This book shows how to create different social stories. Social stories are used to help prepare a person with autism for a social situation they may be unfamiliar with. This book is not aimed only at young children but also at older childern/adults who may still need the support of a social story. A useful book for anyone who needs a bit of help in both understanding the purpose and wants to create some social stories for individuals.

Fabulous book, easy to read and recommended reading for all teachers, and not just those that think they are specialist in looking after children with autism. Words, like pictures are interpreted differently and this book helps the reader in how to use language, their language to capture the needs of the autistic child.

As a parent of a child with autism I was very interested in reading this book. I found the authors own experiences with her son so informative and the social story ideas were excellent, highly recommend.

I love using visuals with students on the spectrum and the visuals in Successful Social Stories are a fine place to start. It is a mishmash of children's book and parenting advice. I didn't find the advice portion as groundbreaking. There is no new perspective for those that are familiar with ASD, but perhaps a newbie would find it a good beginner in social stories. The social stories are easy to follow and there is at least one that any young student could identify with. I found them to be a little too simplistic for older children and college students (with mild symptoms) and the graphics were a little plain. Nonetheless, for those new to the social story concept, this is a good place to start.
