I couldn't put this novel down. Just had to find out how Sienna and Emiliano's story ends. After a bad breakup Sienna is trying to move on with her life. While out to dinner with a headhunter, Sienna realises Emiliano is in the restaurant. Desperate to hurt him she tells him she is on a date, and its the third date. Emiliano knows what this means. They quarrel for awhile, Sienna desperate to leave doesn't see the ice. She falls and hits her head. When she awakens she finds out she had to have an operation and cant remember who she is. She slowly starts to remember some things, but cant remember how badly things ended with Emiliano. To make matters more complicated she finds out she is pregnant. Emiliano regretted how things ended and wants her back. He sees this as a chance to right some wrongs. At the start of this book Emiliano comes across as a typical arrogant alpha male. By the end of the book we see he also has a sweet side.

When fiercely independent Sienna Newman's memory is lost, she's transported back to those blissful nights with her ex-boss, powerful Argentinean Emiliano Castillo! And with the news of her pregnancy sending shock waves through them both, she tentatively accepts Emiliano's invitation to his luxurious private island…

When Emiliano realizes Sienna has no idea how they were torn apart, he knows it's a race against time to secure his claim on his child—and Sienna!—before her memories return. Can the seduction of a lifetime convince her that she's where she belongs…in his bed?

The Boss's Nine-Month Negotiation is the story of Emiliano, who in order to save his family business that his parents have defrauded, agrees to marry a rich neighbour's daughter in order to raise the money to pay back the debt. The only problem is he's in a relationship with Sienna, who due to a head injury has just forgotten everything except their relationship.
This book begins promisingly with businessman Emiliano put in a tight spot by his parents in the very first chapter, although for a moment I did think that this was going to be the romance promised by the blurb. He agrees to marry his neighbour's daughter and then heads back to London to let Sienna, his current partner, know what's going on.
And that's where it all goes wrong (spoilers ahead - read on if you dare).
First, Emiliano chooses to still sleep with Sienna just so he doesn't 'ruin' her birthday. Then he pretty much causes the accident leading to her losing her memory. And finally, despite the fact that they broke up before her amnesia, Emiliano cons Sienna into marrying him and then sleeping together even though he knows that she doesn't want anything to do with him. To be honest, it was really uncomfortable to read and I was cringing when reading it. The rest of the book was pretty much ruined for me after that. I mean, I appreciate that Mills and Boon books have certain tropes - it's not the first heroine-with-amnesia story I've ever read - and that the heroes need to be strong and confident and in control, but I also have come to expect them to have some awareness of consent and decent behaviour and this book had neither.
And 'I had to have sex with you without telling you about my engagement to another woman because it's your birthday' is not a decent excuse, no matter how you word it.
Consent issues. Hero issues. Basic rules of decency issues. 1 star.

I couldn't put this book down. Once started (mistake to do so just before bed) I read through the night in order to finish. There was of course no need for the angst and pain caused to the heroine, if the hero had been more open and communicated; but then there wouldn't have been a story!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

I love a good romance with the amnesia trope thrown in, The Boss’s Nine-Month Negotiation also had the added treat of an unexpected pregnancy as well, so this was a story I did not struggle to read.

"When your memories return I hope you will give me a chance to offer up my better qualities and plead my case on any faults you find…"

I really enjoyed Maya’s writing, although initially you would assume that Sienna is the vulnerable of the two, what with being pregnant and to a man she doesn’t fully remember, it is actually Emiliano who is the one that you end up seeing more vulnerability from as their story progresses.

"Everything you crave, you only have to ask for and it’ll be yours>"

There are a lot of layers to this story, not just the aforementioned, but Emiliano family and Sienna’s lack of one as well. I liked them both as characters, and I loved the way the amnesia gave the reader a chance to see the other side of Emiliano, because for all his alpha-demandingness, there was also a sweet and considerate guy to be seen as well, especially in the latter stages of the story.

"I’m all yours…"

"Si… you are."

A really enjoyable read, and I hope that we get to see more of the Castillo family, especially Emiliano’s brother who I believe could also do with his own Happily ever after.
