Easily four and a half stars, bumped up to a five. The ending will blow you away. The two main characters are very different, but immediately likeable and you really feel for them both. I suspected a couple of the surprises in the end, but there were also a couple that managed to shock me. A very twisted and gripping story.

Lana is just trying to pay her rent and care for her daughter. She's stuck doing a sort of telemarketing job, trying to sell holidays. Unfortunately, she is not good at it. Her boss informs her that she needs to make a sale TODAY or she's out of a job. No pressure. As the workday begins to wind down, she gets increasingly desperate. Her final call of the day may or not be a sale... but it's certainly one she'll remember forever.

Liam is on the other end of the line, thousands of miles away. The last few years of his life have been unbelievably difficult, and he's drawn to Lana and begins to tell her his story and listen to hers. Someone should know what causes him to kill himself, right? Both fueled by anger and desperation, their secrets come out, telling each other terrible things no one else knows.

I was given an ARC of this novel from Net Galley and HQ Digital, thank you! My review is honest and unbiased.

What a great read . Hooked from the beginning as the stories of Lana and Liam evolve , strangers connected on by a chance phone call. A phone call that keeps the reader hooked to the end. Look forward to more from this author . My thanks to the publisher and netgalley for my arc which I have chosen to review

Great debut, once I read the prologue I had to keep reading. It's well written and Lana and Liam are really likeable characters. It's in an unusual setting of a call centre in Tenerife where Lana is working. When she cold calls Liam's number one day back in the UK to sell him a holiday he tells her he is about to commit suicide. This then hooks you in and both Liam's story and Lana's then unfold. With a few surprise twists at the end this is a book you can't put down.

I think I need to lie down after reading this book, to recover my senses,if I can, plus I stayed up way too late reading it last night as I couldn't put the book down I kept thinking I'll just read another chapter then another... I was like a woman possessed I was tapping my kindle to get to the next page and reading as fast as I could I feel exhausted now. What a book, it is about a chance telephone conversation between Lana and Liam she is in tele sales and hes about to kill himself.. Who thinks of these things, and this is a debut novel, what a great imagination and great writing to capture the readers imagination and take us on this journey.I really wanted to find out what was going to happen I'm not going to spoil it for other readers,I liked the pace of the book and the way it moved around alternating between Liam and Lana's stories, fab book.Hope others enjoy it as much as I did. Thanks to Netgalley and the Publishers for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Lana lives in Tenerife with her daughter Amber. She works in a call centre selling ~”bargain holidays”and has done for the last 6 months. Her boss Damien snorts coke and treats them all badly. The trouble is Lana hasn’t sold a single one and today she will lose her job unless she manages that magic call. Meanwhile in the UK Liam has just had enough. His life has been troubled in too many ways and today is the day he decides to end it all, for him and for the sake of Elliot, the child asleep upstairs. What transpires is an unputdownable story that draws you in. I really struggled to put this down and could easily have read the whole thing in one sitting. A story of hope, of people who care. Of the traumas of life and that there is help out there whatever the situation. Twists and turns that you really don’t see coming. A tale to remember, a tale to make you think and shed a tear. This is one stunning novel and I look forward to more from this author.
I voluntarily chose to read this ARC and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Trust me by Gemma Metcalf.
OMG what a twister of a read. Lana sells holidays she phones Liam in the hope of getting a sale because if she don't she is fired. But Liam wants to kill himself. Lana must stay on the line to try and stop him from killing himself. I just couldn't put it down until I got to the last page. I had to know what happened between lana and Liam. This is a must read and I would highly recommend this book. It will grab you and keep you spellbound until the end. 5*. Thanks to hq digital and netgalley.

Trust Me by Gemma Metcalfe is a fast paced thriller. Lana's job is on the line if she doesn't sell a vacation package within the next couple of hours. She's been warned not to accept any excuses, not to believe what the prospects on the other end of the phone line tell her...then her next outgoing call is answered by a man who is about to end his own life. As he tells her what led to his decision, she begins to reveal her own secrets. The story is told in alternating first person chapters, both building up to the moment of the call. The characters seemed more desperate than sympathetic, and there were a couple of twists that I couldn't suspend my disbelief enough to accept, but their lives were interesting enough to keep me reading.

This was a truly great little debut of a first novel. It had a unique story plot throughout, not one that I’ve come across in books before, so well done to the author there. I found the story to be fast paced and fairly gripping from start to finish, it was a little predictable in places as I did guess what was going to happen before it happened on a couple of occasions, but regardless of that I still enjoyed reading it.

Would I recommend this book, yes I would.

Ever hear those stories about wrong numbers on calls or texts that end up in funny situations? This book is like that but not in a funny way. Lana is trying to not get fired from her telemarketing job and needs to sell a knock-off vacation package. On the other end of the phone, Liam is trying to kill himself. Other than the odd fact that he answered the phone to begin with, the story progresses along as he tells her what has lead to this moment and she tells him her history in order to keep him on the phone and not dying. Narration bounces back and forth between the two of them. I will admit that I figured out most of the twists before they were revealed. In that way, the story was very predictable. But the framework of the phone call and the situation they both found themselves in was unique and gave some depth to an otherwise predictable story line.

I read a lot of this genre of book and I always crave something that's different. This was that book. It's two people having a phone conversation, many miles away from each other. Two people each with their own problems thrown together by circumstance. A bond that, once made, changed both their lives.
Lana is a telesales girl for holidays. She isn't very good and needs a sale to save her job. She calls Liam and is shocked to find out that he is about to kill himself. She needs that sale bad but she can't just ignore him. As they continue their conversation, they start telling each other things about their lives. Liam is desperate for someone to know the truth before he leaves the world and Lana, well she finds someone safe to offload things from her past she is hiding from as well as trying to change Liam's mind about his plan of action.
Liam and Lana take turns in narrating both the present day's action as well as also taking us back to the past. Each section is clearly headed so that you know who and when you are following and the story segues seamlessly between each so I found it very easy to follow.
I really felt for Liam as he started to tell his story. What happened to him in his past and how that shaped his present. It drew me in, tugged at my heartstrings and, at times, left me breathless and shocked. And then when Lana started telling her tale I just crumbled at what had happened to her too. Talk about getting emotionally involved with characters in a book! I was totally gone. There was no way I was putting this book down as I HAD to know how it finished. I needed to stay with these characters to the bitter end. I do love character driven books and this one totally ticked that box for me.
I also found the writing style very easy to get into. The main element of the story is the phone conversation, ie two people having a chat, and I found this to be very well done. Then the flashbacks were written more formally and I found the two different styles complemented each other perfectly. Both Lana's and Liam's individual stories could each have filled their own book as they were both pretty full on but even combined here in one book, one story, they are both complete and they work well together. They are extremely well plotted and contain their own twists and turns as they meander along as they are being told. They also both felt very real, harrowing and hard hitting but real. And I loved that they were disclosed as they were. The telesales phone call that sparked it all off was just the best way of putting these two broken people together. Brilliant!
And then I find out that this is another debut book and that just blew me away. There was no way I would have thought that whilst reading. The author already has a mature voice and writing and plotted were tight and very well done. My one criticism, if I have to be honest, would be that there were a few too many cliffhanger endings to chapters. Maybe the author felt that necessary for the reader to stay. Me, I was emotionally involved from the off, no way was I going anywhere.

My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

The story failed to convince me but I would still recommend it as I think a lot of readers would enjoy it. I just never felt the tension that there really should have been as the plot is extremely time sensitive... or should be.
Some of the characters were not developed as well as they might have been and some of the language and actions seemed to be put in with no proper thought as to should this character really have done or said this.

I thought that this was a really interesting premise for a story - a call-centre worker telephoning someone who was about to commit suicide, it seemed so simple an idea.

Both voices worked well, and whilst I perhaps could have done without the 'bombshell' endings to a lot of the chapters, finding them a tad annoying, I really did care enough about both Lara and Liam to be invested in their stories. And certainly their hidden pasts were very intriguing. I did perhaps have to turn a blind-eye to the length of time Lara managed to stay on one phone call without getting into trouble, but I was concerned enough with the histories to discount what was happening in the present. There were a couple of other little niggles but again nothing that overtly bothered me or spoilt my enjoyment of the book; indeed I found it to be quite an assured narrative voice.

In her acknowledgements Gemma Metcalfe says 'I hope I left you guessing until the end!' I can reassure her that she did! And whilst I'm not really one that likes to talk about endings too much, I did enjoy it. I even liked the way it's left open a little which is very unusual for me.

Liam's story is quite difficult in places and I found his relationship with Jessica very sad and painful to read. And whilst Lara's story isn't quite as traumatic, it is a scarily realistic position she found herself in.

I think Trust Me is a good little book; there's enough to keep anyone entertained and it's a quick, easy and fulfilling read.

If I could rate Trust Me 10 stars I would!

I was hooked from page 1. Gemma's style of writing made reading even better. The chapters were short and sharp.
I was hanging on to every word desperate to find out more. It was captivating, enthralling, Heartbreaking and had so many twists and turns I was left guessing at every page.

Lana and Liam connect via a telephone call that will change both of their lives forever!

When Lana calls Liam trying to sell him a holiday, Liam tells Lana he is about to kill himself.

Lana is about to lose her job if she don't make a sale but all she can think of is Liam.

She rings him back and so their journey begins

Eventually Lana persuades Liam to tell he's story to her. On doing so it opens up wounds for Lana and she too begins to confide in Liam reliving her awfull story to him and why she run away, in order to save him.

Jessica is Liam's current wife and the story is heavily centered around her manipulative, physcotic ways.

Without giving anything away, you soon learn Jessica is jealous of Liam's deceased ex wife and she does everything in her power to control and bully him.

My heart really went out to Liam he suffered so much at the hands of Jessica and carried so much guilt, tragedy and heartache, I can see why he feels he has no way out. Jessica has trapped him, there really is no escape!

Lana's story is equally as tragic. She has parents who are cruel and disown her for being pregnant at a young age and she has a drug addict brother who endangers her daughter and steals from her.
It because of her brother she ends up running away.

Throughout reading Trust Me I had so many questions and theories they changed Chapter by Chapter which I loved as it kept me on my toes craving to know the answers.

The Chapters go from past to present but Gemma has managed to make the transition seamlessly.
Normally I find this frustrating but with Trust Me it works.
It is perfect for the phone call style. Lana needs to keep Liam talking and in order to do this she asks him questions which blend into telling he's story.

I highly recommend reading Trust Me, it really is a heart racing, page turning, captivating, gripping story.

I can't wait to read more of Gemma Metcalfe books.
I would like to say Thank you to the publishers for accepting my request to read this exciting new book.

Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to have read this book.
The book started a bit slow for me, personally, but when it got momentum it locked me in, and I couldn't stop reading, because I just needed to see what secrets will be spilled next!!! I loved the way the story jumped between the present and the past, it was done seamlessly, and added extra juice to the storyline.
It was a great read and highly recommended.

Trust Me is Gemma Metcalfe's debut novel and what a corker of a read it is. I was hooked from the first page and it only took me a couple of days to finish it.

Lana is working at a call centre in Tenerife selling cheap holidays to British tourists. She is struggling to make that all important sale and her boss has warned her that she will be sacked if he doesn't see improvement. But when she phones a number and speaks to Liam who lives hundreds of miles away in England, she could not possibly have known how this one call will change her life forever.

Liam confesses to Lana over the phone that he is intending to kill himself but Lana tries desperately to stop him. What do you do when someone tells you something so horrific? Can Lana really afford to help him at that moment when her boss is breathing down her neck all the time demanding that she must make a sale?

Gemma will keep you turning the pages as she delves deeper into her character's lives. I wasn't sure where this story was going to go, when Liam and Lana both began to talk about their pasts but the direction it took really did shock me, the ending left me reeling, not just for Liam but for Lana as well. The twists at the end really do hit you, particularly in Liam's story.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Gemma does next. Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me an arc to review.
