

Aw, man. I want to move to Peachtree. I love Ansley, and Caroline and Emerson and Sloan and want to visit with them again. And again.

A family of four ladies, the mother, Ainsley and daughters Caroline, Emerson and Sloane. They are trying to heal in some form and family is the best way they know how. Everyone ends up back in Peachtree Bluff to repair and soothe their wayward lives.
This story is basically about Caroline as her family is falling apart. She heads back Peachtree Bluff, a place she never expected to be her saving grace. As her marriage publicly implodes her family becomes her restorative. Caroline is a strong, yet quirky woman. She has some OCD issues and can be a little more “truthful” than you want her to be. This was an endearing trait which I loved.

There are so many great aspects to this read. Wonderful setting, awesome characters and there are some fabulous lines in this book. I laughed out loud in several places and wanted to cry in others! I did feel there were too many characters. I had to think about a character and how they were related. All in all a really good, heartwarming read!

There must be a sequel in the works….a story line is not finished and I so want to know more!

I received this novel from Netgalley for a honest review.
