I enjoyed this book. A very easy to read book with a variety of characters which kept you hooked. It was like a big hug in a book

I read this at the same time I was reading A Year of Living Danishly. I was hungry for anything 'hygge'. This book does not disappoint. It is deliciously warm, (just like their pastries) and has lots of Danish culture to sink your teeth into. It is the cafe you wish you had. The novel is a cross between a chic lit and a Danish tourism brochure. A very light hearted read, prefect for holidays.

Julie Chaplin has defenitely wrote a special story. She created a romance with a passion and a slight of hygge. In the beginning, I thought the story would be to easy to guess how it would continue but she proved me wrong, I never expected these many turnes.
In The Little Cafe in Copenhagen we follow the story from Kate. Kate is a PR and has to organise a trip with six journalists to Denmark to feel the feeling of hygge. At the moment hygge is popular throughout the world. Not even the persons in the story are impressed by hygge, but me as a reader am impressed too. Julie made sure I understand the goal of hygge.
At this trip Kate gets to know each person connected to the trip. It makes the reading funny and gives me a warmth feeling. Due to not giving away any spoilers, I think you should read this book because for the simplest of reasons. Its a fast paced story, its a romance (im always in for a romance), I enjoyed it very much, and it kinda feels like the story has a purpose of letting you know about hygge.

Im intrigued and would want to read the follow up.

Like Kate I had no clue what Hygge was, or how to spell it. She soon learns how deceptively simple the Danish concept is, it's not merely putting a candle out but choosing items that have a deep meaning for you, which obviously differs from person to person. Kate is given a unique opportunity that changes her life in previously unimagined way. I liked watching her own concept of hygge grow by living among the Danish (whose delicious pastries I believe originate from a different country) and getting to know the lovely Eva who becomes a very good friend, equal to the other friendships Kate has.

Kate's personal transformation helps her grasp the unpleasant reality in a few sectors of her life, helping her make positive changes that were hard at first but become easier. There is the usual misunderstanding between her and her main love interest which was mega frustrating to read because I knew how wrong they had each judged a certain situation. People can be such idiots! I don't recall any books set in Copenhagen, so it was fun to explore it through Kate's adventure since I know nothing about the city where hygge is a key element. It sounds a pretty place that I'd consider visiting one day. There was a nice surprise at the end which isn't a spoiler-there's a book 2 which focuses on Sophie, a character who I warmed to quickly and look forward to learning more about.

This was a wonderful book that I didn’t want to stop reading. Kate Sinclair is trying to make a name for herself as a publicist but her so called boyfriend Josh also wants the same position so has no qualms in making sure he gets the promotion instead. When a client needs someone to promote his new hygge store Kate gets a group of journalists and bloggers together for a visit to Denmark to learn about the Danish way of life.
Different characters are explored and we find out more about each person as the story goes on. The cafe in question is owned by the client’s Mum Eva and I could smell the freshly baked pastries and could easily imagine myself sitting down with one, drinking hot chocolate in a wonderful warm cafe in Denmark, so much so that it’s now on my countries I must visit list.
Ben, a grumpy but handsome, is one of the journalists on the trip and there are a number of amusing and fun times as they all get to know each other and become firm friends, along with Eva who is always there to lend a friendly ear. But Ben and Kate both feel the pull of more than friendship but can misunderstandings and pride get in the way of what they could have?
Although this is the first book I have read by Julie it most certainly won’t be my last and note that she also writes as Jules Wake, so will be seeking these books out too!

This was a delightful story with several threads running through, which all joined together seamlessly. Enjoyable characters all of which made the story come to life. One of those books that make you feel light-hearted and happy. Great read.

I enjoyed The Little Brooklyn Bakery so much that I just had to dip into another one of Julie Caplin's books. I thought as the writing was so evocative of New York then why not see what Copenhagen was like. Somewhere I want to go and really this was the next best thing to a trip there. Usually I don't read books about places I haven't been as I can't get a clear picture in my head. Yet again I found myself on google earth as I just had to see for myself the places being so beautifully described, and I then felt I really need to go there

Although this book is a prequel to The Little Brooklyn Bakery it stands alone. Sophie from the next book is in the story. A few references are made to her life, which of course I knew the outcome of, having read the latest book first. But it didn't affect the story.

At the beginning of the book we meet Kate and find she is in a secret relationship - because they work together. After Josh breaks her heart both professionally and privately I felt a kinship with Kate. From word one I was on her side willing her to do well at whatever else was coming her way. It turns out it was a trip to Copenhagen with a press delegation, which she was in charge of. She's nervous and I did think - what could go wrong? We soon find out and it really was most amusing and heartwarming all at the same time. I loved how the group bonded and supported Kate when the enemy arrived.

I was loving the Copenhagen experience when all too soon the book relocates to London. At first I was disappointed, but what followed was a really great romcom. I am definitely going to be reading the next book in the series - a little bit of escapism beautifully crafted.

I'm giving this book 5 out of 5 stars and my thanks to Netgalley for a review copy of the book.

Kate gets passed over for a promotion at work and all of people it goes to the man she thought she was in love with.

Wanting to prove a point she goes out on a rather conceptual pitch to Lars and his idea of brining a Hygge department store to London. No one thinks she has pulled it off - but Lars loves the idea and so Kate is now the one who has to convince some journalists, bloggers and feature editors that the Danish hygge concept works and is coming to a store near you.

What better place to be able to experience it all that in Copenhagen.

Despite having to put up with egos, drunks, accidents and everything else the journalists throw at her over the trip Kate finds something else.

She finds the way she wants to live her life.

All the journalists with her also find something else. It was lovely for the book to give to time to the supporting characters and showed that despite Kate's main presence within the storyline the trip to Copenhagen was going to effect everyone. That was one of the reasons I enjoyed the book so much.

This really is a cosy book and probably embraces Hygge at its best. The simplicity of life, the choices we make and in this particular place the amount of Danish pastries consumed. Trying to get that promotion and the money doesn't necessarily give you everything you need. Kate finds out how life can be lived even with a few hiccups along the way.

This book is full of humour, love and happiness and I cannot wait to see where I get to go next with Julie Caplin.

To the outsider Kate's life looks perfect. She works hard, loves her job and her boyfriend, but when he stabs her in the back and steals a promotion from her things start to change and she re-evaluates what's really important.

As always, Ms Caplin's characterisation is great. I loved getting to know the cast of characters and spending time with them. Kate's attempts to organise the journalists on the press trip was much like trying to herd cats, and just as funny. Ben, the hero, was gorgeous and I so wanted to spend time in cafe Varmé with the wise, all-knowing Eva.

I came away from this book with a warm, rosy feeling and finally understood what hygge is all about. It felt like I had actually visited Copenhagen by the time I'd finished the book, and it is now right at the top of the list of places I want to go.

If you want to lose yourself in a fun, heartwarming read with some sexy sizzle, try this book. You won't be disappointed.

Loved this book and give it 5 stars. I can't wait to read Sophie's story in The Little Paris Patisserie.

This book made me long for a cosy blanket and a nice warm fire with a lovely cup of hot chocolate to while away the night. It made me want to explore Copenhagen and learn more about Hygge. It really did a good job of showing the concept and Kate's reaction to it.

It delved into the differences between Danish culture and the more work orientated, busy lifestyle of the UK. The difference between a fast paced job in London and a nice little café in Denmark was very clear how very different things were.

I loved the group dynamic of the journalists who went on the Copenhagen trip, how they were all changed and brought together in different ways by Hygge and the café. Each of the characters were so different and were changed in different ways throughout the books.

I really can't wait to read the next book and see more of Sophie's story.

Review: Can you imagine your boyfriend stealing you job right from under you. Well that is what Kate our main character has had happen to her. I needed to read this book to find out what Kate does about it.

A strong women Kate escapes and finds all things relating to hygge and that is a great way to sum up how this book made me feel.

A warm, charming book full of warmth, hope and happiness. Brilliant.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read and review this title. Unfortunately in this instance,I didn't connect to the story. As I didn't finish reading, I will not be reviewing this title. Many thanks and I do look forward to picking up another read from this author.

Kate is the protagonist, after the illusion of a promotian she has the opportunity to travel to Copenhagen with 6 more journalists. They will learn a bit of how Hygge works plus they will have the time of their lives. That being said the book was everything I wanted to be. Such a warm, funny and lovely reading. Now I kind of need to visit Copenhagen. You will definitely feel happy and grateful after reading this book. Please, I need the second book so bad!

nashamedly romantic chick lit!

An enjoyable read that never promises to be anything more than a light-hearted, easy read, with some fun and comedy and some predictable romance.

What I hadn't expected was how much the descriptions of Copenhagen would make me want to visit.

Thank you very much to Netgalley for an early copy in exchange for an honest review. I will look out for future reads by Julie Caplin - maybe the Denmark tourist board should employ her too!

This is a brilliant read which doesn't surprise coming from this author also known as Jules Wake,
Its as warm and hugging as it sounds. We have the cafe that is run mostly by Eva, Danish food is served as you can imagine due to the setting location. The atmospheric surrounding had me hooked lined and addicted to Kate.
Kate is the heroine of the book and he soon to be ex boyfriend is somewhat of trickster. The whole group of journalists have their own uniqueness to their characters of working away for the week and if you was not aware that this city is a city that loves their food. You wouldn't eat the food they eat but the characters made is sound delicious.
I read this quite fast overnight due to insomnia and it didn't take me long at all because it was an utter pleasure to read.
Thank you to net galley and Harper Impulse for this book to review it honestly.

A great easy going read that seemed to envelope me in a world where everything would be ok in the end. I instantly fell in love with characters and the setting of Copenhagen. The book has everything from travel, food, friendship and varme. Warmth just exudes from this book and you can’t help feeling relaxed. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Feel good chick lit embracing Danish culture. I now what a hygge house (Hygge is the Danish concept of living a simple, well & cosy life ) From the book I understand the Danish are very happy and eats lots of pastries. don't care about the pastries but surrounding myself with happy people sounds great to me. Working at a little cafe with cinnamon bun and hot chocolate scents wafting through the air isn't a bad idea either. And discovering the romantic charm in Copenhagen through romantic late- night walks just may lead Publicist Kate Sinclair to realize there is more to life than climbing the corporate ladder. Could love be in the air for this workaholic?

Delightful though this book is I felt that the author had recently read a tome on Hygge and decided to layer it on with a trowel. Lovely people all, with one exception, all behaving beautifully in between drinking hot chocolate and baking cinnamon buns. I read it in one afternoon when it was cold outside and it made me feel content so perhaps that should be enough for a good review!

I absolutely loved this book. A huge hygge hug in literary form. Sophisticated chicken lit at its very best. Just makes you want to shut out the weather curl up in front of a log fire with a huge cup of coffee (and a cinnamon roll) and lose yourself in all things Danish. Can't wait for Ms. Caplin''s next offering
