A gentle, romantic interlude of a novel set in 'wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen'. Kate, the protagonist, feeling the need to escape the trials and tribulations of life as we know it decides to try life the Danish way. Hygge and hugs being the order of the day. Enjoyable enough although a little sugary sweet for my liking this is still a relaxing, easy going read and descriptions of the Danish lifestyle are very welcome.

A very typical book of it's genre. Great fun read. Look forward to reading more by this author.

Like most of the UK, I’m a little obsessed with hygge at the moment. Anything that encourages me to drink tea, eat chocolate, light candles and cosy up by a roaring fire with a good book is an instant hit in my world which is why Julie Caplin’s new book instantly caught my eye.
THE LITTLE CAFÉ IN COPENHAGEN tells the story of London based publicist Kate Sinclair, who after missing out on a much sought-after promotion at work, is tasked with the assignment of taking five unruly journalists to Denmark to promote the opening of a new store and experience the world of “hygge”.
From candles and cosy nights in, to romantic late-night walks through the beautiful cobbled streets of Copenhagen, Kate soon discovers how to live life ‘the Danish way’ despite her work drama and love life troubles. Can the secrets of hygge and happiness lead her to her own happily-ever-after?
Sweet, funny and deliciously heart-warming, THE LITTLE CAFÉ IN COPENHAGEN is a fun tale of friendship and romance with a cosy setting. Using Denmark and hygge (the Danish word to describe coziness and life’s little pleasures) as the backdrop, Caplin’s delightful, feel good story will make you want to book a trip to Copenhagen and totally hygge-fy your life.
As expected from the title, most of the story takes place in the beautiful city of Copenhagen. Using the concept of a press tour, Caplin’s beautifully detailed descriptions capture the charm of Copenhagen as the characters take a trip around the city, taking in the sights and sampling gastronomic delights.
In terms of characterisation, all of the characters, particularly Kate and her love interest Ben, are well rounded and believable. Caplin handles the relationships with sensitivity and gives you enough of a glimpse into each person’s life and the secrets they hide to keep the interest high.
The only real disappointment is the predictable plot which becomes a little too sickly sweet at times. The sight-seeing commentary also becomes a little tiresome after a while with the constant historical references making you feel like you’re reading a travel book rather than a fictional story.
That said, there is plenty of humour and romance to keep the story entertaining and Caplin’s warm and gentle writing style makes for a nice easy read.
If you’re looking for a light-hearted read to snuggle down in front of the fire and enjoy, THE LITTLE CAFÉ IN COPENHAGEN is sure to appeal. All I need now is a Kanelsnegle.

Thanks to HarperCollins and NetGalley for a copy of this delightful book. A really heartwarming story which I would recommend:: a fun tale of friendship, romance with cosy settings. Perfect winter read.

I really enjoyed this book. It has everything: beautifully detailed writing, that captures the charm of Copenhagen, and well rounded and fully believable characters. I was gradually drawn into their lives, sharing their fears, tears and joy. I find myself longing for this hygge!

Nice easy romance novel based in Copenhagen, snuggle down in front of the fire and enjoy. Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher

Wow. This was one book I just couldn't put down. I loved the characters, the real life problems they faced and the story line of this book. It was interesting and I highly recommend it. Kate works for a PR firm in London and is given the challenging assignment of taking 5 journalists to Denmark to promote the opening of a new store. You get glimpses into each person's life and the secrets they hide. I will be looking for more of Julie's books to read as I love her style of writing and the way she draws you into the book.

A perfect book for anyone feeling depressed and hassled by work or just brave enough to really want to question their current lifestyle. Using Copenhagen and "hygge" [ the word Danes use to encapsulate their attitude to living] Julie Caplin spins a tale involving a PR consultant taking a group of journalists over to Denmark to generate coverage for a Danish Department store about to open in London. This disparate and unruly bunch gradually succumb to the warm feeling that "hygge" Copenhagen generates and, as they relax, they open up to each other and friendships are formed. Lots of humour, lots of idealism and lots of twists and turns guarantees that you, the reader, shall not only thoroughly enjoy the read but also shall perhaps appreciate why "hygge" matters to us all..

This book was hilarious, from beginning to end. Perfect light read for any occasion.

If hygge is an adjective can you write in a hyggerly way? or is it hyggerich? If so, then this book does it.Gentle and warm style.
I loved the scene where Conrad gets locked in a wine cellar - could just imagine it happening...
The press tour concept really gives the reader a good tourist guide view of what to see and do in Copenhagen.
But I must say that if I ever stay in a 5 star hotel I would expect them to be able to loan me a phone charger...

Loved this book.
It is the story of Kate, who meets Ben one night at a work event - there is chemistry there, but she is scared so runs off in to the night.. But then one of the grumpy journalists on a press trip to Copenhagen turns out to be Ben. The attraction is still there but can they see past the issues that face them once they are back in London?
A large setion of the book is set in Copenhagen, which was great as it bought back lovely memories of my own holiday there.

A delightful, feel good factor story which embraced Danish culture. Felt as though I was in Copenhagen and now want to visit there.
Sensitivity describing relationships and accurate information on the historical bits of Copenhagen - a joy to read.

So now not only do I want to visit Copenhagen, totally hygge-fy my house but I also want to set up a cute little cafe (oh and meet the man of my dreams in a will they, won't they drama)! I loved this book - it was sweet and funny with exactly the right amount of romance. I read it on a snowy afternoon and it was just perfect :-)

I had heard of this author but hadn't read any of her books yet I will be reading more as so well written and engrossed you from the first page. Full of happiness and romance and beautiful Copenhagen. Also about Kate finding herself and realising she doesn't enjoy her job. Well worth reading curled up by the fire.
Kate works as a publicist and sadly doesn't get the promotion she wanted so she isn't happy especially when it's her boyfriend who has gone beyond her back and takes her promotion. She is then given another job by her company and she things she can do it and it means she can get away as well. She has to find five journalists to take with her to Copenhagen and they need to write about how happy the Danish are. She goes over with the journalists and as she's going along the beautiful cobbled streets she realises how to be happy but can she find her happy ever after while away. Once she gets home does it still run smoothly or not and she leaves her job as knows she's not happy. Can she end up being happy with the right person.
Perfect read and can't wait to read more by this author.
