3.5 STARS

There is nothing wrong with this book. If you like this genre and you pick up this book for your holiday or a lazy weekend, you'll enjoy it. The main characters are likeable - Ross is a sexy main man and Bobbie is a feisty character. And the lighthouse element certainly adds the quirky factor! It definitely makes a change from the now seemingly very common 'girl moves home and opens a cafe by the seaside' story.

However, I found I had to force myself to finish it just because I was given an ARC via netgalley for review purposes. If I had bought it, I probably would have lost interest about half way through and abandoned it. I can't put my finger on anything in particular that caused me to have this reaction. It just didn't grab me. It doesn't have the 'wow factor' for me & I wouldn't be particularly inclined to read more from this author.

A free review copy was provided by netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely hilarious! If you're looking for a light-hearted, fun read then this book is just perfect.

Bobbie is out walking her dog, Monty, by the beach when she comes across someone pinning a 'for sale' sign on their local dilapidated lighthouse. As it turns out the guy doing the pinning, Ross, is someone from school that she shared her first kiss with all those years ago, and the lighthouse is for sale for £1.

The same day was actually Bobbie's birthday, and her sister Jess who is her twin, so they go out for a drink to their local pub, and whilst there they bump into Ross. Jess goes off with a guy she meets, so Bobbie and Ross then have a drink together, which ends up in one too many and they agree to buy the lighthouse together and turn it into a music venue. So the rest of the book is taken up with trying to get grants and raising funds to turn their dream into a reality.

The dialogue between nearly all the characters is so amusing, I loved Bonnie's Mum, she's such a character, and they had such a wonderful relationship, friends as well as Mum and daughters. Of course there are the usual not so nice characters too, but you need them to balance out the story.

Of course it's not all smooth-sailing and there are a few hiccups along the way, Ross's soon-to-be-ex-wife being one of them, but it all turned out perfectly in the end. Very funny book that I was giggling throughout. If you're looking for a fun story to make you feel happy then this is the book for you.

This is the first time reading any by this author and I have to admit I really enjoyed. Love story but totally different in a way! Lifehouse resurrection and love! Jealously and everyday life! Very good read

Bobbie Hannigan has had quite the day. On a morning walk with her dog, Monty, she’s bought a dilapidated light house (for about $1.50) and been reacquainted with school days crush, Ross, who’s grown up to be quite yummy. All seems to be looking up – if you can get around the particulars of restoring the old light- she and Ross are getting along nicely. Then someone from his past blows into town and Bobbie’s bright future looks like it may wink out just like the light from her new home

Well its not often that you start a book with an impulse purchase of a lighthouse! And its the small act of marginal madness that not only sets off a chain of events for Bobbie and old friend Ross, but also sets the tone perfectly for the rest of the book.

For this is lovely light hearted story, with a lighthouse and some interlinked love stories at the heart of it. The lighthouse itself is the focal point, and Bobbie and Ross do have a master plan for it, which involves fundraising initially and then music.

There is just a fun and pleasant story that made me smile throughout it. It's the first book I have read by the author, and I loved her writing style, and general sense of humour. It is just such a quirky story and I loved everything to do with the Lighthouse itself.

The book is easy to follow and there are a few small surprises along the way. What really helped make the book so great were some of the characters. There is Bobbie's mother who gives potential new boyfriends a Spanish Inquisition style grilling, there is an old thespian who is just OTT, there is a bar owner who does a great line in bad chat up lines, and bizarre dress sense, there is an ex wife that seemingly has her own agenda, and an ex boyfriend who I really didn't like at all, for reasons that will become apparent as you read the book.

Meet Me at the Lighthouse is a lovely story to read on a relaxed and sunny weekend, or at any other time really, and was a great introduction for me to a new author who I definitely will be interested in reading more from.

Thank you to Harper Impulse and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
