Author Cheyenne McCray has a way of writing action. Hidden Prey is the first in her hot series Deadly Intent. This is a very good story with solid characters and I really liked that the heroine wasn’t a basket case after all that she went through. But you’ll have to read to see for yourself what that is. I do have to disclose that there is abuse and rape for those who have issues with those types of triggers. I usually skip these books but I’ve read this author before and really enjoy her work. The story was full of action, suspense, and some hot sexy scenes you should totally check this out if you like action.

Great story. I loved story and how the two main characters both love the looks of each other, but are reluctant to give into their attraction. Lots of action in the story. Readers of Cherry Adair and Suzanne Brockmann will love this story.

This book keeps the action going. Tori seeing the execution and having them chase her and Lance made me want to keep reading it. I was a little thrown off by the Old Lady with the prediction in the beginning, but at the end you find out who and what she is. I liked the ending although I am not sure those kind of problems just go away in a drug cartel because the leadership changes. I think there could be more to the story and I would truly love to read more about Lance and Tori

Tori has finally left her schmuck of an abusive boyfriend behind. But on her way back to her parents home to lick her wounds, she runs smack into trouble of the Cartel kind. But when she runs from the scene of a murder she literally runs into the arms of Landon Walker, DHA agent.

Landon happens to know the undercover agent who has been murdered and takes Tori into custody to keep her safe. But when her location is continually leaked to the Cartel, he has to wonder if there is a leak in the department or is Tori herself is unwittingly giving them away.

Tori is a strong character and I really enjoyed her journey from abused woman to being her own hero! Landon is the perfect mix of Alpha man and sensitive soul, with a strong streak of loyalty and family.

Definitely want to read more of this series!!

I usually don’t have a lot of problems that other people have with romantic suspense. The fast romance doesn’t bother me because of the intensity of the situation the characters find themselves in. Hidden Prey was an exception to my rule.

Tori Cox is in a wrong place, wrong time situation. Leaving her home and boyfriend, all Tori wants is her mom. She takes a shuttle home to Bisbee because her car was in the shop. She’s let off the shuttle in the worst part of town and finds herself taking a shortcut through an alley. That’s where she witnesses the murder of a federal agent. She doesn’t know he’s a federal agent of course. Instead of being quiet, Tori screams at the top of her lungs. I wanted to throat punch her for that. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt for that, but it was hard.

She literally runs into Landon Walker, who gives her refuge from the criminals. Landon has no idea that the case of her career has fallen right into his lap. When he learns it’s his undercover agent that was murdered, he knows that it was the Jimenez cartel and he finally has a witness to prove it.

Their attraction to each other was instant and intense. I just didn’t buy it. Tori had just left an abusive relationship about twelve hours prior to witnessing the murder. Then they’re getting it on in the safe house a day later. Who does that? I found myself mostly skimming the book, just wanting to finish it because I don’t like DNF’s. It wasn’t DNF material because the plot was good. It was just the problems with the relationship overshadowed the whole book for me. I didn’t even realize this was a series. There wasn’t a secondary character that stood out to me.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Hidden Prey written by Cheyenne McCray is book #1 in her Deadly Intent series. Based on a thrilling tale of being at the wrong place at the wrong time, and redemption. Tori was coming home after escaping from a relationship based on control. But, escape for Tori comes with a price. After witnessing a murder of which she would later learn of a Federal agent. Tori must go into hiding to stay alive.
Landon has his own cross to bear when he learns that the witness he is to protect is the sister of a man worked for the same cartel out to silence her.
The suspense of the storyline couldn’t touch the burning attraction that Landon ignites in Tori. I would recommend this story to any reader who likes suspense with a well-scripted plotline.

I received a copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. Wow! This started out fast and never slowed down. Tori Cox left her boyfriend to go see her parents. But she witnessed an execution of a federal agent by the Jimenez Cartel just as soon as she arrived in Bisbee. That’s how she met Landon Walker, Special Agent with the Department of Homeland Security/Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency. This is a fast paced book with all the action and excitement that you could ask for! Thinks are blowing up all over town! I really enjoyed reading this book. I think you will, too.

A good story overall. Really liked Tori and Landon together. The violence and torture could have been downplayed a bit more for my taste, but still liked the story. The Mexican cartel is not one I read a lot about, but added a depth to this story. Would highly recommend this book and author.

I enjoyed this book but I felt that there were some slow parts. I do love how Cheyenne shows the cities in AZ. She keeps them real.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire! Tori is on the run for her life because of a former lovers psychotic abuse, then manages to witness the murder of an undercover agent. This is where Landon comes in, a no-nonsense agent who wants to find the ones who killed his colleague. Lots of thrills and strong characters in this book. You won't be bored!

This book is advertised as an erotic romance suspense. That description is certainly true. There is more violence and sex than I normally enjoy when reading a suspense novel. Set is the US southwest and Mexico it is based on the drug cartels. Tori is in the wrong place at the wrong time when she witnesses the murder of an American agent. As she runs for her life, she ends up in the arms of Landon, another agent. Lots of sexual tension and violence but a fast moving story that is book one of a new series.

She just broke up with her boyfriend and now on her way to her parents she witnesses a murder. they want her dead , no witness left behind. They assigned a DHS agent to protect her and gather evidence. he has bow to protect her. Life has not been easy for Landan and setting his eyes on tori is not what he expected. A first time reader of this author I found the story a little slow at some times but over all a good read.

Tori Cox is a musician, plays clarinet for a symphony and teaches music. She’s returning home to her parents after leaving her abusive boyfriend when she witnesses an execution by a drug cartel.

Landon Walker is a special agent with Homeland Security who just happens to be visiting his grandmother when he sees Tori running from the cartel members.

I really enjoyed the suspense part of the book but felt the romance needed more development. It almost felt like an after thought and not an integral part of the storyline.

SPOILERS BELOW
The great grandmother piece of this story felt weird and awkward.
Her cryptic message in the beginning never did make real sense or get explained. And some of the wrap up wasn’t believable to me. I can’t believe a cartel would ever stop looking for Tori or the granddaughter. Also, I struggled with the fact Landon kept carrying around Tori’s phone after removing the battery and that he hadn’t given it a thorough going over initially.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy provided by NetGalley. Since I received this book after it was published, I hope the multiple typos were corrected.

I loved the plot for the fast paced action and I am grateful that for not a sinnle moment, it disappointed me. But when it comes to the characters, I was completed disenchated with them. Most of the time, it felt like a role play.

Hidden Prey has nonstop action from beginning to end. I truly could not put the book down.
Landon is so protective of Tori from the moment he sees her running up a hill away from the Cartel, after witnessing them murdering a man. Fate put the two of them together, and must have had a hand in keeping them alive.

HOT! HOT! HOT! And not only because the location takes place in Arizona!

Tori Cox has left her abusive boyfriend and on her way to visit her parents in Bisbee. Taking a short cut, she sees a man murdered in an alley and runs for her life. She literally runs right into the arms of Landon Walker, a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security. The murdered man turns out to be an undercover agent who was investigation a particular drug cartel.

Lots of explosive action as Tori is shunted from safe house to safe house, while members of the cartel keep finding them.

Cheyenne McCray's books are always highly engaging ... extremely nasty bad guys and beautiful heroines, who are strong women in their own right, and a passionate relationship between hero and heroine.

When I take a break away from serial killers, I find it very cleansing for my soul to read this author's books. I always try to remember to keep the fan on when I'm reading ...but that's a good thing to me.

This is first in a series ... I'm definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series, as well.

Thank You to the author / Totally Entwined Group / Netgalley for the advance copy of this book. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
