Not exactly what I pictured. I thought this was going to be a poetry book written by teenagers while they were in juvenile detention. Instead I found a memoir that intertwined her experiences teaching at the inmates--without giving us much access to neither their voices or their experiences--with her relationship with her father from their parents' divorce to his death.
