Marissa was a were who couldn’t shift into her wolf and so she had been an outsider and had no pack and lived among the humans. She woke up next to a guy she had picked up at the bar the night before whose name was Chad who wants to see her again and told her to call. Chad was hot but did not help the deep inner loneliness Marissa felt. Then Marissa got an invitation from her sister Elizabeth who was living in a pack and was taking a mate and wanted Marissa there. It had been ten years since Marissa and Elizabeth had been separated from each other. Marissa had told Elizabeth to follow her dreams. Marissa knew she couldn’t have the life he wanted. Marissa and Elizabeth had got away from their birth pack luckily. Now Elizabeth was mating Greg. Marissa couldn’t say no it was the only thing Elizabeth had ever asked of Marissa. Marissa had never set foot on pack territory since she had left the pack she was born into. Until now. Elizabeth tried to get marrissa interested in pack life and Marissa seldom took Elizabeth’s calls. Marissa hadn’t meant to let so much time go by without talking to her sister It didn’t help that marissa really didn’t understand how Marissa felt about things. Marissa had grown up alone and would remain that way. Marissa had once given her heart to a wolf and it had ended badly. Marissa felt very attracted to gage who was Elizabeth’s and Greg’s Alpha but it would stop there. Gage was very attracted to Marissa and it had been years since he had felt that way.
I absolutely loved this story. It had a great plot and pace to it. I loved marissa and gage together. I also loved how Gage was forcing Marissa and their relationship to be out in the open. I loved how Gage was determined to break down Marissa’s walls and officially make her his. I felt so bad for marissa and the life she had known before meeting Gage. This was well written and i thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It has become one of my new favorites. Great paranormal romance and great ending. I will look for more books from this author to read. I loved the characters and the ins and outs and i highly recommend.

This book was first published on April 20th, 2009. But when it comes to reading a paranormal romance about were-shifters and strong Alpha men, I am all in. And with a doubt Pack Alpha the first book in a 15-part series, written by Crissy Smith didn’t disappoint this reader.

Marissa wasn’t thrown out of her pack more so that she was driven to leave. See, Marissa was a non-shifter and to her old pack that wasn’t heard of. Driven out of her pack, to allow her sister to thrive, Marissa didn’t know any other life except the one she was shown. So, what a surprise, while attending her sister’s mating ceremony and meets the shifter who will change her outlook on life.

Gage Wolf is used to defending his pack. And when his wolf sets his eyes on Marissa, his wolf won’t be denied even if it’s because of Marissa thinking that she’s protecting him.

There new attraction for each other would be put to the test when a visit from Marissa old pack members attends the mating ceremony.

Pack Alpha was a short read but packed a lot in that short time frame. A great book and an excellent start to a series.

Pack Alpha by Crissy Smith, is the first book in the Were Chronicles.
I am a huge fan of shape shifter novels, and I really enjoyed it. But I did feel as if it was too predictable and I was hoping for more of a story rather than so many sex scenes. However I did like it, and will eventually look into reading more from Crissy Smith.

Always a pleasure reading her books. This is a re-read but with a updated & extended version. I will say those extra 3 chapters help close the storyline now instead of the bleh ending we got before. I can see where people call this short and not very good but the extra scenes help. People who don't really like this should try her Shifter Chronicles which is loosely tied-into this series starting in book 6 I want to say it's been a while.

Pack Alpha is a quick, intensely sexy story. The characters were likable, the story… well, it was sexy. I wish I could say it captured my attention enough to go pick up the 15 stories that make up the entire series. To be frank, if it were on Kindle Unlimited (where the author still gets paid and I pay a flat monthly fee) then I might have. But at the price now, then no, my curiosity will remain. Going by the titles for the rest of the series, it seems that many of my unanswered questions from this first story might be answered over time. I may pick up the next in line and see if my feelings change, it’s not fair to base an entire series on one story… so we shall see.

Please don’t misunderstand – it’s a good story, for what it is – and that is pure sex. Now that’s my opinion – you need to check this out for yourself as you may feel quite differently. Remember a review is only one person’s opinion.

At the end of the day, Pack Alpha was a good story that I enjoyed my time in – but I’m content with that.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Pack Alpha was a great, well written short story. I loved the way Gage and Marissa relationship dealt with the barriers rather than skipping over them. I really look forward to reading more of this series.

Marissa is doing something she swore she would never do again, go into pack territory. Her sister is getting married and wants her there for the ceremony. The only good thing about it is that her sister is in a different pack now so she won't encounter any of her old pack. Not that she could even go back there anyway after being banned from the pack for overstepping her bounds as a non-shifter. When she arrives she finds herself at odds with the Alpha even if he is the hottest man/wolf she has ever seen.

Gage knows once he meets Marissa that she is his. Never mind that all she wants to do is argue. It does not matter to him that she cannot shift. But as the two get closer her past comes back to haunt them. Can he save his woman not only from herself, but from the threat from the former pack?

This is the first in the series and I am looking forward to reading more.

'Pack Alpha' by Crissy Smith is book One in the "Were Chronicles" series. This is the story of Marissa Boyd and Gage Wolf. This book was first published in 2009 and then released again in 2016 with a new cover. If you like the Alpha Male Wolf type than this book is for you like it was for me! Marissa is what they call a 'Were" which from my understanding is born to a wolf family but is unable to shift. Marissa has all the feelings and drives but cannot change. In her last Pack she didn't fit in because of this and her interaction the the Alpha leader there. So she has moved to live on her own and not really seen her older sister since she can shift. They remain close from a distance. Now her sister has found a new pack and a mate. So she has invited Marissa to attend the Pack/Mate ceremony. Gage and Marissa but heads from the start but both hare having a hard time fighting their attractions....but do they really want to fight it? "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

Though I was excited to read this story from the book blurb, this story was just an okay read for me. I could see the strong chemistry between the main characters, the surrounding characters added to the story, I still felt like there was something missing. I needed more of the heroine's history. I needed to know more of why she was teh way she was.The sister did not bring any love to her.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Pack alpha wow...i'm not even sure what to say. I was sort of expecting something different then what we were given and in not a bad way. Marissa is a shifter who can't shift. Thanks to that her family has suffered. Now years later she is goign to have to face being involved in wolves when her sister is getting married.

Gage is a great character too. I enjoyed how he treated her and how he maintained his character through the whole book. They both have some issues to work through and when the past starts to come back and haunt them they will be put to the test. It was a good book and i was surprised in a great way. Seriously enjoyed it.

I rather enjoyed this....after I got through the first few chapters. I'm weird I know but I don't like having previous relationships so close to the main characters getting together. Gage and Marissa had a connection you could feel though and despite circumstances against them come together amazingly well. I'll pick up the next in this series.

I really liked this book at first. I thought the plot was really interesting if it wasn't I would have given it a lower rating. . I wanted to see why her pack treated her badly. I wanted to see more interaction between her sister and her. I wanted a ton of dynamics....but I didn't get it.

Instead I got this troubled girl who meets the alpha from her sisters pack, has sex with him, and then everything is perfect. We didn't get to see why the her pack treated her bad, we didn't get to see why the pack would want her back, nothing was really settled with her sister. The interview with the council was nonexsistant. She worried so much about it, but we didn't get any details at all. What a mindless book it turned into.

I am so disappointed. I wanted a real story and I got fantasy island. Not my cup of tea.

Received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

This one was short but very sweet. Seriously, it was bare bones story and I was wanting more. Add 100 pages of more interactions, not referenced after the fact and it would've been a favorite in my paranormal category.

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this book as much as I hoped I would. I felt that the story was missing something (not sure what though). I got bored with it and by the end, I was skim reading the story just so that I could finish the book.
