A nice relaxing read, with a definite twist at the end I didn’t see coming. The Danish pastries were so well des rind I could taste them. The little incidents and happenings on the trip merely added to the enjoyment, and then the ending, you need to read this, you won’t regret it!

Where do I begin... This book is 'hygge' personified.. It hs definitely become my go-to book when I'm feeling blue! It's soooooo good! Ms Caplin sketches out the most endearing characters in a sweet, well-meaning but totally human heroine Kate/ie... a swoony hero in Ben/edict ;)... From the brilliant supporting cast- Spohie, Connie and Eva were my absolute favourites, I actually have yet to meet someone like them in real life! Conrad and Avril were.... a required addition for balance. Josh was a biest tool ever... he deserved a boot up his you-know-where *wink*
It is a must-read spring book.... and to know what's your hygge?! This is definitely mine!
SHOUT_OUT to the first gorgeous cover of 2018!
5 cozy stars! *****

Well this was a winner for me, ticked all the boxes of a fun, cosy, romantic and fun story but wasn’t overly fluffy like a lot of books can be. Katie was a lovely character and I was on her side from the start. I loved seeing her develop during the story and seeing her be free to blossom and do what she wanted not what she thought was expected of her. Ben was lovely and there was just the right amount of heat in the book but plenty of getting to know each other and understanding each other too. Eva was adorable and who I’m sure we would all love to have in our lives! There was beautiful description of pastries that made me so hungry and Copenhagen is firmly on my must go to list now. I loved the ending too. Plenty of scope to discover stories of the friends maybe??! Thank you for the advanced copy. Can’t wait to read more from this author.

I absolutely loved the story. It was so much fun discovering Hygge with the characters, it had a little bit of everything. Fun, flirting, drama, romance, swooning and so many lovable characters.

I loved this book and I’m so glad I saw the tweet for a NetGalley copy on Boxing Day. This is one of those books that made me smile every time I picked it up, because I felt like I was meeting up with old friends.

I really liked Kate and was rooting for her the whole time, she felt like someone I would enjoy be friends with. All the characters Kate came in to contact with felt real and so did the situations she found herself in.

The city break that Kate goes on in Copenhagen is great fun with lots of laugh out loud moments but also some serious ones too. I’d love to visit the little cafe in the title that the author brought to life, it really does sounds like the perfect spot to while away a few hours.

So, If you looking for a perfect feel good read that will leave you smiling this is definitely the book for you.

Even though I’ve read the digital ARC, I’m going to get myself a print copy, so as I can snuggle up with it whenever I need a feel good read and some hygge in my life.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and HarperImpulse for my digital copy.

I really enjoyed this book. There is romance, friendship and hygge. A perfect combination. This is a book that leaves you feeling happy at the end of it. Hygge is a lovely way to view life and this book captures it perfectly.

What a great read! Enjoy how Kate extricates herself from the endless deadlines and routines of her PR job and embraces the Danish hygge when she sets out to promote a new Danish Company. Add into the mix a scheming ex boyfriend and some journalists and a blogger and you will really see how life will change for her through a special cafe in Copenhagen. As someone who has visited the city and marvelled at the nation’s attitude to life it is beautifully observed through the telling of the story. Just perfect for a winter’s reading list!

This book is so lovely warm and cosy. It books you in from the very start. The main characters are friendly and people you would want to be around. You can pictire yourself having a cosy hygge moment with them.
Can't wait to read more book from Julie.

This was such a wonderfully warm read- which I am sure is going to be in my top 5 list this year. The setting, food and characters are all connected within a hygge theme- guaranteeing a warm, comfortable and happy feel. You can imagine yourself in Eva's cafe being wrapped in her welcome and enjoying the delicious food on offer in a cafe that makes you forget life outside.
Kate is a publicist and when she gets passed over for a promotion finds herself the only one available to run a campaign pitch for Lars idea for a Hygge department store.
He is very impressed with the way she pitches and invites her and a team of journalists to an organised tour to embrace everything he is trying to introduce.
The team of journalists provide many amusing moments and you can feel Kate's apprehension over being in charge of a group of grown ups on a 'school trip' with the added danger of them piling a lot of drink to the expense accountYou can just imagine trying get them through duty free and then down to reception to leave on time for the trips. She gets to know them better and they start to form a lovely group having fun.
I loved every page of this book, the cover is sure to grab your attention and the story will make you sigh with happiness

A warm love story that will brighten the coldest, dullest day only winter in Britain can bring.

Involving cake (always a favourite of mine) and international travel with a good looking guy, this is a must read.

The Little Café In Copenhagen is a romantic comedy.

Kate Sinclair works for a top London PR agency. Disappointed that she was over-looked for a promotion, Kate jumps at the chance to win a prestigious contract with a Danish entrepreneur. Lars Wilder is looking for a winning campaign to ‘bring the heart of Hygge to the UK’.

Wanting Kate to fully understand the concept of Hygge (taking pleasure from the simple things in life), Lars invites her to bring six journalists on a five day, all expenses paid, trip to Copenhagen.
As the trip unfolds the author teases the reader by slowly revealing more about each journalist whilst inviting us along on a mini tour of Denmark’s capital. I enjoyed the ‘feel good’ nature and friendliness which oozed from the Danish characters, particularly Eva, Lars’s mother.

Back in England, plans to open a new Danish department store go ahead and Kate hopes that her journalists were all impressed enough to give some much needed publicity to the store’s Hygge concepts. Expected highs and lows of the romance genre add tension and delights to the storyline, as the tale builds to a grand finale.

Recommended for readers who enjoy light contemporary romances and perhaps those with an interest in Hygge.

2018 has so far been fabulous in terms of some of the books I have been reading and at the time of writing its only been 13 days into the year! The Little Cafe in Copenhagen is another book that all I want to do is tell you to buy it and read it.

This is a warm hug of a book that wrapped me up so tightly on a cold winters day and wouldn't let me go with its undeniable brilliance, and look at Hygge and just what it means.

I'll admit what drew me to this wonderful story initially was the cover, the title and discovering that Julie Caplin is the always talented Jules Wake writing under a new name. I don't think I even read the blurb for the first time until just before I started reading.

So colour me impressed when instead of your typical cafe book that happened to be in Copenhagen, there was so much more to this story. In fact the cafe in question run almost single-handedly by Eva, who epitomises Hygge was warm, cosy and had a rather homely feel to it. There were danish pastries amongst the various food served there, but it was the atmosphere that hooked not just me but Kate and the journalists on her press trip.

Kate is our heroine of the book, she is shafted by her about to be ex-boyfriend for a promotion, and is asked to work on an account for a new Danish statement department store to be opened in London, without anyone expecting her to land the business.

Thankfully Lars, Eva's son, loves how quickly Kate understands the basics of Hygge and invites her and some journalists on a press trip. Well anyone that knows me, knows I love a holiday and a good amount of the story was set in Copenhagen, visiting various attractions and learning just why it is Denmark is the happiest nation.

I loved the various journalists on the trip who were a complete mix of characters and all seemed to gain something from the week away. I loved touring Copenhagen with the group, and if you didn't know before hand you would after reading that its a city for real foodies. There is a lot of food mentioned, a lot of it not really what i would want to eat but Kate and the others assured me that it is delicious!

It is clear that was a lot of research poured into the detailed description of the city, and made me feel as though I was there alongside the characters.

The book is split into 3 distinct parts and I read the first part without pausing for breath with lunch. Then I unfortunately needed to stop and do some work and a couple of hours later the pull of the book was so much that I decided sitting down and reading the other 80% was in fact my top priority and I'm so glad I made that decision.

I didn't notice the % meter on my kindle creeping up, I was so absorbed in the whole of this story. I am already looking forward to the next Julie Caplin release, and can't recommend this book enough to anyone that wants to read a story that will lift their mood and make you feel like you are hanging out with old friends, while being so absorbing that you have to just sit back and enjoy it.

So put a couple of nice items surrounding you, light a couple of candles (carefully), grab yourself some wienerbrød (danish pastries) or other snacks and sit back and enjoy your new book. You will be glad you did!

Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Impulse for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Julie Caplin introduces us to the Danish concept of Hygge, in this charming, plot-driven romance.

In Café Varme, a little café in Copenhagen, publicist Kate Sinclair and her diverse group of journalists, including the maverick Benedict Johnson, experience Hygge for themselves, when they meet the warm-hearted owner Eva. She plies them with smooth hot chocolate, delicious cinnamon pastries and good old-fashioned wisdom.

Kate’s London life is fast-paced and filled with everything she ever wanted…until her boyfriend betrays her by clinching a promotion she’s in line for. The heart-broken Kate heads up a working visit to Copenhagen, where her entourage gathers information on the Danish way of life.

Here, Kate experiences a different, slower pace. The city offers her a respite from her recent heartbreak and the possibility of a new beginning. Delicious pastries, candlelight and cosy surroundings go hand in hand with friendships and romance. But the chance of a new love is in jeopardy when her ex-boyfriend arrives to monitor her progress as the trip leader. Will his arrival ruin her chances of happiness? Can she turn things around, despite his intrusion?

This delightful romance is a light read and the plot is intricate enough to keep us guessing all the way through. The main characters are well rounded and memorable, but some of the minor ones border on cardboard cut-outs and could do with more fleshing out.

Caplin weaves her travel-writing skills, into this romance and this makes The Little Café in Copenhagen a perfect book for your ‘weekend away’ travel bag. It will whet your taste for new places and lifestyles!

The Little Cafe in Copenhagen is a fabulous book. Full of great characters, especially Kate and Eva. The story develops well and I found myself totally drawn in from the first page.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and after a couple of chapters I knew I would want to read more by her. The book is full of romance, happiness and warmth and the descriptions transport you instantly to Copenhagen.

This book is the perfect read to accompany a cuppa and a comfy sofa. Embrace the concept of hygge and enjoy this book.

Thank you to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK and the author for the chance to review.

If you have never heard of or never understood what hygge was all about then you will after reading The Little Café in Copenhagen. You’ll also have a free guided tour of the city. However, there’s a lot more to this novel than Danish design and culture (although it does tend to rub off on you). It’s a light, airy ‘feel good’ book with romance, self-analysis and career changes. Eva, the matriarchal mother hen keeps the press pack under control with a listening ear, a soft word, a friendly correction and of course coffee and kanelsnegle. Katie forms a strong bond with her from the outset and in so doing alters the course of her life. If you are looking for a novel to cheer you up and maybe one to make you question your work life balance, then I’d recommend it.

The Little Café in Copenhagen is a delightful, quick read that will make you wish you were strolling the streets of the Danish capital munching on a freshly baked pastry from Varme, the little café that gives the novel its name.

Kate, a successful PR rep in London, knows that the week-long press trip to Copenhagen she’s in charge of managing could be the key to her much-needed promotion. Nothing about the trip with a group of lifestyle journalists goes to plan though – professionally or personally – and while they may not know it, all their lives are about to change in some way, thanks to the little café in Copenhagen and the hard-to-pin-down magic of hygge.

The proof of just how much fun I had devouring this novel on the couch one winter afternoon is in the pudding: once I finished it, I went straight onto Amazon and pre-ordered the next novel in the series!

This is a great feel-good book, well written and with some lovingly drawn characters. It also shows that there is a lot more to Copenhagen than the Little Mermaid. A good read.

-sits swooning at the book cover-.

Oh, sorry. Will my swooning not count as a review? Fiiiiinnnneeeee!!

I'm sure you will agree with me that this cover is rather pretty, right? Thankfully, the story behind the cover is just as pretty, which makes Julie Caplin's novel, in my eyes, the complete package.

People often say that the only person you can trust is yourself. Unfortunately for Kate Sinclair, I don't think she got that memo and put her faith (and her thoughts) into the hands of her boyfriend. I know what you're thinking, 'he's her boyfriend, she should be able to do that!', and you would be right...to a point. But when said boyfriend decides to show his true colours at the expense of his girlfriend, is when it becomes clear that the only thing Kate should have put in her boyfriends hands was a note telling him to get to f.....

Well, in my opinion anyway! Maybe you might think differently when you read the book, but I'm #TeamKate all the way!

You've heard of 'hygge', yeah? The word which next to nobody can pronounce, yet everyone wants a piece of. Think cosy. Think simple. Think being present. Kate takes a trip to Copenhagen for work, to pretty much put the idea of 'hygge' on the map with a bunch of journalists who roll their eyes anytime the word is mentioned. It becomes pretty clear that Kate has her work cut out...

I'm just going to come right out and say it.....

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this book!!!! What a heart-warming, eye-opening, and hilarious start to a brand new series from Julie Caplin. The entire storyline warmed my soul from the tips of my toes, to the tips of my hair. Reading this book was like receiving a hug which puts all of your broken pieces back together again. The characters were well thought out and memorable, each having their own special place within the storyline without seeming like they're a spare part. The romance part wasn't thrust in my face, and whilst I felt that it was a vital part of the storyline,  I was able to discover it slowly like a long lost legendary tale.

Like always, I did have my favourite characters but because I want you to experience the magic of this book with your own two eyes, I won't mention their particulars. However, I will say that the group of journalists who went to Copenhagen with Kate, are absolutely brilliant. Nudge nudge.

Hand on heart, I could not have wished for a more perfect start to a series. Julie Caplin's story telling was enchanting and incredibly more-ish - no wonder there was a cafe in the story (not that I needed anymore convincing at that point, I hasten to add!).

They say that January is a dark month for people (excluding my birthday, obvs), and what better way to put a smile back on your face and the warmth back in your heart, than reading Julie Caplin's new, majestic, and intensely beautiful read. I honestly can't recommend this book enough and I cannot wait to read the other books in this series.

A fantastic, huggable, hilarious and addictive read - 'The Cafe in Copenhagen' will put the fire back in your belly before you've even reached the end. A true gem of a book without a doubt.

Thanks Harper Impulse.

Review shall be up on my blog 23/01 - thecosiestcorner.blogspot.com

I honestly cannot tell you in words how much I loved this book. Much like hygge, it's more about the feels - and this book gave me plenty of them! I must admit that this novel has made me push Copenhagen up my list of places I want to travel to and now I'm pining to go there.

It has to be said that the first thing that usually makes me want to read a book is the cover, and this cover certainly doesn't disappoint. I LOVE it. It's so, so beautiful. Whoever designed it - kudos to you! I adore the style of font, the bright colours brightening the cover, the cute town houses in the background, the flowers, the cute little table and chairs - literally everything I love!

The storyline is exactly the same, I immediately loved it from the start and found myself struggling to put it down! I really loved the character of Katie and immediately found myself relating to her. Not so much from a work view, but from a family view. It must be so tough basically being the bread winner of a big family (especially a family that expects you to work hard in order to help out) and I really felt for Katie when she explained how much work she actually put in just to help her family out. I related to Katie in other ways too and just loved her overall character - she came across as friendly and caring.

I just found the whole book really interesting and charming. I really loved Eva, and how I wish there was a cafe like that actually in London! It sounded so welcoming and cosy. And don't even get me started on how good the pastries sounded!! My mouth was watering as I read and I honestly cannot explain how much I want to go to Copenhagen just to try their pastries now!! Even reading about the coffees was making me want to visit!

In the story, Katie is assigned a task to take five journalists out to Copenhagen to get a good feel of Denmark, the happiest country in the world and to see how hygge is presented in their country. I found myself becoming really rather jealous of the journalists that attended the trip to Copenhagen, and would love to see and do all the things they did in the book! I started warming to all of the characters when I got to know them all throughout the story and especially loved Fiona and Sophie - both girls seemed so lovely.

Of course, as with Chick Lit novels, there was romance involved. I kinda saw it coming, but I loved it anyway. As the trip went on, I really hoped that Ben and Katie would get together. And was shocked when Josh turned up! Throughout the story a lot of unfortunate events take place (much to Katie's horror) and this makes it for a great and entertaining read. There's also some humour throughout, so the book was easy to read and just really, really enjoyable.

Overall, I absolutely loved it (if you haven't already guessed by now) and I literally cannot wait for the next one to come out! I really enjoyed reading my first novel by Julie Caplin and so excited to read more by her in the future. Thank you to Netgalley and to the publisher for a chance to read this novel, which I have reviewed honestly.
